Nira Alpina

"A 70-room timber-and-glass low-rise set on the highest point of the tiny village of Surlej, three miles from St. Moritz. A glass-enclosed bridge connects the hotel to the Corvatsch cable car, which ascends to 10,800 feet. Modern and pared-down with traditional Swiss touches—antlers, a woodpile under the staircase, cowhide couches, sheepskin throws. Rooms have a balcony or a garden patio—and there might be a bedside copy of Nietzsche’s Thus Spake Zarathustra (in German) for long, dark, thoughtful nights."

Nira Alpina, a Design Boutique Hotel Silvaplana, Switzerland

"With views of the Engadin Mountains and Lake Silvaplana, Nira Alpina offers luxury rooms with terraces. The hotel spa includes a sauna and a well-equipped gym, and the restaurant Stars offers a panoramic view over the lakes and the mountains. Each sleek, modern room has floor-to-ceiling windows opening onto a private patio. Also featured are flat-screen satellite TVs and free Wi-Fi, while some rooms have a seating area as well. Guests can relax in the steam room or with a beauty treatment in the Nira Spa. Ski passes and equipment hire are available, and the nearest lift is just 60 metres walk away from Nira Alpina. A choice of 3 restaurants offers menus including regional and Mediterranean cuisine, all with elegant surroundings. There is a modern rooftop bar, and the on-site bakery provides fresh bread and pastries. A free shuttle bus provides links between Silvaplana, Surlej and Corvatsch. The Corvatsch ski area is linked to St. Moritz’s Corviglia by a 4 km ski run. Guests staying 2 nights or more enjoy free access to the cable cars and the public transportation in Upper Engiadina Region during summer season and get reduced ski passes directly at the hotel during winter season." - My Boutique Hotel (en)

Nira Alpina (St. Moritz, Swiss Alps) 2 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"If a hotel in Surlej, Switzerland wanted to indulge its quaint side, all the ingredients are in place: the alpine village is nestled in the picturesque Engadin Valley, offering an unobstructed view down the mountain pass to Lake Silvaplana. Here, the sun is shining almost every day of the year, the climate is dry and pleasant, and hardy pleasure-seekers put skis to slopes in winter and bikes to trails in summer. Thankfully, Nira Alpina eschews chalet kitsch in favor of modern construction defined by glass and locally sourced timber. After all, Surlej is just a few minutes’ drive from St. Moritz, the next lake up the road — presumably its visitors are no strangers to contemporary architecture and design." - Tablet Hotels

Ideally located directly opposite the ski lift to the Corvatsch 3303 peak, the hotel preserves a warm, family-style atmosphere, with managers who remember each guest and are always ready to help. Easy access to other ski areas and St. Moritz. Spacious parking for guests. Special thanks to Giannis, whom I have known for 12 years — an exceptional professional in hotel management and genuine guest care.

Very nice and very close to the ski slopes, if you like to be the first on the slopes and enjoy the early morning when the slopes are still "intact" is the hotel for you, i like it because there's a bridge direct to the station where you can take the first gondola, unfortunately the chairlift connection to St. Moritz was closed at the time i was there, so if you want to get there you need to commute to the town if you want to enjoy all the available slopes. 5hey have a room for kids with plenty of toys so your kids can't get bored and a small pool so after the skiing kids can play while you rest in the pool!

The restaurant staff are exceptionally friendly, helpful, and thoroughly professional. The view from the room is absolutely breathtaking, and the entire hotel exudes peace and cleanliness. The food is delicious. If I could suggest one small improvement, it would be better regulation of the hot water in the rooms. A wonderful bonus is that the hotel is dog-friendly and genuinely thoughtful about accommodating pets. From here, you can easily take a bus to St. Moritz and other charming towns in the area, or simply hop on the funicular right inside the hotel and admire the stunning glacier at 3,033 meters. Worth every penny! thank you for a memorable experience!

During my visit to the Nira Alpina, I witnessed the General Manager publicly reprimand a couple at the bar for absolutely no valid reason. The couple was calmly enjoying cocktails, not causing any disturbance whatsoever. In fact, the bar was nearly empty, with only two other couples present. The way the situation was handled was embarrassing, unnecessary, and deeply disrespectful—especially toward the woman, who was made to feel uncomfortable in front of others for simply spending time in the bar. This reflects a serious lack of hospitality, basic manners, and professional judgment. Such poor and irresponsible management is unacceptable in a hotel of this category. The General Manager’s conduct was shameful and completely contrary to what one expects from a place that claims to value guest experience. I certainly would not return after witnessing this.

The hotel has the friendliness of a boutique hotel and has a wonderful feel to it. The layout, rooms, decoration, food availabilities were all top notch, just one of these rare hotels that you want to come back to as it feels a bit like home.|We ate well in the 2 restaurants and the breakfast - with a view - was a highlight.|We love our skiing and not only could we walk the 10 meters up to the Gondola, but we had a real happy ski on uncrowded runs (on both sides) at a very low price, thanks to the hotel arrangement.|Just to add that the area, Silvaplana, Engadine is a rare place of beauty in both winter and summer.|I consider that we were fortunate to find this hotel, highly recommend it and we hope to be back at sometime.

We stayed at Nira Alpina for one night on a road trip (we have stayed here before for a few nights on a previous road trip). The hotel itself is very modern and clean. Our room, the Corvatsch, had spectacular views of the mountains. The room also has a kettle, Nespresso coffee machine, TV, and fridge.||The staff were welcoming and friendly, providing a lot of information related to our stay and nearby activities. There was a discount provided for their spa, along with discount cards for some of the activities around the area.||The restaurant is great, with a mixture of local, regional and international, with some focus on Asian dishes. There is a great little bakery located within the hotel which is very handy for snacks and drinks for the room.||The parking is great, which is located under the hotel. All in all this is a great hotel, we will definitely stay for a third time if we’re in the area.

We stayed there for New Year's and the following days. This was our second visit. The hotel feels like a 5-star. The staff and the manager are wonderful, genuinely caring and efficient. The New Year's dinner was very nice and the food was great.. We stayed at a top-floor room and the view was beautiful. There is direct access to the lift to Corvatch from inside the hotel, you don't even have to cross the street. Very nice spa. We highly recommend it.

The service by Yiannis in reception makes me love this place and makes me feel at home. The food is also very good and best scrambled eggs! Would definitely be back. I hear the SPA is really good, haven´t tried it. Library in hotel is beautiful! Everything is very calm, clean and good energy hotel.
