Why This Japanese Ski Resort Might Be the Best Place in the World to Ski at Night

"On subsequent days I sought out the challenging runs here, and even caught the resort’s festive fireworks, before linking back across the mountain." - Denny Lee Denny Lee Denny Lee is a seasoned editor, writer, and traveler. What to Do in Central Hokkaido, Japan's Tranquil Northern Escape | Condé Nast Traveler

"At Niseko Hanazono Resort I discovered that summer can be as adventurous as winter: the Shiribetsu River becomes a whitewater hotspot beneath Mount Yotei, and the resort offers high-adrenaline experiences like an electric Zipflight — Asia's longest mega-zipline (1,700 meters, speeds up to 68 mph) — which gives a rocket-speed perspective on mountain views and forest canopies." - Jonnie Bayfield

How to Plan the Perfect Ski Trip to Niseko United in Japan

"Home to some of the resort's newest lifts and the wide-open Stairway to Heaven run; lifts feature heated seats and bubble covers that automatically open and close to keep you dry and warm, and many runs are barely marked, giving a feeling of exploring rather than skiing strictly in bounds. Programming includes options like the Diamond X Pro guide, which includes first tracks for full-day guests, and off-mountain family-friendly attractions such as a tubing park with a magic carpet for kids." - Alison Fox Alison Fox Alison Fox is a Travel + Leisure contributor. Snomobiling was a wonderful experience for our family group provided us with a welcome break from skiing and some new stunning scenery away from the crowds. Very clear instructions from the friendly team and quality Ski-doos. So much fun to go fast towards the end! Excellent customer service for the booking, including changes that needed to be made. Can't recommend this enough.

Hanazono Ski Resort is a fantastic place to ski, especially if you love deep powder and wide, open terrain. The snow quality is excellent, and the resort feels less crowded than some of the neighboring Niseko areas, which makes for a more relaxed experience on the slopes. The lift system is modern and efficient, and the views of Mt. Yotei on a clear day are absolutely stunning. While the terrain is great for intermediate and advanced skiers, beginners might find the options a bit limited compared to larger resorts. Après-ski and dining are also quieter here, so don’t expect a big nightlife scene. That said, the peaceful atmosphere is part of the charm. Overall, Hanazono offers top-tier snow, beautiful scenery, and a calm, high-quality skiing experience—definitely worth visiting if you’re in Niseko.

A heartfelt thank you to Edo at Snow Tubing for going above and beyond! After an exhilarating snow tubing session, I ventured off-track onto a trail where the snow was knee deep. It wasn't until later that I realized my phone was missing, lost somewhere in the powder. Panic set in quickly. Edo's response was immediate and exceptional. Without hesitation, he helped me search through the thick snow, and against all odds, he actually located my phone buried in knee high powder. His dedication and quick action turned what could have been a disaster into a testament to outstanding service. This level of commitment speaks volumes about the team's professionalism. Thank you, Edo, for transforming a stressful moment into an amazing experience I'll never forget.

If you’re a first timer in ski or snowboarding, this place is a perfect place to learn. They have a wide track for beginners, an some of easy track up the hill. So you wont get stuck on the bottom of the hill every time. They have international instructor as well, who has so many experiences. They all profesional and friendly as well. To be said, this is the best experience ever!

We had so much fun rafting!! We did not know there was so much to do at Hanazono in summer! Our guide Bhupan was so good and experienced! On our first experience there was a little boy(under 3) with us and Bhupan was careful to make sure the boy and his parents were safe. My husband and I were so impressed we signed up again 2 days later and we were extremely happy to get Bhupan again. This time it was us and my adult son and because there were no little ones on board, he made the experience different and thrilling! Such a wonderful time! Please thank Bhupan and the team again for their wonderful service and care! The photographer was also so professional and helpful! And his pictures are gorgeous! We will definitely be back!

Fantastic facilities, beautiful powder skiing for all levels. Although I unfortunately had a fall on the slope on my last day, the first aid crew were incredible, kind and efficient. Thank you in particular to Hata san, Abe san and Tanabe san for their assistance. I will be recovered and back!

Google
Great slopes for beginners and families. One of the widest area for learners in the area, compared to Hirafu and Annapuri. Has a long moving travelator (abt 100m) for the beginners. It gives an option for those wanting to learn skiing/snowboarding with friendly slopes and those that just wanna have fun tubing. There are at least 2 tube runs which are 100m long as well. Good family fun. Best of all, its all in one area, where you can see your kids with a watchful eye. Food is great as well with alot of variety and ample sitting place right next to the ski field. I was there at peak season and could still find seats, although it was a little diffifcult. (Compared to the Grand Hirafu, where we stood and ate) Highly Recommended if you are looking for a more chill and relaxing resort. The resort is also connected to the ski park, which makes it convenient for a ski in ski out experience.

Very huge gondola. Nicely managed ski centre with rentals, locker room and changing room. The restaurant was cozy and I love the air jet. Nice view.

Yelp
Winter here is amazing. The Niseko Hanazoo resort is just filled with snow and powder all along the area. It was our first time being in the Niseko area and it for sure will not be our last time! Almost everywhere that we were here it was snowing and being so beautiful. If you like winter activities I think this is a great place to learn to ski or snowboard. They have instructors that you can reserve for the amount of time you want to practice. Overall it was a fun experience and I would recommend it to anyone who loves winter activities.
