NOHGA HOTEL UENO TOKYO

The hotel is amazing. We stayed with two toddlers (4 and 2) and were very satisfied. Excellent location, amazing staff, great food, comfy and spacious rooms. Breakfast is really good and has a great selection of courses. Dinner was amazing, on par with any high-end restaurants in the area and had one of the best chicken salads we ever had. The rooms are super clean and larger than the average hotel room in Japan. The location itself is perfect, just 5 minutes walk from Ueno station.

I had an excellent three-night stay at this hotel in Ueno, Tokyo, and would gladly return for a longer visit.The location is a major strength. It’s a five-minute walk to Ueno Station, offering seamless access to JR lines, multiple subway routes, and the Skyliner—making one-line travel to most major Tokyo hubs effortless. The surrounding area is equally convenient, with plenty of late-night food and drink options just minutes away.The hotel itself is thoughtfully designed. The interior feels modern and intentional, with attention to detail that genuinely improves comfort. The room was clean, well laid out, and practical. The bed was comfortable, power outlets and lighting controls were placed exactly where you’d expect them, and nothing felt poorly considered.Amenities are another highlight. The hotel offers excellent in-room amenities, a very good restaurant on the ground floor, and useful shared facilities including laundry machines, a microwave, and a gym on the second floor—all easy to access and well maintained.Overall, this hotel delivers on both convenience and comfort. It’s a smart choice for travelers who value efficient transport access, good design, and functional amenities. I only wish my stay had been longer.

Conveniently located close to the Ueno station. Boutique type hotel with a pleasant vibe. The room was modern with utilitarian decor. Everything has a purpose. There were bedside outlets for charging phones, and other devices. The beds were firm. The shower was hot and we liked the rain shower head. Room size pretty typical for Japan. No complaints. The staff was friendly. On-site restaurant seemed busy and we were sorry that we never tried it. A minor suggestion for the staff, in addition to the breakfast “sets” offer just coffee and croissants/muffins as well.

I LOVE THIS HOTEL. I love everything about this hotel. The room, services, location, and access. The front desk were all English speakers, very helpful, and friendly. The lobby was very fragrant, giving the vibe of a chic modern boutique hotel. Amenities were provided in front of the front desk, including cleansing oils, creams, lotions, tooth brushes etc. They also have a wash and fold services started from ¥4000. They also can arrange luggage delivery service using Yamato Kuroneko. They have laundry room including a topload washer, a dryer, an ironing table and an iron, water dispenser, coin exhanger, a seating area, a coin welcome drink station where they have options of sake, wine and juices. They also have an outdoor balcony which they use for smoking area. This balcony also has its separated stairs for entrance and exit to the hotel. The room were chic and modern. Our room has a double/queen bed, a separated toilet and shower, a modern hanger, a drawer, a small area for a sink, fridge, a small mud area behind the door. They provided you with night gowns. TV was oddly placed though, but considering the tight space, to fit a 40ish inch TV is actually nice. The room was quiet. This hotel is located near Ueno station which is great. You can access it directly from the underground and lead you straight up the main streets using elevator if you travel with suitcases. Stairs were available too. It is situated only 2 blocks away from Ameyoko market. There was a 711 just across the streets. There are also other conbini in the surrounding a few blocks away. Only 2 blocks away from halal ramen. All in all, i would love to stay at this hotel again and recommend it to adult travellers.

We were happy with everything. The location is convenient and still quiet. Everyone was really nice. The room were tasteful. One thing to improve is the light concept in the standard double room. Around the bed area, it was quiet dark, even with the lights on (just a really smallish complain)

Beautiful, modern hotel with a great design vibe! The front desk staff were super helpful. They upgraded my room to a suite for free (WOW!) and it was HUGE!!! The biggest hotel room I stayed in in my 2 week trip across Japan. I was able to purchase late check-out before my flight which was great too. Nice fridge and amenities, very quiet, beautiful fixtures in the room. The surrounding streets are very quiet, 7/11 a few doors down, yet only a 5 min walk to Ueno Station and the VERY bustling Ameyoko Shopping Street + nightlife area. Would stay again!

Very pleasantly surprised by how nice the hotel is for its price. Even though it's rated as a 3 star hotel, it's actually better than some of the 4 star Japanese hotels I have stayed at. The front desk staff all spoke good english and were super friendly/helpful, even by Japanese standards. Rooms are modern, spacious and quiet (the area is quiet as well). Super close to the Ueno train station to get to anywhere. Would highly recommend.

Well located since it is only 300 m from the lively centre of Ueno with restaurants, bars and shops. Ueno station is only a mere 500 m away, 7 minutes on foot. Very comfortable and clean. Large rooms by Tokyo standard. And it’s QUIET so you’ll get a good sleep.

Pro: the Before coming to tokyo, I was thinking of staying near shinjuku or shibuya for convenience. But after looking at different sites, everyone kept saying that Ueno was the way to go and they were right! This place is located very close to Ueno station. Pretty much anywhere you want to go to tokyo, you can go there by going to the ueno station bc there are tons of metro lines going through there. The hotel staff was very friendly. Forgot your toiletries? The hotel has some for you near the front desk. Dont want to use the hotel toiletries? There are 7/11 pretty much on every block that you can go to for those and other snacks. Want to go out and eat some late night snacks? There is a HUGE market a few minutes away by walking and you can pick and choose from any local stalls. Too lazy and prefer a place a few steps away? There are tons of other restaurants outside of the hotel as well. Want to get tax free cosmetic/skincare gifts for your fam/friends? Yup, theyre located everywhere near the hotel. Con: There are 2 washers and 2 dryers. We used the washers, went downstairs, just to find out the guests before us decide to add 1 extra hr to the drying time. Luckily, theres a 24 hr laundromat 6 minutes away from the hotel by walking. We went there and dried our clothes for 200 yen. Cheap as can be. And way quicker on drying time too.

Stayed here 3 nights when we arrived to Japan and it was the perfect base for us to find our feet. Just a very short walk from Ueno station, it's located in a quieter side of the area, so perfect if that's your vibe. The room itself was really comfortable if on the smaller side, but that's definitely to be expected of a city centre hotel. There wasn't any coffee in the room, but that's a small gripe when they serve coffee at breakfast anyway. Again, the gym is "cosy", but they've got the essentials you'll need. Where this place comes into its own is the bistro, which also serves at the bar. The food is magnificent - not what you'd call authentic, but superb nonetheless. The charcuterie had a Japanese flair, serving chicken gizzard, and was delicious. I also had the pork, which was also cooked to perfection. Our server was brilliant: she spoke impeccable English and gave us all the info about the local area we could need, as well as the hotel's printed map and guide to Ueno. The buffet-style breakfast is great. A huge variety of pickled vegetables and salad items if you fancy going local, as well as pastries and granola if you don't. We opted for the hot breakfast options as well, which included a Japanese breakfast that I wasn't brave enough to try; the French toast and open sandwich, however, were both amazing. All in all, a perfect base camp for first-time explorers.

We stayed one night at the Nohga Hotel Ueno before flying home, and had a wonderful stay. The hotel is only a few years old and is located in the Ueno neighborhood of Tokyo which is a quieter, somewhat upscale area of the city. It is close to the trains and many good restaurants, and there is a large, beautiful park a 5 minute walk away. The hotel is very attractive and modern in design. There is a large, open, airy indoor-outdoor restaurant which was quite good. It has a small fitness center with a good selection of equipment and weights. The room was a bit small but well laid out and appointed. The bed was on the harder side but it didn't stop me from getting a good nights sleep. The service was outstanding. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful with directions, taxis, trains, and they allowed us to have a late check out. The price we paid for the room was great for the quality. I would definitely stay here again!

Super Convenient: It is located in a quiet small street, minutes away from JR, Keisei and Tokyo Metro Ueno Station; 2 blocks from Metro #3 exit, 7Eleven and Lawson half block away. Housekeeping/Room: Fast and efficient. Room is kept clean, and cozy. Takes less than 30 min. to clean up our mess. Only thing I did not like is the flat pillows. Reception staff: Superb friendly service all around. A big shout-out to Sachiko-san, who helped us with last minute booking due to change in itinerary on Christmas. Food: Bistro served delicious French cuisine, using fresh, in-season ingredients; flavorful and picturesque.
