If you're the hoity-toity, fru-fru type, this isn't the place for you. Go Check out the Fairmont, it's a beautiful hotel.
I digress; This is more of a down to earth, homey, comfortable place. They are very welcoming and absolutely lovely people. My Fiancee and I, are so used to rude people that it was a very nice change to have so many people be so welcoming and just have overall beautiful souls.
We decided on a vacation to Maui very last minute, like one week notice type of thing. We booked the cottage easily online, with a credit card to reserve the place, but take notice that they'll request a check mailed to them at least 7 days in advanced prior to your reservation. I was prepared to mail my check, but realized we may make it to the cottages before the check does, so I emailed them stating said concern. The next day I get a phone call from.... I believe her name was Katherine (I'm sorry, I'm bad with names), anyways, she was very nice and explained that I was right about the check not making it in time and that my options are pay in cash when we get there, pay with a CC, and a possible third option, that I can't remember at the moment. I chose the easy, CC. At the time of the call, I was at work and didn't have the CC I used to book, so I asked if I could call the next morning. Long story short, they were able to take a CC at short notice, and she was very nice the whole time she was helping me. Thanks!
We stayed at cottage #1 during Labor Day week. The view outside our cottage was so awesome! The first morning we were there, I stepped outside and saw a group of people rowing a canoe on this beautiful, glistening water, with the rest of the island as some of the background. We had breakfast outside on the porch. It also had the parking lot conveniently next to us, if you want more nature around you, I'd suggest getting a GARDEN cottage, but for us it was good.
In the bedroom, a full size bed that was too hard for my man, but I slept good. He ended up sleeping on the couch for half of the night, then coming over to sleep on the bed. Also, a big closet, within it an ironing board, iron, beach blanket, extra folding bed, extra pillows/blankets/towels, vacuum. There's a loud, but efficient AC (I actually like the sound of it going to sleep....weird).
The living area was very cute. I noticed the two paintings on one of the walls, were painted by the owner, nice touch! The tv didn't get very good reception, but I really didn't mind, we weren't always there to watch. And a ceiling fan.
The kitchen is stocked with pots, pans, plates, bowls, eating/serving utensils, salt & pepper, and cleaning supplies. A microwave, coffee maker, toaster, stove, fridge, and I believe there was a blender, as well.
The thing about being around so much beautiful nature, are bugs. We got a bunch of ants and little beatle looking bugs that all were dying when I found them. I'm not squeamish about bugs, but if you're not comfortable about bugs you should have a bug-killer buddy (perhaps your partner/spouse), buy bug repellent candle, or just grow a pair... whimp.
Gorgeous garden and well maintained. I recommend taking a stroll through the garden barefoot, the grass is so soft and feels so good underfoot. There are lots of little birds singing around the garden, too. There are also a washer and dryer, with a row of books you can borrow to read while you wait. You don't have to you use the dryer, the cottages are equipped with a clothesline. Ocean air on my clothes? Yes, please!
The cottage also has an outside shower to get the sand and ocean water off of yourself and shoes. Freakin', genius!!
Although there are BBQ pits, we didn't utilize them, but it's nice to have the option. Also, there are hammocks and sun chairs you can lounge on. We were to busy doing things through the day, that we didn't really use them, but the last night we were there, I sat out and reclined the sun chair to watch the stars and the shooting stars. Can't see those in the city too good. I miss them.
