"When some hotels profess minimalism, you get the impression that they’re striving for an aloof, inhuman emptiness rather than simplicity, clarity and thoughtfulness. Not so with Noku, a medium-sized number at the southwest corner of Kyoto’s imperial palace complex. Simplicity rules the day here — as it should, to distance the neighborhood from the city’s hectic retail sectors — but it’s a warm, breathing simplicity built on acknowledging and fulfilling travelers’ needs." - Tablet Hotels
A wonderfully comfortable stay with elegant Japanese décor that exudes warmth and charm. The staff were genuinely friendly and attentive, offering swift, seamless service that made me feel truly welcome. The Singaporean restaurant just downstairs is an absolute gem—bursting with rich, authentic flavors and a cozy atmosphere that makes it hard to leave. I’ll happily choose this hotel every time I’m in Kyoto.

The rooms were spacious and had water, coffee and tea replenished daily. Located next door to a subway so easy to get everywhere. McDonald’s and 7-11 right nearby in a quiet area near the palace. As a family we had 2 rooms which were 2 floors apart unfortunately, but it worked ok for us in the end. Reception were very friendly.

Fantastic stay at Noku Kyoto
From the moment I arrived, Noku Kyoto impressed me. The location couldn’t be better—just steps from the Kyoto Imperial Palace and close to public transport that makes getting around the city easy.
The entrance has a clean look with warm wood accents and a nice touch of Japanese design.
My room was surprisingly spacious (especially by Japan standards!), and I loved the unique art piece that gave the space character.
I had lunch at the in-house restaurant, Jia Wei Singapore. The prawn set was saucy and delicious—perfect with the rice and sides.
The staff were warm and attentive throughout my stay. It really felt like they genuinely cared, which made everything even more relaxing.
If you’re heading to Kyoto and looking for a boutique hotel with great service and food, Noku Kyoto is a solid choice. Highly recommend!

Room space is big enough. The view outside is fabulous. Breakfast on the first floor is fine with four-five options, which is good enough for all tourists from different regions. What’s more, thr location is great, only two stations away from city centre.

Stayed at the Noku as part of our tour around Japan.||There were some really good aspects to the hotel. The reception staff were wonderful and very helpful indeed. The location is excellent - right next door to the subway and very close to the Imperial Palace. ||The room was very comfortable indeed and extremely clean.||However; the room faced the main road and needed more sound proofing. The bathroom was fine was but a little tired.||Breakfast was the worst we experienced in the country. We stayed three nights and each morning the cooked elements were served nearly cold. The bread rolls, croissants weren’t fresh. It was very busy and towards the end of service items weren’t replaced. ||The bar and restaurant share the same area in the lower floor. It’s a very sterile and unwelcoming area and not one for a relaxed drink after a day exploring. The Singapore restaurant food is average and very expensive. We had to send one dish back as served cold.||This could be a very good hotel. It’s marketed as a boutique hotel - but it has areas to improve to achieve this.||Personally - I would not return.

This is such a great hotel in Kyoto! The staff is friendly and helpful, the breakfast in the hotel is delicious, and the rooms are huge! We really enjoyed our stay here.
Our only word of caution: do not do your laundry with the hotel. We wanted to wash our underwear, 2 new shirts, and a new dress and it was $40 USD. We were expecting to pay between 300-500 yen and it was ¥5,500. We are not happy with how expensive the laundry services were.

Very nice and clean hotel! Singapore restaurant, bar, European & Japanese fusion cafe, and gift shop.
6 floors, with water and ice dispenser on the third & sixth.
Excellent customer service, but noisy toilet, and somewhat thin walls.
