I stayed at this hotel for two non-consecutive stays this month. What drew me to this hotel was that it had an indoor and outdoor onsen at the hotel. I liked that the hotel was right across from the Nishitetsu bus terminal and was only a 5 minute walk to JR Hakata Station.
I knew that when I booked this hotel, the room was going to be small. It really didn't bother me since I was alone but for two people, yes, it would be too small. There were also reviews that the bathroom had a strange sewer smell. During my first stay, I didn't smell anything. However, on my second stay, I did smell it but it really didn't bother me that much.
The onsen definitely did not disappoint. The indoor onsen was larger than the outdoor one but the rotenburo was still adequate. It was a nice place to relax after a long day of sightseeing and walking. One good thing was that the onsen was open late till 1AM.
There are two places where you can have breakfast: Restaurant Giardino on the 2nd Floor and Jako Kujira on the 1st floor. Restaurant Giardino had a mixture of Western and Japanese dishes whereas Jako Kujira had mostly Japanese dishes. The latter lets you choose from one of six entrees(eg. sea bream sashimi, miso grilled mackarel, etc) and you have access to a buffet of Japanese dishes. I preferred the latter one since I enjoyed the apple cider vinegar drink, oden, and lotus root dishes.
They have Lawson's on the 1st floor next to Jako Kujira where you can get any necessities. They also have laundry machines on the 8th floor so you can wash your clothes if needed.
Hotel guests also can enjoy complimentary hot or iced jasmine tea, oolong tea or honey lemon water in the lobby. A nice touch!
Tip: If you join the Nishitetsu Hotel Rewards Club, you can also get late checkout.
