This is probably one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. It was a very special stay for me, and my first time in Kyoto. Everything about the hotel has been designed with taste and practicality. The design of the rooms and foyer feel modern and luxurious. The breakfast provided was bespoke and felt special. The warmness and hospitality of the staff did not go unnoticed. I look forward to returning to this hotel in the near future and commend the owner and the staff of this hotel.

There is much to appreciate about Node and I could recommend. The professionalism and consideration of the front desk team is 6 stars exceptional. Despite the age of the hotel the overall design aesthetics of the hotel are modern, minimal, and pleasing to the eyes. But at the end of the day hotels are first and foremost about ensuring a quality night sleep and in that department some improvements could be made. Black out curtains would help as would the option of providing some softer pillows. My primary objection is with the AC cooling system. It works well at quickly cooling the room but even with the fan at its lowest setting it’s blowing a significant wind directly onto your body and that is less than ideal for one’s chi / energy preservation. I tried with the AC unit off and that proved to be on on the warm side. Room is relatively large in size by Japan standards and all though the fridge cabinet door was a bit broken I found the bathroom design to be particularly attractive. There is no TV in the room which I certainly don’t mind. I really appreciate the complimentary water and blue tooth speeker. On the breakfast front the menu could be potentially challenging for vegetarians unless you really LOVE red peppers, yellow peppers, ( both in the soup and main course ) and eggplant. A protein like avocado / almond butter / or eggs would be a good direction to go if they ever decide to evolve the menu. Should be mentioned that the food was very aesthetically pleasing.

I’m pretty sure beds in prison are more comfortable. A cement mattress with flat, cement pillows. No tv? The duvet had stains on it. Gross. We couldn’t get the ac to switch off of heat so had to prop the window open and hear the road traffic all night. Someone also thought it was a great idea to put the shower amenities behind the stream of water so you have to reach through it. Not enough counter or storage spaces. Everything here is form over function. Also, not as convenient to transportation as we thought it would be.

Absolutely amazing place to stay! It’s a very minimalistic hotel that makes you feel more at home and grounded while on vacation. I was only here for a couple nights for the photography festival and I am already looking at flights back. This was an experience that has been and will not be unrivaled by all my other travels. Truly a must stay place and the location is perfect, easy walking to just about anywhere you want to go. I will recommend this place to all my friends to stay when visiting! Also, to add the food is great and the drinks are super well priced.

I like this hotel for its brutalist minimalist design and it’s definitely unlike your average hotel. The bedding was firm but comfortable and the pillows were Japanese type with the beans and for side sleeper, it was adequate. i stayed in the smallest (aka cheapest) room and find the space similar to many other Japanese business hotels’ single bed rooms. The bathroom was glass walled and makes it look spacious. Water pressure was very good and bathroom amenities are good quality (though take note there was no lotion/moisturizer - I was there in fall and the dry weather definitely made my skin crack, luckily I packed my own moisturizer). ||There was no TV in the room and because the building is concrete, you actually do not get good mobile connectivity inside the room as well (there even is a note on the desk telling you the in-room radio will not work as the concrete cannot get any radio signals so the speaker only works as a bluetooth speaker).||Also, because it was fall when I stayed, they already switched off the main AC and only had central heating on which I find it to be overly warm for the small room size as it wasn’t that cold yet, so I mostly turned off the AC and open the bathroom window for ventilation. ||Location wise, it is in between two subway stations, but the bus stop outside the hotel does bring you to everywhere easily - I’ve been to Kyoto four times in the past 12 months and stayed at different hotels and this is the one that I dislike the most for location but its comfort is good. Nonetheless, because I can navigate the city quite easily by bus, this hotel was ok for me. Also, the train (not JR) to Osaka and Nagoya is around 3 blocks, or 15min walk away.

Such a wonderful stay at Node Hotel. The rooms are small and cute, but well decorated and thoughtful on layout. The staff was kind and the lobby bar was a good spot to get a cocktail after exploring all day in Kyoto

Very polite, professional staff. And the rooms and the place itself are simply new, the shower is the best in Japan. And the location is also great!

We stayed at Node Hotel in 2023 and returned for a second time in 2025! This is a truly fantastic hotel, very centrally located but still tucked away on a quiet street. The rooms are spacious and thoughtfully designed, and the service is impeccable. Make sure to book your room with breakfast, which is individually cooked for you with fresh ingredients daily. We will definitely return again on our next trip to Kyoto!
