How to Plan the Perfect Ski Trip to Niseko United in Japan

"A massive, interconnected mountain made up of four resorts known for “Japow” — the uniquely dry, fluffy powder created when cold air from the Eurasian continent flows over the warm currents of the Sea of Japan. The mountain can receive more than 600 inches a year; by the end of February 2024 it had received more than 270 inches (noted in the text as a 'bad' year). The terrain totals more than 2,800 skiable acres with 31 lifts, and runs for every level (25 percent advanced black runs, 34 percent intermediate red runs, and 41 percent beginner green runs). Four ski resorts are available on one pass, the layout is highly interconnected so it feels accessible despite the sheer size, and several multi-resort pass options apply (including Ikon Pass and the Mountain Collective). During high season a one-day all-mountain pass starts at 10,500 yen ($70.40)." - Alison Fox Alison Fox Alison Fox is a Travel + Leisure contributor.
