Nohga Hotel Kiyomizu Kyoto (Kyoto Prefecture, Japan) 2 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Though its meaning may have drifted in translation, the Nohga Hotel Kiyomizu Kyoto promises an insider view of what it calls “hot Kyoto” — the vibrant, modern city that is informed, but not constrained, by a long, long cultural evolution. In more concrete terms this means a youthful, stylish version of Kyoto, and one that admits of plenty of Western influence as well. Cicon, the restaurant, features Italian dishes prepared in a Josper charcoal oven, made from Kyoto-grown and -produced ingredients. The bakery, too, is a loving tribute to European breads, though made from Japanese wheat. And the rooftop bar, with its far-ranging views of the city, is a concept that transcends cultures." - Tablet Hotels

This hotel had our favorite room during our stay in Japan. Super cozy and comfortable. I don't always think hotel's have the best food - but the restaurant here was excellent for dinner. We also loved the rooftop at sunset. Staff was kind and helpful. We also did laundry here which was simple, affordable, and easy. Would recommend!

You should stay here for a plethora of reasons. It’s freaking HOT in Kyoto in the summer and the AC here really hits! The shower is unbelievably awesome. That’s plenty of reason to stay here already!||But the breakfast buffet is also really good and the service is spectacular. Vicky at the front desk and her colleagues are very helpful calling taxis, etc. ||The rooms are spotless and have mini fridges, irons, safe, and plenty of charging. The included hotel WiFi is excellent. ||They are happy to keep your bags safe until checkin at 3 PM. ||They will do same day laundry if you get it to them by 10 AM. We used that today as we are in Japan for almost three weeks. ||Would stay here again without hesitation.

I stayed here with my family which was part of a larger group and we all experienced top notch service. The staff was very attentive, easy to work with, and handled details like the check in process, handling baggage, and having umbrellas extremely well. We had been traveling a lot so we appreciated having a nice hotel where excellent food was available at the hotel. We enjoyed the food at the roof top bar and the view of the temple enhanced the experience. There were many options for breakfast (including made to order hot items like omelettes), we enjoyed the steak (and sweet sauce) at the rooftop bar and had my wife's birthday dinner at the hotel restaurant. There is a fun vibe in the lobby and they even had a band play in the lobby one night. The location is great for exploring Kyoto near fun shopping areas and Kiyomizu-dera temple. Rooms were clean and a good size. Highly recommend this hotel.

Absolutely fantastic experience staying at the Nohga Hotel. We stayed at multiple hotels in Japan & this was our favourite.|From the fabulous staff, well appointed, comfortable & spacious room to the fantastic facilities, everything was top notch. We stayed 6 nights & had 2 dinners at the restaurant; so good! The rooftop bar was perfect for a relaxing afternoon. The location is also central to everything.|For anyone looking for the perfect hotel in Kyoto, look no further. Loved our stay❤️

I came to stay at the Nohga hotel at the recommendation from Tokyo's hotel Niwa and, boy, was I grateful for it. I loved the location, close to |Kiyomizu-dera but also within a walking distance to the centre of Kyoto. I loved the sound systems in the rooms, I love the typical attentiveness of staff and attention to detail. ||What I loved even more were delightful surprises. I did not expect to have actual slices of truffle on my splendid truffle pasta at their Cicon restaurant (expertise at Italian cuisine) right next to the best croissants I had in Japan at their bakery (French-trained team). A truly international experience, as well as a quintessentially Japanese one - fab!

Amazing hotel with a vibrant young staff. The rooftop bar serves excellent cocktails, and the restaurant is also top-notch – definitely a highlight of the stay. However the atmosphere created by American tourists were noticeable. A certain amount were very loud and lacked consideration for others, which affected the overall very elegant ambiance. As an European traveler seeking a quieter or more cultured environment this might be a downside.

This was an excellent hotel. The rooms were clean and spacious with a very nice shower room and high end toilet. The hotel is very modern and fairly elegant, it seems to cater to European tourists and all of the staff members spoke good English. The location is very good, close to Gion and there is a subway stop nearby. The hotel also rents e-bikes for a very affordable rate, but be sure to reserve in advance if you can. The bed was a bit firm but better than another hotel we had stayed at in Osaka. There is a very nice cafe and restaurant as well as a rooftop patio / bar at the hotel. Food and drinks were very good but expensive by Japanese standards. Would highly recommend staying here.

From the moment you walk in you feel at home. Beautiful clean large rooms. The robes are silky and the bedding comforter is like a cloud. Ate dinner on the rooftop bar area and the bakery for breakfast was superb. Shower/bath room was large and we enjoyed the tub as well. I will only come here when we return to Kyoto.
