Very authentic soba. Best I ever had! It’s simple, clean taste, yet super delicious! The ambiance is traditional and very homey. The owner would even teach you how to properly eat soba step by step! You know it’s legit if they only have 2 foods on the menu and that they operate on a limited time only! And oh… the plum wine on ice was amazing too!!!

Highly recommend having the Zaru Soba - fantastic chewy noodles, made by people with love. Doesn’t get better than that. Hits the spot when you’re craving for soba. They even include instructions on how to eat it, which really enriched my experience. Do recommend coming early to avoid the long queues - it’s a small spot with limited tables.

We visited on a hot day in September. We could use their bathroom, fans and umbrellas while queuing. Service was thoughtful and extremely polite. They only do one dish - ざるそば (cold dipping soba) - and they do it perfectly. We cleaned our plates and drank the last drop of dipping sauce with soba water. The local beer and umeshu went well with the food. Absolutely delicious and worth a visit in Matsumoto. ¥1200 for normal sized soba. ¥1400 for large sized soba. They only have three tables. Everyone ate quickly. We had a good time.

Amazing soba the buck wheat noodle sight. Kids loved their soba. If there is long line, try to wait for minutes. They have value to dedicate your waiting time.

I had many soba in Japan and this is definitely one of the best that I have tried! (Their Mugi tea and sobayu also taste differently, very special)

This place doesn’t have variety of soba. But, zaru soba was so good. It has good local beer as well. The staff was so kind.

Yelp
Fantastic soba noodles! Some of the best hand made soba noodles I have ever had. Like some of the other places we visited in Matsumoto, we came here because of the glowing review of the place in Lonely Planet. Upon arriving at a nondescript alleyway, we saw the line for this restaurant which was quite large for its small size (there are only three tables for guests inside). Fortunately, we only had to wait 15 minutes before being allowed inside. The inside, though small, is quite cozy. For food, we ordered normal portions (1100 yen). Although simple (the set only included radishes and soba), the quality of the hand made noodles was fantastic. You can taste the rough texture that comes only from hand made noodles! A bravura performance!
