No. 1 Pery Square (Limerick, Shannon / Limerick area) 3 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"It’s all the way the other side of Ireland from Dublin, but the boutique townhouse hotel No. 1 Pery Square could, in a pinch, serve as a setting for a film of Joyce’s “The Dead.” Originally built in 1830 and restored with great precision, the hotel gets the aesthetic just right, from the ornate marble hearth to the gilt-framed mirrors. It never verges on rococo, but if the common areas feel a bit too vintage for your tastes, fifteen of the twenty guest rooms have been made over in a more modern, clubbier style." - Tablet Hotels

Unfortunately my experience was not positive. I booked a room and reserved a table in restaurant for Friday Jan 2nd. Plans changed and when I received an email to confirm my reservation I cancelled; received email confirmation of cancellation and believed all was cancelled. On Saturday Jan 3rd, I received an email notifying that as I had not cancelled the previous night I was liable for room charge. I sent a copy of email confirming cancellation only to be told this was for restaurant only and not room. I received no email regarding my room booking close to arrival date or call on Jan 2nd to confirm my booking or arrival time. I genuinely believed room reservation was cancelled and advised hotel of same. I telephoned to explain that I believed all was cancelled and offered to leave full value of booking as a credit with hotel to rebook at a later date. They were pleasant but wanted payment for room on Jan 2nd. After some discussion I agreed to pay 112 euros for a room I didn't occupy. On Monday Jan 5th, I received an email thanking me forJan 2nd booking & hoped I was well rested & enjoyed my stay and requested feedback Very annoyed that hotel can send automated emails for reviews but no reminders for booking. Emailed hotel with feedback, acknowledged my email but no positive outcome. Very expensive cost on New Years weekend.

We had a meal here tonight and I have to say I was very underwhelmed. I had heard so many great reviews of this restaurant we just had to try it.|Starter was lovely, I had the prawns and other half had the Brie and he enjoyed it. |We both had the rib eye steak and to be honest both of our streaks (mine more so) was chewy and muscly. Chips were grand but nothing memorable to be honest. It was cooked perfectly just not enjoyable or memorable. |Dessert was nice and cocktails were really nice but overall I wouldn’t recommend for the price.

I cannot recommend this hotel enough. |We stayed for a 2 night break and booked an evening meal.|The food was absolutely fantastic, we had lunch from the menu both days and an evening meal which were all excellent. Breakfast is cooked as ordered so no greasy pile like you would receive on a buffet. Freshly squeezed orange juice and china cups and saucers. The staff were so friendly and attentive, we couldn’t fault anything. |The hotel itself is in an excellent location with a mere 5-7 min walk from main O’Connell street. |We will be back for sure, a throughly lovely experience.

Our stay at 1 Pery Square was absolutely remarkable. Damien was incredibly kind throughout our visit and made us feel genuinely welcomed from the moment we arrived. It was truly one of the nicest experiences we’ve ever had. The room was beautiful, the food was exceptional and the spa was just incredible. An absolutely outstanding experience in every way and looking forward to returning. Thank you 🙏

We absolutely loved this hotel! The hotel is on a quiet street in the Georgian quarter. We slept great and had a nice dinner at the restaurant (though it is pretty pricey). The included breakfast was amazing, too! We booked the classic club double and the room was a bit small but perfect for us for 1 night. Lots of charm as the hotel is an older property. Amazing service as well, all the staff was helpful and pleasant. |If I ever find myself back in Limerick, this is where I would stay.

No. 1 Pery Square is an unexpected gem in Limerick! The style and design are truly incomparable and meticulous. We loved the unique, luxurious details—from the comforting scents throughout to the quirky garden art featuring vintage motors and machines. Service is impeccable, the spa was pristine, and the food and drink were superb. A genuinely relaxing, high-quality experience. Highly recommend!

From the moment we rang to see if they had availability we were impressed with No.1. Damien on the phone was warm and welcoming. When we arrived we were directed to their parking which is a 1 minute walk from the premises. |The premises are luxurious. We had lunch there on the day we arrived and were very impressed. Later that evening after a day in Limerick and a lovely meal in a local restaurant we got back at around 8pm. There are no tea/coffee facilities in the room but were were told we could have tea delivered to the room, on the house. We ordered tea for the three of us. Three pots of tea ( made with proper tea leaves!) arrived promptly with a few biscuits. It was a nice touch! |The next morning the breakfast was delicious. And cooked fresh to order. Even the orange juice was brought to our table on a tray and served to us. I had bacon and eggs ( unfortunately they had run out of gluten free bread this morning) and a lovely cup of fresh coffee. My wife and daughter had the french toast and tea and were both delighted. |The room itself was lovely. Beautifully decorated and very warm and cosy. |If I find myself in Limerick again I would definitely stay here again and, in fact, I would nearly travel to Limerick just to stay here.

Yelp
I purposely chose to stay at 1 Pery Square to rest and regroup during a December '24 trip to Ireland. I wasn't disappointed. Absolutely everything was marvelous: My room was spacious, well-stocked, cozy, quiet and with a large bathroom; the bar and lounge/cafe on the ground floor offered a delicious menu--both full lunches and evening light fare--along with well-made drinks; the spacious breakfast room was a treat (think shakshuka, eggs Benedict, porridge, French toast); the staff, especially at the front desk, was courteous and considerate; and the spa, where I booked a lovely facial, was professional and relaxing. A special shout-out to the young man at the front desk who took care of all my requests, respected that I didn't want to be disturbed but was always available for a little chat when I emerged from my room. He helped to make my brief stay that much more enjoyable. The only negative comments I would make are that the carpet in my room needed cleaning or replacing. And I wasn't aware there was a rubber bath mat available upon request (perhaps it could be placed on the tub automatically), making climbing in and out of the tub to take a shower a bit precarious. I'd return just to stay at 1 Pery Square. Thanks for such a marvelous visit!

Yelp
Stopped here for a lovely lunch one afternoon. Loved the ambience and small tables! I didn't eat much, but what I had was perfect. Butternut squash soup with the wonderful Guinness bread I ate my weight in all over Ireland. I wasn't that hungry, but I chose to have dessert -- it was a fresh lime sorbet with lime rinds added. Really popped! The friends I was with had other dishes, which they also enjoyed -- including the hotel's own sticky toffee pudding, to which I was a stranger before I visited Ireland, and which my endocrinologist is really mad I discovered while I was there! Really lovely place!

Yelp
This is a quaint hotel that has perhaps some historical charm to it but because of that it also comes with some drawbacks that may be more important to the modern traveler. There was not air conditioning which was not a problem while we were traveling but it could be with the increasing heat in the summer. Also as many people may have a car, there is little to no parking and the street parking requires your car to be moved during the day. I also hated that there was no coffee maker in the room as I am an early riser. But that all said, the hotel was very helpful in regards to these quirks. For one, they generously allowed us to park in front of the hotel the day we had a tour and could not move our car and then they moved our car to their small and limited parking lot. They also will serve you coffee at the bar downstairs as the person working the front desk early in the morning will make it for you. The location was nice albeit off the beaten path but it made it quiet too.

Yelp
Wonderful experience end to end, including breakfast (my French toast was out of this world!) and dinner (best seafood chowder ever!)! Thank you No 1 Pery Square for an unforgettable experience!

Yelp
This is one of my favourite spots in Limerick. Whether you are staying, enjoying a spa treatment, lunch, dinner or just a coffee the atmosphere, decor and view of the park in The Park Lounge it always feels like a relaxing break from the world. I usually head to the Lounge but on the last occasion I ate there it was so busy I ate in Sash Restaurant upstairs. I was allowed to select from the bar menu. I opted for the No1 BLT on Sourdough and French fries (€12). I love the chips here and these were perfectly crispy. The sandwich was delicious. Good value for €12. There are cheaper options in other places but this is filling, tasty and presented well. Occasionally I opt for dessert and this time I decided to treat myself and chose Emma's Sticky Toffee pudding (€7). Really tasty, lots of flavour. There's always good choice on the menu. The food is consistently good and the staff are exceedingly nice and attentive. This is why it gets 5 stars from me.

Yelp
No1 Pery Square provides the best service I've ever experienced. When we arrived before check-in time, we were served a complimentary pot of tea while the staff hurried to ready our room. When we were about to miss breakfast, we got a call from the dining room host asking us if we would be joining them. When we were concerned about getting back from an evening outing, the reception desk let us know we could always call the hotel if our travel arrangements fell through, and they would take care of us. Our room was luxurious, although not large, and our bathroom was the best I've ever seen in a hotel. We didn't have time to partake of the spa services, unfortunately.

Yelp
No 1 Pery Square was absolutely outstanding. Somehow we managed to get upgraded to the townhouse suite. It was extremely well appointed with two bedrooms and a spacious bathroom. More than enough space for two couples or a family. Service was excellent from check-in to check-out. All of the staff was very friendly and accommodating and even did there best to try to help us find a place to do laundry (which was difficult). Breakfast was excellent as well. We regretted only staying one night!

Yelp
I visited here with a group of friends on a Saturday afternoon after a long day of walking around the city exploring its Georgian heritage. We thought finishing the day off with a glass of wine and some food in No. 1 Pery Square would befit the occasion. 2 of our party were vegetarian and it took all of 10 seconds to find the standard beetroot and goats cheese veggie option on the menu. Yawn. There was little else to choose from so we opted for the mushrooms on sourdough and rosemary salted chips. What came out wasn't enough food for the cat! A saucer with a sliver of sourdough and a dusting of mushrooms for €7. The chips were unseasoned and looked and tasted like they came out of the frozen food section of Dunnes. What an utter disappointment. The wine list was good and the toilets were clean, those were the high points. So essentially you're paying for your surroundings. Restaurants really need to get some imagination when it comes to serving vegetarian options. Peploes in Dublin has a fabulous vegan and vegetarian menu, and caters for all tastes. No. 1 could do with some inspiration!

Yelp
Amazing hotel ! In my opinoin best place for dinner and afternoon tea in Limerick. Furnished in Georgian style and overlooking the park, this place has perfect ambiance. Excellent wine, coffee and food. Ticks all boxes. Lovely staff. The rhubarb bellini is a must have. Great smoking garden too. :) Love it and a must see to all tourists.

Yelp
A hidden treasure in Limerick city with a beautiful Georgian decor overlooking People's Park. As a frequent customer of No. 1 Pery Square I have experienced not only the brunch, lunch, and afternoon tea but I have also had the pleasure of their Spa treatments which offer use of the thermal suite. The service from the staff is top class, and the complimentary customer private parking is a fantastic bonus in the centre of the city. The prices are extremely reasonable, great value for money in fact when taking into consideration the quality of the services, the aesthetics, location and ambiance of the hotel. The afternoon tea is a must with friends or family over the Christmas season, it is hosted in the drawing room where the fire is on and you can have a delightful glass of bubbly. A must see by all!! Highly recommended!!!
