Taste: 3/5 Portion: 4/5 Ambience: 4/5 Service: 3/5 Price: 3/5 Great place if you like live jazz music. Just don’t bother to dine there. Food is pretty good but service really needs to buck up. They’re quite disorganised when it comes to dinner arrangements (not that there were many dinner patrons). They should really think of improving the processes. Pre-bought dinner with show according to the website yet when arrived, told that the show was free and no reservations on the seats. So we’re supposed to eat and then jostle for space??? Odd. Dinner reservation list was not immediately available and they had to scamper around to find it. So happened that there was a power outage that day and they didn’t even have the courtesy to offer complimentary water to compensate for the stuffy evening.

Well-known Jazz bar with fabulous acoustics. Live shows by some of the genre's best. As long as you don't move once seated, you can overlook the tightly squeezed setup. Food was exquisite. Must try the set dinners

Google
Cool bar with jazz. They have live band almost every night. We were lucky, the band were really good. Cool environment. We had GT:s, not the best ones but definitely drinkable. I recommend you to go there if you like to have a smooth night.

Nice cozy place with good music! Small setup which is great to get up close and personal with the musicians. Great acoustics as well! Make sure to get tickets online to catch these musicians before they're sold out! Fun night with the right kind of Jazz!

Google
Very cool atmosphere. Mostly visited by westerners, but also spotted a few asians. Food is average. Place is pricey. But if you are willing to pay an admission fee you can have a good time here.

Google
Great venue for jazz or any live music. Artfully designed interior and friendly staff. Fazztastic show 10/17/‘19

Google
I rally liked the atmosphere but the place is really cramped and chairs are uncomfortable to sit on a few hours ! Based on their website the performance was suppose to start at 9 but it only started at 10 PM! The sound system was not good for such a small place and we couldn't really hear what the singer was singing! We ordered the brownie with ice cream but it was basically a default chocolate bar!

Google
Great bar, good ambiance and great selection of drinks. If you like jazz this is the place to go, fantastic bands playing weekly. I'm only giving it 4 stars because they have the most uncomfortable chairs in Malasyia and it makes it hard to sit for more than one hour.

Yelp
One of the main reasons I ended up here was simply because of the name - it sounded like one of those bars that had some character. Well, it turned out that it was actually much more than a simple bar, it was actually a jazz club. Actually, I haven't had a huge amount of experience when it comes to jazz clubs, and unfortunately I didn't get too much to an opportunity to check this place out either. However, even though I ended up here rather early, the staff were still more than happy to have me sit in the front area for a drink. In fact you don't have to enter the jazz part (since there is a cover charge). Well, the show doesn't start until 8:00 pm, but you can go and listen to the rehersal, though once again you have to pay. As for beers, there wasn't a huge selection, but the atmosphere wasn't all that bad.

Yelp
It's a great little jazz club with an intimate atmosphere...the food was great, duck with different sauces and peppered salmon, if not pipping hot, barely warm. The night's jazz and shift rock session was superb and very enjoyable! Will definitely return this very month for a Beatles special

Yelp
This place is the crème de la crème of jazz places in town. The acoustics here is amazing - a note rarely goes unheard of. So you can expect really great performances. Many talented musicians, both local and international, flock here for a chance to perform on its very stage. Just brace yourself for a night of blissful entertainment. The ambience here is very romantic - dimmed lights, black draped curtains, and tiny tables with close-seated chairs. Drop by earlier during performance nights as these tables get snapped up pretty quickly. Cover charge varies depending on the performance - on average I paid between RM 30-50. Drinks and nibbles are not included in the cover charge. I met the manager of the place the other night - I think her name's Evelyn. Wearing thick cat-eye shaped spectacles, she reminded me of a person you'll find working in those high fashion magazine companies. She isn't the friendliest person to talk to and not very approachable. Her staff share similar personality traits so ordering drinks wasn't as fun. There isn't a specific dress code. Infact, they allow people wearing singlets and slippers in - much to my surprise! When asking the attendee about it, she cattily replied "You know the place IS called No Black Tie." I didn't pursue the topic after. Overall, this is a great place a go-to if you're looking to experience some great live music. Don't expect too much attention from the staff though.

Yelp
Every Saturday, there is a different band playing in NBT. Plus, there is an entrance fee of MYR50. If you want a slightly cheaper parking, leave your car in the serviced residences building opposite NBT. Entry is MYR5. I was there on a first date. We were fortunate to have dinner elsewhere because though NBT serves food, the round table was surprising tiny. Their selection of wine was limited & do not serve cheese cake, which is a disappointment & reduced my experience of enjoyment.

Yelp
I was very fortunate to be in No Black Tie when 'Pure Energy' was playing. It made the whole experience amazing, in spite of a few issues with the service. Starting with the positive, the food there is really good, the drinks are reasonably priced and the music is impeccable. On the downside, I've had problems with the service there. The waiters overcharged us and got aggressive when we questioned it. It was awkward and nearly a reason not to come back. BUT the music there is really good, so I will be coming back to No Black Tie, even with the possibility of bad service.

Yelp
NBT is the holy grail of jazz music in KL. A favorite spot for music lovers both locally and internationally. The ambience is intimate and the mood can be quite romantic too. Needless to say, the acoustic is top notch. Some of my favorite local performers are Rozz and Elvira Arul. They also play host to a slew of international jazz artistes as well. Drinking, naturally occurs as an afterthought. Best place for a date night.

Yelp
To celebrate my good friend's b'day on 19th April 2019, I decided to treat her to a meal and show by ROZZ: Tribute to Elton John at NBT as she has been wanting to go there for a long time. As it was weekday, we were advised by the staff that we had to be there by 7.30pm if we intended to have dinner. Not to disappoint my friend on her b'day, I rushed to be there against the Friday heavy traffic on time. Once we were there, we were ushered to sit after paying the 'cover charge' for the said show. We then proceeded to order the Tapas and Prosecco set as our meal choice. As the table we were 'asked to sit' was rather small, it was quite difficult to fit the tapas platter + bucket containing the Prosecco but nevertheless, we managed. Once the show started (1st set), we continued to order desert + coffee and we were still enjoying our Prosecco the waitress pushed our food and drink items on the already small table and seated two guests right at our table in-front of us. When the drinks arrived for these two guests, we had to hold our drinks as there was no space on the table to place all of our beverages + the bucket + dessert + coffee. At this point, both my friend and I could hardly see the stage let alone enjoy the evening. I then stepped outside to speak with the manager in charge but was advised that she was not in and proceeded to speak with the 'supervisor' about the unpleasant situation. Instead of listening to my complaint, the said supervisor jumped at me in front of all the other patrons saying that their staff have intact advised me in advance that they will place other guests on our 'small table' if the need arises. After a heated unpleasant discussion, the supervisor then went to speak with his staff member concerned only to learn that he forgot to inform us of the said 'seating arrangements'. The supervisor offered NO APOLOGY but went in and informed the two guests that I had complained about them being seated on the same table and offered to move them upstairs. At this point, I was so embarrassed and disgusted with the whole situation, I decided it would be best to leave the premise and continue elsewhere. Before I left I insisted on getting the contact details of the manager in charge, Stephanie. I called Stephanie the next morning to express my dissatisfaction and after a long chat, Stephanie offered me to come back to NBT to redeem the reputation of the establishment. On 7th July, I decided to take up on this offer and contacted Stephanie to make a booking for a meal and show for both my husband and I as he was going to be in KL for 3 weeks. I was then advised by Stephanie that she will have Ms Zuli the current manager to contact me as she had left NBT. On 9th July (two days later) i received a text from Ms Zuli stating 'I will find show for you and your husband to attend within the next two weeks at No Black Tie and we will offer you a Concert and Dinner package free of charge to compensate for the misunderstanding in April.' FYI, until today I have not heard from your manager Ms Zuli. I need to stress here that I have tried calling MS Zuli both on her mobile and NBT bar on more that 20 occasions but have failed to speak with her. I spent a little more than RM500 on 19th April to celebrate my friend's bday but was treated so poorly and this ruined her special day.

Yelp
The music is top notch. It's like being in New Orleans, but in Malaysia! The food is ok. Definitely eat before you come here! The ambiance is very intimate with great spots throughout the cozy bar. Great location with several options for eating. It doesn't hurt that it was a two minute walk from our hotel. I loved seeing other younger people enjoying jazz, don't see that to much back in the states.

Yelp
BEST LIVE BAND SPOT!! Loving all the musicians they bring in here :) I'm a jazzy acoustic kinda person so yeah you know what I mean haha I was here to support one of my friend's gig and it was full house! Really love the people in there as they were so supportive and also very friendly. I was assigned to sit with two lads who are both foreigners, one from the UK and another from Ireland. They were really nice folks and are really impressed with us Malaysians :) Waiters are friendly there and they are very helpful too. The stage looks small but very well equipped with proper audio and lightings. Oh yes, not to mention, food was good too! I ordered some special fries the waiters claim as the best seller, couldn't remember the name because it was kinda dark inside. So yeah :) Try it the next time you go there. They will have a list of band performing on different days, their website will have all the details. (tip given by the two amazing gentleman I sat with) So sit back, relax and enjoy these music!

Yelp
If you are a live music buff, and love intimate settings this is "The Spot" for you. We saw Fatima (Ms. Tima) and was truly impressed. Now I was not impressed with the tapas probably because I hadn't eaten since breakfast and I needed a hardy meal. Other than that great great place!!!!

Yelp
LOVED this venue and the talented artists! We had the pleasure of enjoying Christmas songs and the show was so much more than I had anticipated. Great menu, and the little food bites were soooooo delicious! Ordered the Spanish tortilla, curry chicken skewers, sirloin steak with Camembert and goat cheese tomato walnut.... YUM! :) We had so much fun that we skipped our dinner plans.

Yelp
I came here one night with a bunch of friends to watch Joanna Kam the local stand-up comedian and it was really good! The location is in the middle of changkat and yes barely any parking and you have to 'trust' the valet that is there but atleast now with uber and such we dont have to worry about things like that anymore. The restaurant/bar also hosts jazz nights so you could check it out if you like that sort of thing. The interior os chic and minimalist. Besides that, we had a ball of a time . We had some nice drinks had a bit of finger food and the rest was history .

Yelp
NBT is without a doubt one of the best places to see live music in KL and perhaps even all of South East Asia. The concept is classy and the owner spared no expense when it comes to the sound. The walls are covered in beautiful wood and the sound in there is as good as it looks. The sound system is unparalleled in the city. I have seen some bands like The Basement Syndicate in many locations throughout the city and the sound at NBT is the best. All the nuances are super clear and it is never ear shatteringly loud. All of the best musicians in the area play here. The Basement Syndicate, John Ashley Thomas, Patrick Terbrack, and Pure Energy just to make a few. They also have a great variety of visiting artists from around the world. I've heard everything from reggae to classical at NBT. There are often complaints about service and I can't say they are totally unfounded. I have had a few unfortunate interactions but in the end this place is still great. Just show up on time for you table and you should be ok.

Yelp
No black tie is probably the most unique performance bars around KL. It is known for hosting Jazz events. If you're a regular, you'll know that renowned artists often occupy the stage at No Black Tie. I've only been there a few times to watch my friends perform but everytime I go. It's a good experience. They sure have good wine (according to my friends!). This place is right at the center of the main city party spot called 'Changkat'. It's off 'Jalan Nagasari' and at the same row as 'Nagaba', 'Pisco' which is all opposite the famous club 'LUST'. I don't know why but every time I'm there I feel like the waiters are not as friendly as they should be?

James L.

Yelp
I absolutely love this space of performing arts. I've been here numerous times on different occasions but attending the same type of performance, which is jazz session. Getting a parking here past 10pm at night on an eventful day is a nightmare. I would always recommend you to go before 9pm for a dinner then adjourn to your next hangout spot. The decoration is functional yet aesthetic. The wooden panels all around gives you this very warm and cozy feeling. The sitting space isn't much but they all come with a great view. There are 2 stories and of course the best seat here are the front row seats on the ground floor. Do always check out their website for the events for the month and go early before the event to ensure you get your good seats. You can call in to reserve but you have to be on time else your seats might be given out to the next patron.

Yelp
I came here about a year ago, absolutely horrible experience. We came just for some late night drinks. The owner was completely plastered drunk, Evelyn Hii. She seems like a quirky lady in the first place, but add some alcohol to that and she turns into an extremely rude unprofessional woman unfit to own a restaurant. I was there with a couple friends, she repeatedly went up to one of them asking him all sorts of uncomfortable questions, continuously stating "I am from the future..." she was out of her mind. On top of all of this, some of her friends from England were there. One of them obviously flirted with me in front of my boyfriend, who was standing right next to me. It was made clear to him that I was uncomfortable, but he continued to make advances. I couldnt handle it anymore when he began physical advances and left. None of the staff did anything to help. Obviously the owner was too trashed to notice anything, but I couldn't imagine her doing anything even in a sober state. Horrible experience. I don't plan on ever coming back here if the owner is the same.

Yelp
If you're looking for a cozy place to wine down, NBT is the place for you! The music and ambiance was great however the selection of food and wine were very limited!

Yelp
One of Kl's premier Jazz spots, No black tie has been a staple to many Jazz enthusiasts and the budding casual fans such as myself who always takes pleasure in indulging in the finer arts, where Jazz takes center stage. While No black tie serves as a hybrid breeding ground of music, drinks and music don't be fooled into thinking that its cuisine is the main entrée of the night, while the food and drinks are decent, they are merely there to complement what is an excellent music experience. No black tie, from my experience has never failed to deliver, the musicians and their respective set lists have always impressed me whilst I lounge and dine, but if you're looking for something in particular check out their website, stalk the artists and plan your night out.
