There was a queue even early in the morning. The wait however was not too long.
We were seated in a room. And English menu provided to ease the ordering. We opted for udon beef and duck meat sukiyaki.
Udon broth is flavourful and I polished off the entire bowl. While the duck meat had a slightly salty edge, it did not affect the overall enjoyment of the meal.
Definitely worth visiting.

I don’t know what to say.. if you can read Japanese menu.. the food is half of the price
I had been there twice.. the food was fine. A set of beef sukiyaki was 3250 yen.
But then, I read the Japanese menu online again. It was only 1380yen..
so disappointing.. never going back again

Traditional udon place that serves quite a large menu including udon tsukemen, beef sukiyaki udon, cold udon etc
Central location with an English menu (that is kind of different from the Japanese local menu).
We dined on the second floor which requires taking off your shoes.

Was here twice on my trip. Food was great both visits, however the service when seated upstairs was 5 stars, whist downstairs I'd rate as 3. The nabe and shabu sets were perfect. On the pricey side, but the quality of the food matches it

The restaurant has a traditional style, very pleasant; the staff is very friendly and they speak a bit of English. They also have an English menu!
I recommend ordering the tsukemen-style udon (the soup is served separately from the noodles, and you dip them yourself), and you can choose whether you want the noodles cold or hot. In my opinion, they taste better cold.
There’s also a lemon and beef udon that’s very refreshing, and it’s a nice change if you’re tired of ramen with thick, hot broth.

It’s far from being as bad as some have painted. Service was hospitable as to be expected. Food quality matches the price point; perhaps we had unrealistic hopes and left a touch disappointed but truth is it’s a nice eatery, good service, honest offering.
We went in at last order on eve of public holiday. No queue.

In the alley of old school soba which the area is known for, this place seems pretty unique and popular. I went to see it with the recommendation of a food guidebook. Inside the restaurant looks antique. I ordered their bestseller the meat tsukemen but there’s also unagi don that I shouldn’t have passed on. Apparently you can change the noodle thickness and volume, and you have the option to add one of their sauces. The udon is firm and the meat from the broth is flavorful. The broth was really hot though so I decided to add the raw egg earlier than they recommended. But the real star of the dish was the dried bonito chunks and the sauce which changes the taste of the udon completely. It’s worth the premium price in my opinion. My only gripe I guess is the lack of paper apron (or should I have asked?).

Yelp
After a long day, my partner and I wanted something simple for dinner. He is a fan of udon noodles so after searching for those, we ended up settling on Nishiya for dinner. It was close to our hotel and very near the Shinsaibashi shopping district.
There is an English menu. Service was a tad bit slow and prices were a tad high. Decor was nice and traditional.
We got an udon noodle bowl as well as a tempura/sushi platter. Both were tasty. We appreciated the option for tofu rather than meat.

Yelp
Food was so delicious, and with $20, you can eat all of these (see pix). Service was so so, some were very nice and some were very rude (disappointed). The first thing they ask you is, "Are you Chinese?" And if you answer, No, Im from the States, then theyre nicer.

Yelp
They have an English menu! AND it's on an iPad so it's very easy to order!
Rice dishes, udon, some sushi, and shabu amongst other items. Place was relatively busy with a lot of locals at 6PM! Staff is extremely friendly despite the language barriers. They give you delicious hot tea and also a warm towel wipe to clean your hands before eating!
As for the food, I had the Tamago over rice (think of it as gently cooked egg with pork and green onions over rice. It was really nothing special and I haven't had it in the USA but it is a "comfort" food. This was my first time having this dish so it was an interesting experience. This dish is also relatively cheap throughout Japan, so if you're on a budget.. It's a must!
Service is a definite 10/10 but I will probably try a different item next time. The shabu shabu did look very delicious...

Yelp
One of my favorite udon restaurant. Their TSUKEMEN, dipped style udonw, is the best! You'll be very full.
