How to Plan the Perfect Ski Trip to Niseko United in Japan

"The largest of the four resorts (and the most crowded), offering tree runs like Furiko — described as a red run, equivalent to a blue in the U.S. — plus long groomers that provide a Japanese take on classic groomed descents. Hirafu also functions as the closest thing to a town, with several shops and restaurants along a hilly road leading up to the gondola and lifts and food trucks clustered nearby with views of Mount Yōtei." - Alison Fox Alison Fox Alison Fox is a Travel + Leisure contributor. I love the mountain but not the middle management who run the ski resort, most of employees are very nice and doing their best. I hope owners are going to make some changes to the management. Good to see the place spinning in the summer and some facelifts to the facilities. Although would be nice to make over the toilets too but I guess it's fine as it is, maybe next year lol

This was our first time visiting Niseko and also our very first time trying skiing. We came here to join a ski school, and we were taught by a Japanese-speaking ski instructor named Tatsuya-san. He was extremely patient, attentive, and explained everything in a way that was very easy to understand. This became the best experience for our first time skiing. I will always remember this wonderful memory, and I truly hope that I can come back here again in the future.

Every snowboarders dream. Just have to hope that you get lucky and it’s not too windy so you have access to the whole mountain. It’s a great place to experience the backcountry for the first time, with amazing powder conditions and easy access back to the resort. If you’re going down from gate 3 or 4, would consider checking out some videos on YouTube for the best lines down. Would recommend going early to the lifts though as it’s always a rush for a clean line.

This ski resort is one of the best places to ski in Hokkaido. The fluffy snow is so good that you won't want to miss skiing here. Even if you're a beginner, you can totally try out these skiing activities in the winter. They've got a store where you can rent ski clothes and gear that fits you. Plus, for those who don't ski, they can just ride the gondola up to the restaurant on the upper slope and enjoy the snowy view. Super exciting place to go in Niseko village!

Great facilities, but be prepared to pay Australian prices for food (eg $35 Sandwich from a food truck!).

We were staying at the old wings so the room was a bit small and old, we have to open our own futon bed. Other than that, the amenities and onsen were good, staffs were friendly and helpful, very accommodating, breakfast options are good. And the greatest thing was the location is right by a chairlift, only 10 seconds to it when you get out from the hotel, and you can ski in directly which is really convenient without any hassle.

Google
I've been to many ski resorts, but Niseko is heaven for skiers or snowboarders. Not only does it combine four major ski resorts, but each has its own variety of slopes, and you can ski from the top of the mountain to the other resorts without having to take a shuttle bus. All facilities are well maintained, the staffs here are very friendly and helpful, if you have any questions they will able to help you in different leagues. The only downside to Niseko is the high prices, as it is located in the mountains away from the city, so if you want to ski in and out be prepared for accommodation and restaurants, to be more expensive than most other places in Japan. But I will still give it 5 🌟

Variety of groomed runs, tree sections all offer the best powder snow I've seen anywhere. If the weather is kind to you, you'll wake up to a morning with the slopes coated by fresh snow, often more than 20cm and then the bright sun offers such spectacular views! If the weather reminds you it's winter after all, the snow is still there in abundance, but it can get blustery at the mid-top mountain. A winter wonderland! Must visit place for all those enjoying skiing/snowboarding.
