Nomads Airlie Beach Hostel

Overall, we were very satisfied with the campsite. It was nice and spacious, with plenty of washing facilities and toilets, and everything was clean. Another positive aspect is the campsite's excellent location, not far from the city and the beach. Unfortunately, we can only give it 4 stars because we found one thing particularly disappointing. We arrived at the start of Cyclone Koji, so it was already pouring with rain, and when we checked in, we were told that we could have an apartment for an extra charge. We asked if there were already other campers with their vans outside, and we were told yes. So we decided to try it for one night. But what was an absolute no-go was that we got the second-to-last spot under a tree! There wasn't a single car next to us or in front of us. We were really all alone there. Unfortunately, we couldn't move our car in the rain and thunderstorm. We got through the night, but in the morning we immediately moved our car a little closer to the other cars. Just as we had parked, employees came to tell us that we could drive much further forward because of the weather. Unfortunately, it was a little too late for us... Nevertheless, we gratefully drove to the very front and had a great spot. It would have been nice if it had been like that from the start, as the campsite was empty when we arrived and the cyclone was on its way.

Great camping experience! Even during the busy check-in times everything was handled smoothly. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and Rachel in particular made sure everything worked out for us. Really appreciated the effort and the warm attitude!

I had an amazing stay at Nomads Hostel in Airlie Beach! The atmosphere was lively, social, and perfect for meeting new people, and the facilities were clean and well-kept throughout my stay. The location is unbeatable—right in the heart of Airlie Beach, close to everything you need. A special shout-out to Luca at reception. He was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and genuinely went out of his way to help with anything I needed. Whether it was answering questions, giving recommendations, or just offering great vibes, Luca made the whole experience even better. Highly recommend staying here—I’ll definitely be back! 🌟🌴

Kitchen was absolutely disgusting! really let down the whole hostel. Barely any forks to accommodate the amount of people that stay. Constancy with the rooms aren’t amazing some have nicer bathrooms but no curtains. However I have had a lovely stay.

Big and clean rooms with super comfy beds! I slept so well. Mattress and pillow are comfortable, the bunk beds structures are solid and don't make noise when going up and down or moving around at night. Great treatment from Barbara at reception!

Spacious rooms with curtains in beds, big shower and toilet. Lack of storage space so doesn't feel safe to leave your stuff in the room. Big hostel with 2 pools. Kitchen is nice and the location is great!

The place is great, good showers, pool, plenty of space, etc. We had one BIG problem: we left our campervan gear outside, went for a walk, and when we came back, it was gone. We went to ask at reception, and they didn't know. For a whole day, they didn't know where our things were, so we couldn't charge the van's battery or refill the water tank. Before leaving for Townsville, we went to inquire a second time. A Spanish girl named Ana helped us. She said she didn't know anything but that she would ask the maintenance staff. They didn't answer her for 20 minutes, so she went herself to do the job that maintenance should have done from the start. She checked the lost and found room and found our things. I would give it one star, but Ana helped us a lot. Thank you, Ana! 🫶🏼

Chainsaws started at 6:30am and have continued the whole morning as they cut multiple trees down directly outside our room, incredibly loud and we were given no warning about this at all. I appreciate work needs to happen and has to start early, but out of respect for your guests you should inform them. Really unfair for anyone staying in blocks 700-900 and when I spoke to reception about this, they only offered free tea and coffee. A real lack of care for guests when something as simple as a sign could’ve been put up to let everyone know.

Nomads Airlie Beach is a nice backpack with a big camping area. 8 beds dorms or king bed rooms. There is a shower in every rooms and amenities for the camping. A kitchen, TV room, laundry and bar are available for everyone. Happy hours from 4pm to 6pm and 7pm to 9pm at the Shed Bar!

Meh. There were cockroaches in the bathroom. I also don't understand why the kitchen was SO FAR from the rooms. Don't even get me started on how you have to hire literally everything from reception. Knife, cutting board, pots, pans. Why?!!! The day I checked in I had just gotten off the night bus and it was 10am. I couldn't check in until 2pm, which is fine and pretty standard. However I was exhausted. By the time 2pm finally rolled around and I get to my room.... The room is filthy. All the beds still unmade. That's fine and all if they're busy, but don't check me into a room that isn't ready. At least there was AC.
