Firstly, it's not the easiest place to find and the lack of signage doesn't help. Follow Google Maps directions, though when it says you have arrived look for the sign saying "Rosie's Place" (down another little alley off to the right, about 15M), as this is where their reception is. The lovely Vietnamese couple who own this, have at least one other accommodation business, all close together.
The Nocknoy Lanexang has parking for motorbikes outside the building, so if you arrive by bike park inside (ramp just pass the stairs entry) and walk down to reception (NB: This is where the very basic and underwhelming breakfast is served - eg. Scrambled Eggs are basically and fried egg over easy, mashed up and does not resemble proper scrambled eggs.)
Now, the accommodation is moderately basic, and standard with what you'll find elsewhere in Luang Prabang within the price range. Overall, an old building, with old fixtures and furnishings along with a very basic, yet functional private bathroom. If you want good, modern nice accommodations, then budget for over USD100 per night (easily). NB: If you want good value for money, Laos is not the country for you...Vietnam is! Personally, I have found anything in Laos that you can't get/see/eat/experience in Vietnam (with the exception of totally horrendous road conditions).
My allocated room was rather small, consisting of a functional A/C, 2x double beds pushed together (mattresses were hard - 7/10 on a hardness scale), a non-operating flatscreen TV (quite standard in Laos....only for show and not for functionality), a bedside table (located in the corner away from the bed....and the lamp/kettle on it wouldn't reach the only powerpoint outlet in the room = practically useless). My private bathroom was smallish, but functional, though you had to have the water pressure turned down rather low to receive any instant hot water (direct electrical heater type). I did have to share my room with a few mosquitoes...it could've been resolved but I didn't bother to raise the issue. Soundproofing was a significant negative aspect with any heavy footsteps (or guests ignorantly dragging furniture) was definitely loud. WiFi was sporadic at best, and at times frustratingly inept.
The property was good for me as it was pet friendly, without attracting an extra fee - which is a blatant scam practised by several, other unscrupulous accommodation providers. It was sufficient enough to extend my stay for an extra night whilst I got my Honda Airblade fixed (at Van Ho Motorcycle Repairs....definitely don't use Honda SPL!!)
The big positive (apart from the friendly, helpful and hospitable owners) is it's location. Everything is within a short walking distance (mini-marts, bars, cafes, restaurants, street food stalls, laundry, bakeries, night markets etc).
Would I return here....possibly, but I wouldn't bother returning to Luang Prabang (I have renamed it to Luang Chinabang, and Laos is now the 23rd province of PRC).
