Nishitetsu Inn Shinjuku

I stayed for 3 nights in the standard room. The room is typical for Japan – small size but very efficient use of space. I stayed by myself and had enough space. The room was clean and quiet. It was the 6th floor, if I remember correctly.|It was an easy 10-15 min walk to Shinjuku train station, with or without luggage. I didn’t interact much with the front desk (only on check in, the checkout is self-service), everyone looked and behaved very attentively and friendly (a typical Japan hospitality at its finest).|My rate included breakfast, which was served at the café on the main floor. You have a choice of pastry (croissant), a breakfast sandwich and a beverage (coffee). Of course it was not a breakfast buffet but it was good enough for me to start a day. It tasted good and fresh, no complaints.|The reason for rating the hotel as average is Wi-Fi. It didn’t work in my room. It wasn’t like it was slow, I could not get any signal at all. I had to go down to the reception floor to use Wi-Fi. It wasn’t my first trip to Japan and I was very surprised to find that something is not working properly. I think this is unacceptable in this day and age. Therefore 3 stars rating.

The service is amazing here. Everyone is very helpful and tries their best to help in English. I had a very complicated ask about shipping my luggage to the next hotel and the front deck staff were wonderful! They had paperwork explaining everything and even had a box for me to put all my souvenirs! I am so glad we stayed here. It is so close to so much amazing stuff!

The hotel is ideally situated for access to Tokyo's subway and railway network. If you opt for the Japanese breakfast there was plenty to eat although the breakfast room could do with a make over, the staff were most welcoming making a lack of Japanese language no problem. Our double room was compact in line with other hotels in Tokyo but the bed was comfortable and the bathroom adequate . Coin operated Washing and drying machines were readily accessible and welcome with temperatures around 29 degrees and 85+% humidity during our September visit. Nishi Shinjuku station is only a couple of minutes walk from the hotel and we found it much easier to take the Marunouchi line from there to Shinjuku station (180 yen and 3 minute ride) and then using google maps to explore Tokyo using public transport with the Suica card which is so convenient and can be used all over Japan not just Tokyo. The hotel was quiet with no noisy guests disturbing your sleep. The automated checking in and out system was easy and staff are on hand to help if needed. On our departure due to our flight times we had to leave the hotel at 05:45. Staff were on duty (we just had to call them with the desk bell) and despite the early time were prompt in responding, efficiently facilitating our check out.

Given I have been staying in a few shinjuku hotels this qould be the worse one Room extremely small and no under the bed space to put the suitcase. No place to put clothes out either. There was no room for 2 people to move at all. And a double bed againts the wall already. Location 10-15 mins to the middle shinjuku. Not a bad walk. Service was weird.. First they do not provide shower cap.. Second when asked for extra pillow, they said I can only have one ( two guests registered in the room) Then I needed a taxi for 5am , reception said come the night before to book . Came sown the night before and reception said. Can’t help . Taxi fully booked????? And no help to find another solution. I had to find didi myself and then at 5am the lobby was empty. Not a single soul.. how was that for fully booked??? I will Avoid this hotel . Paid over AUD$230 . I got 5 star last year for the same price and much better service and ammenities

First the positives: |The location is good. Although just a short ten minute walk from the craziness around Shinjuku station and Kabukicho, the area surrounding the hotel was dead quiet at night.||At a first glance the bed looked promising, having a foam pillow top mattress on top of the usual box spring mattress. ||The negatives:|Having stayed in more than a dozen hotels in Japan, this has without a doubt the most uncomfortable bed. And that in a country not exactly renowned for comfortable beds. The bed is hard as a rock. It doesn't even feel like there's a box spring mattress, but more like you're sleeping directly on wooden bed slats.||The bathroom reeked of sewage. It's as if the plumbing had a faulty trap allowing sewage air to seep out. It probably didn't help that the ventilation in the bathroom was completely clogged up with dust. How on earth housekeeping and hotel maintenance couldn't catch this issue speaks volumes about this hotel.||The windows don't have blackout curtains. Instead you slide some wooden shutters in front of the windows. Of course the shutters are too small, allowing for light to leak through.||Parting words:|I had made a reservation for eight nights, but already on the first night I made reservations at another hotel in Shinjuku Gyoemmae. Unfortunately there were no rooms available immediately, so I had to stay at Nishitetsu Inn for two nights. I don't think I was able to sleep even for a minute.||When checking out six nights prematurely no one at the front desk seemed interested in why I chose to leave so early. But then again, my reservation was non-refundable (as they pointed out to me), so they already had my money. Why would they care? But at that point I regarded it as a sunk cost, I just wanted to get out of there and go to a proper hotel.||I can't understand the good reviews for this place. It has the quality of a poor hostel with a fancy front desk.

Firstly getting here can be really tricky. The best approach is to get to Nishi Shinjuku station, which can be done by taking the Maranouchi. From there, it’s only a 2 mins walk. However if you are walking from Shinjuku station, it’s at least a 15 mins walk. The location is on the quieter and safe side of Shinjuku. Personally I love the location; there’s a family mart and 7/11 nearby, McDonalds and Jonathan for a quick bite. Also it’s a straight line walk to Kabukicho, about 10 mins. Definitely the hotels best feature. The room is typical from all the business hotels I’ve stayed, maybe slightly smaller. But for single or couples, it will work just fine. Large families best look elsewhere. My biggest criticism would be the staff. I wish they were more friendly and welcoming. Never once in my 3 nights stay was I greeted with ohayo gozaimasu, and checking out took much longer then it needed. A smile and greeting goes a long way which the staff here can do. Otherwise happy with my stay and I’d be happy to stay again.

1. No bottled water, no tea or coffee in the room. 2. No safe locker 3. Room cleaning only every other day. Not everyday 4. Only can keep luggage for a few hours. 5. No space to put luggage, ended up no space to walk if need to open luggage. 6. Hotel WiFi sucks. Apart from these, room is clean and smoke free. Quite near Shinjuku station but had a hard time figuring out how to get here cos the under pass are all under renovation. Summary: can look for other better hotel

Fantastic hotel, when we viewed it online it was labeled as a 3 star and during our fantastic time here in Japan I would certainly make it a 4 star definitely worth staying here as it so close to the station and close to the night life of Shinjuku but so quiet that you are left undisturbed throughout the night. The rooms are very clean with many amenities like a tv, fridge, soap for body and hair. The rooms get cleaned once every two days and offer washing services the floor has also a vending machine and a microwave. The staff were very friendly and their breakfast buffets were delicious. Will come again once I can afford to come to Japan!!

Great modern styled hotel catering in the heart of a business district. Its 2 minutes from the Nishi Shinjuku subway station on the Marounuchi line, which made it super easy to get in and out of. However being in a business district, there isn't much in this area outside of a coffee shop downstairs and some restaurants located in the business office / subway station across the street. Also, everything closes up early. The walk to the main part of Shinjuku is doable, but still about 10-15 min. In reality its still one subway stop away on the aforementioned M line. This actually ended up working well for us. We could get to Shinjuku when needed, but with the convenience of the train being across the street, you can pretty much go anywhere else in took on the metro, and not have to deal with Shinjuku station, the busiest station in all of Tokyo.

People have constantly commented that hotel accommodation in Tokyo is expensive so I was surprised when I saw this hotel on my online searches. I was able to book directly with the hotel for 5 nights at a bargain rate of 450,000 YEN, which works out to be about AUD$100 a night. When you find a bargain like that, you always worry that you've been duped or the place is a dump but I was pleasantly surprised when I checked in and got to my room. Yes, the room is relatively small but it was big enough to be comfortable and it was extremely practical. Given you don't come to Tokyo to spend your time in a hotel room, there was no issues at all with the rooms at Nishitetsu Inn. One of the advantages of this hotel is that they have coin-operated laundry facilities on a few levels which is great for an extended trip and I certainly made use of this option. There is free wifi - at first I thought it was slow but figured out you had to avoid certain spots in the room as there must be some deadzones for the signal. The hotel is a short stroll from the West exit of Shinjuku station and for me the location is awesome as it is far enough away from the bright lights and noise but close enough to crawl home after a big night. There is also a subway stop for the Marunouchi Line about 50 metres to the other side of the hotel which can also get you around the Tokyo metro area or get you out of the walk to Shinjuku station if it's raining or you're just lazy ;) There is a coffee shop at the front of the hotel as well that sells some decent pastries - coffee is so-so. There is also a Maccas directly across the road as well.

This is a great hotel - convenient location, lots of amenities, reasonable rates, friendly staff. The hotel is in the busy west Shinjuku area and very close to a subway station, convenience store, restaurants, and shops. The hotel room had a mini fridge, hair dryer, toothbrush/toothpaste,hot pot and tea, WiFi, smart phone. There was also a coin operated laundry (with soap already in the machine), vending machines, and restaurants on site. I was able to store my luggage at no cost when I took a short trip to Osaka. One thing to note - this hotel is not one of the Airport Limousine Bus stops. Got dropped off and was picked up at the Shinjuku Station West exit and took a taxi between the station and hotel.

Stayed for 7 night while in Japan. The room is small but we are not that big so, it work just fine for us. The staffs speak a little bit English and are super nice. The hotel is really close to the station and it's walking distance to a lot of stuff. They offer free new slipper/toothbrush daily, also the restroom have hair dryer, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. The room comes with a mini fridge, kettle and free tea daily. You can pick up little cotton pack, hair tie, etc.. at the lobby. What I like most about this hotel is that it come with a humidifier, make use of it cus it can be stuffy, Also another plus is that they provide you with a phone that you can carry with you for GPS and can make call to your family. We rented a pocket WiFi not knowing the room come with a smart phone. If you book with them, no need to rent a pocket wifi.

The hotel is nice, staff speak enough English, located conveniently and very clean. Well most of Japan is really clean. I'd stay with them again. My friends and I were backpacking across Japan and we ended up here because a backpackers hotel didn't stay open to let us check in, we had a late arrival in from China. This hotel a friendly local recommended and called ahead for us to ensure there were rooms available and there were. We arrived and the gentleman at the front desk spoke English but told us no double rooms were available so we each had to get our own rooms at about $85 for the night. Not bad if I was in America but that was double the price of every other nice place we stayed at (I realized after the trip was over). I liked it very much. The rooms were basically the size of small hotel rooms I've seen and not like super tiny ones people had warned me of prior to the trip. The bathroom was the right size with a full shower and tub. The toiletries guests pick up before entering the elevator. The staff also stored our backpacks for many hours the next day as we explored that part of tokyo. Theres a large convenient store a few doors down that i recommend visiting. I'd stay with them again.

Do not eat at this restaurant. If you want a good experience go to Mcdonalds in front of this inn. They are rip off artists. I heard that Japanese are hospitable people. But the restaurant staff made me change my mind. My suggestion don't stay here.
