Good overall. Dorm room was fine. Kitchen well-equipped. Laundry available. Staff friendly & helpful. Lounge large. Showers & toilets OK. Card access to rooms & main entrance. Very central location not far from waterfront. I'd stay here again.🙂

I recently stayed at Nomads Capital Backpackers – Wellington and I felt truly at home. From the moment I walked in, the warm welcome I received, especially from Isabel at reception, made all the difference. She was incredibly kind, attentive, and seemed genuinely invested in making my stay comfortable. The interior is beautiful and thoughtfully designed, with cozy communal areas that feel inviting, a lovely courtyard, and a fully equipped kitchen that feels like a shared living room rather than a hostel. Everything is clean, well maintained, and the vibe is relaxed yet vibrant. Best of all, it’s affordable without compromising on quality or friendliness. Whether you're arriving solo or with friends, looking to explore Wellington on a budget or just want a welcoming place to rest, this is it. I wholeheartedly recommend Nomads Capital to anyone in Wellington, or anywhere in New Zealand really, who’s searching for budget accommodation with a friendly heart, warm smiles, and a truly homey atmosphere. Thank you, especially Isabel, for making this such a memorable stay!

Ordered a deluxe queen bedroom and it didn't even have a fridge, or cups to have water in. The shower had a curtain to keep the water out. I've stayed at nice places, and this place was okay. I would have preferred to spend a little bit more to get a better place someplace else. Nonetheless had a good discount on the rooms because of a membership, and the staff were so lovely and nice. I've stayed here before and it's always done a good job. For the deluxe Queen bedroom they could do better, nonetheless it did a great job and even had show watching apps on the TV!! That was cool. Watched some great movies - the blind side & Shawshank redemption. The location is AMAZING too. Very convenient place to be. Overall it wasn't horrible but I know it could be better, especially considering we had a deluxe room The staff were really helpful and helped upgrade the room and have the same room for the duration of the stay. Did the job, amazing staff members

Very helpful and kind staff, especially the night-time guy in Reception. With the receptionist having to personally open the main door during the night, it feels safe to walk around the shared area at night.

Got 2 nights for $80(USD) and it was sick. No TV and shower was pretty small but it was so cheap I literally don’t care. Also they let us have a late checkout so we got to sleep in, it was the bomb

Not bad, for the price. Great location. Decent help. Just no backpacker vibe at all. It felt...okay, but not more.

Be aware it's a alcohol-free and smoke-free hostel! The room is pretty clean and comfortable, basic squeaky beds. The fridges for the food are definitely too small for all that people, the kitchen looked small and messy but haven't used it. Staff were warm and friendly!

YOUR KITCHEN NEEDS MAINTENANCE! Half of the stoves are not working at all. Other half are broken don’t have anything to start the flame. If this isn’t taken care of this is a hazard. ⚠️ Why ? Cause you have gas stoves that could catch fire if gas is leaking, isn’t properly turned off. Kitchen is too small for this many people. Place was decently clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. But the rooms had squeaky mettle beds, no curtains, no plugs next to the bed. Quiet dark. Nothing to do in the hostel. Kinda plain. But a good location. This place has potential. But it lacks care and investment. I’m not one to leave bad reviews but there’s some work to be done.

Yelp
Great hostel, great staff, and earthquake proof. I was here during the earthquake in November 2016. The staff was very prepared and made sure everything was good. The rooms were great! I love a hostel that provides two pillows. The free pancake breakfast was nice. They give you free food coupons for the bar next door. Food is great. Staff is always at reception which is nice. Would love to stay here again

Yelp
Great location. Small but relatively well-equipped kitchen. Not many amenities to speak of other than a bar/diner on the ground floor and a great location downtown. The desk crew was very friendly and accommodating.

Yelp
Cheap but serviceable. The prices are reasonable and the facilities are adequate. If staying cheaply is your goal, then Nomads is close to everything and affordable. Staff are friendly and the place attracts interesting people. Definitely check it out.
