"Nohga Hotel Ueno Tokyo stands just a couple of stops to the north of the commercial center of Tokyo on the JR line, making it convenient for visits to many of the city’s neighborhoods, even as it inhabits an area that’s something of a cultural center in its own right. Elegant, understated rooms feature warm, minimalist design, brand-name toiletries, and spa-like rain showers. There’s a fitness center, though a bike rental may provide all the exercise you need. The Nohga has its own bistro-style restaurant, featuring traditional Japanese and Western breakfasts, casual lunches, and thoughtful French fare at dinner." - Tablet Hotels

Charming hotel in a relatively quiet area. It’s very close to Ueno Station making it incredibly convenient. Nearby Ueno Park is lovely with great museums. There are plenty of shops and restaurants nearby as well. ||The room was bigger than a lot of European hotels I’ve seen, clean, quiet, and well appointed. Staff were friendly and helpful, allowing us to check in a little early after our long flight and sending our luggage down to Kyoto easily. ||I highly recommend. I only wish we had tried the restaurant.

We love the hotel as a family. The front desk and restaurant staff were accommodating and helpful with requests. The hotel has washing machines and dryers available and a v small gym which we found to be so convenient. The location is superb literally next to the subway and near the museums.

The hotel is a gem, the hardware are top notch. It’s using Balmuda water boiler, shampoo from Osaji, a gym, welcome wines: drinks, a cozy balcony on the 2F for us to chill out. Location wise is impeccable - it is conveniently located in a serene street within a hustling neighbourhood. Just 3-5 mins walk to the metro and JR station. 1010 mall next door. Services is the best part, front desk staff speaks good English and very helpful. We left our large luggage for two nights there as we took a short trip to the suburbs and return for the last night in Tokyo before flying back and our luggage is already in our room. We do not need to carry our large luggage all the way up to the room. Really appreciated their thoughtful service. Whenever we walked into the lobby, we are always greeted by friendly staffs. Thank you Will definitely return next time. Highly recommended . It is so much better than Mitsui Garden we stayed last time in Ueno.

A great place to experience a real Japanese-style hotel with its unique rules, systems, and compact room layout. The staff, especially at reception, were incredibly kind and welcoming. The room setup felt a bit unusual and tight for me as a bigger person, so I wouldn’t recommend staying too long, but overall it was an enjoyable and authentic experience.

It's very close to Ueno Station. There are plenty of dining and shopping options nearby, making life quite convenient. The room is small but compact, and all the necessary amenities are fully provided. They are easy to pick up at the counter opposite the front desk. The only issue is that there are relatively few washing machines and dryers—only 2 of each. Since the hotel has a large number of guests, if you need to do laundry, you have to go early. Otherwise, you might end up waiting in line until midnight... (Don't ask me how I know that...)

A modern hotel in an old neighbourhood. The room was spacious and very well equipped. As you would imagine in Japan it was spotless. The breakfast was plentiful with lots of choices both Japanese and Western. We ate in the hotel one evening and it was a lovely meal. The staff on reception were very helpful. I would say that you had to ask then for maps/ recommendations, it may be better if this is offered on check in. The area itself is really good to access the rest of Tokyo as it is 10 minutes walk to Ueno Station. The local area is very vibrant and it is walking distance to major attractions in Ueno Park.

We stayed here 6 nights. Very clean. Staff can speak good English and all look handsome and pretty. Convenient location. Lots of food options nearby. When the end of our stay, I asked my daughter Do you like Japan, would you like come back and visit? My daughter answer absolutely! I really want to stay in this hotel again! :)

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The staff are helpful, friendly, and speak English, which made everything so easy. The location is fantastic—just a short walk from Ueno Station and right next to a 7-Eleven for quick snacks and essentials.||We booked a larger room, and it was surprisingly spacious—comparable to hotel rooms in the U.S. Everything about the hotel feels thoughtfully designed, from the layout to the small touches that make a big difference. We especially appreciated the high-quality amenities like the bamboo comb and Sekkisei skincare products.||The atmosphere is quiet, safe, and relaxing—perfect for recharging after a day exploring the busy areas of Tokyo. Coming back to the calm of Ueno after the crowds of Shibuya and Harajuku was such a treat.||We’re going to miss this place. Highly recommend it for anyone looking for a peaceful and comfortable stay in Tokyo!

Yelp
Pro: the Before coming to tokyo, I was thinking of staying near shinjuku or shibuya for convenience. But after looking at different sites, everyone kept saying that Ueno was the way to go and they were right! This place is located very close to Ueno station. Pretty much anywhere you want to go to tokyo, you can go there by going to the ueno station bc there are tons of metro lines going through there. The hotel staff was very friendly. Forgot your toiletries? The hotel has some for you near the front desk. Dont want to use the hotel toiletries? There are 7/11 pretty much on every block that you can go to for those and other snacks. Want to go out and eat some late night snacks? There is a HUGE market a few minutes away by walking and you can pick and choose from any local stalls. Too lazy and prefer a place a few steps away? There are tons of other restaurants outside of the hotel as well. Want to get tax free cosmetic/skincare gifts for your fam/friends? Yup, theyre located everywhere near the hotel. Con: There are 2 washers and 2 dryers. We used the washers, went downstairs, just to find out the guests before us decide to add 1 extra hr to the drying time. Luckily, theres a 24 hr laundromat 6 minutes away from the hotel by walking. We went there and dried our clothes for 200 yen. Cheap as can be. And way quicker on drying time too.

Yelp
Stayed here 3 nights when we arrived to Japan and it was the perfect base for us to find our feet. Just a very short walk from Ueno station, it's located in a quieter side of the area, so perfect if that's your vibe. The room itself was really comfortable if on the smaller side, but that's definitely to be expected of a city centre hotel. There wasn't any coffee in the room, but that's a small gripe when they serve coffee at breakfast anyway. Again, the gym is "cosy", but they've got the essentials you'll need. Where this place comes into its own is the bistro, which also serves at the bar. The food is magnificent - not what you'd call authentic, but superb nonetheless. The charcuterie had a Japanese flair, serving chicken gizzard, and was delicious. I also had the pork, which was also cooked to perfection. Our server was brilliant: she spoke impeccable English and gave us all the info about the local area we could need, as well as the hotel's printed map and guide to Ueno. The buffet-style breakfast is great. A huge variety of pickled vegetables and salad items if you fancy going local, as well as pastries and granola if you don't. We opted for the hot breakfast options as well, which included a Japanese breakfast that I wasn't brave enough to try; the French toast and open sandwich, however, were both amazing. All in all, a perfect base camp for first-time explorers.

Yelp
We stayed one night at the Nohga Hotel Ueno before flying home, and had a wonderful stay. The hotel is only a few years old and is located in the Ueno neighborhood of Tokyo which is a quieter, somewhat upscale area of the city. It is close to the trains and many good restaurants, and there is a large, beautiful park a 5 minute walk away. The hotel is very attractive and modern in design. There is a large, open, airy indoor-outdoor restaurant which was quite good. It has a small fitness center with a good selection of equipment and weights. The room was a bit small but well laid out and appointed. The bed was on the harder side but it didn't stop me from getting a good nights sleep. The service was outstanding. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful with directions, taxis, trains, and they allowed us to have a late check out. The price we paid for the room was great for the quality. I would definitely stay here again!

Yelp
Super Convenient: It is located in a quiet small street, minutes away from JR, Keisei and Tokyo Metro Ueno Station; 2 blocks from Metro #3 exit, 7Eleven and Lawson half block away. Housekeeping/Room: Fast and efficient. Room is kept clean, and cozy. Takes less than 30 min. to clean up our mess. Only thing I did not like is the flat pillows. Reception staff: Superb friendly service all around. A big shout-out to Sachiko-san, who helped us with last minute booking due to change in itinerary on Christmas. Food: Bistro served delicious French cuisine, using fresh, in-season ingredients; flavorful and picturesque.
