Really loved this place! Great atmosphere and excellent service. Our waitress was super sweet and accommodating. The food and coffee were delicious. We will definitely be back. Check this place out when visiting.

Aside from the exceptional coffee taste, you could feel that the quality and taste of the milk they use is also different from elsewhere! I’m absolutely happy and would go back regularly. They also have the friendliest staff you could ask for.

On my solo trip in Hamburg, I decided to do some cafe hopping and indulge myself in some local food. Loved the ambience of the cafe, dimly lit but cosy. I got the waffle. The presentation was marvellous with a good portion. Not super sweet to the point it was sickly and it was soft. Melts into your mouth. A friend vouched for the hot chocolate in Germany and rightfully so, it was amazing. So rich, thick and divine. Nothing compared to the UK. Service was friendly. It was busy and you do have to wait for some time to get a seat, but not too long. A little on the pricy side for lunch, but it’s worth it.

Google
A nice brunch spot with good service, but definitely not worth the wait in line. The scrambled eggs on toast tasted good, but the portioning was off—with the sesame seeds and parmesan barely present in small sections, minimal sauce, and quarter of an avocado despite paying extra. The coffee was exceptional, so I’d only visit again if there’s no line or for a coffee to go.

Good coffee, super friendly staff and beautiful location in the city centre of Hamburg. The cafe has a lot of places to sit and chill for a while. There are a few pastries to choose from, which are all delicious.

Google
The food was good. The cornbread waffle is an interesting combination that I haven't had before. Great restaurant with a great location on Deischtrasse. The view from a window table like the one we had is unique. There is lots of space in the restaurant as there are not too many tables.

We visited here during our day docked in Hamburg port. There was a wait to be seated around 15 minutes. However, it was worth it. The service was quick and the atmosphere upstairs was really nice and relaxed. The food was great and we had a cinnamon roll and cheesecake as well and these were lovely. We are so glad that we visited !!

Google
Nice place with a lot of outside tables, opens early. Came for breakfast. I think the plates look better than they taste, tea and coffee were great tho.

Yelp
I went here on a rainy day. Coffee was good and waffles were good. Decent service it took a while to get us seated but I guess they were busy. Restaurant is nice inside and everything was good here. I would come again

Yelp
Really amazing coffee shop and cafe. The food was actually insanely good. I had the cornbread waffle with smoked salmon instead of bacon. This was one of the best breakfasts I've ever had. The fresh ginger orange tea was so good as well. My friend loved her avocado toast and coffee. The service wasn't that great but was ok for Germany standards which I know now. The decor was super trendy and cozy. Really popular spot with lots of people but there's a good amount of space. Highly recommend and wish I didn't have to go back to Hamburg to experience this place again.

Yelp
Lovely coffee shop with a great atmosphere and even better coffee. I tried a flat white for the first time and it was fantastic! It was so good I actually wanted to buy the beans but unfortunately ran out of time as they were closing. Great location in the heart of Hamburg perfect for locals and tourists alike. My husband got the latte which was good, but nothing on my flat white. I imagine the cappuccino here would be awesome too!

Yelp
The coffee is outstanding and it's very cool to see the beans being processed and roasted. 5/5 for espresso. As far as food goes, the gluten free waffles were delicious and came with a variety of fruit. They cook the waffles in a separate area so it's celiac safe. Very impressed with this dish. Unfortunately, the poached eggs/avocado toast was borderline not edible. I ended up just eating the eggs with salt and didn't finish the bread or avocado/pea sauce. The gluten free bread is also paleo and is entirely made of seeds and raisins and the sauce tasted like nothing. Perhaps normal bread would have improved the flavor. Overall, to my fellow celiacs and gluten free people, skip the toast and go for waffles, coffee, and friendly service!

Yelp
I knew when I woke up this morning, this was my breakfast destination. The service was excellent and kind. The coffee is an experience, and so is the culinary art. Snowing banks of the river outside, the quaint warm ambience and lighting gives this place a relaxing and pleasant atmosphere. A must-go to any Hamburg visit.

Yelp
This is a fantastic place in Hamburg, especially for breakfast. Not only is the coffee superb, but the breakfast food is terrific. The waffles are amazing! Go early (like at opening) to avoid the line. It is popular, and for good reason.

Yelp
Myself and 2 friends grabbed breakfast at Nord Coffee Roasters one morning after all of us had previously attempted to come here. This is a popular establishment so don't be surprised if you have to wait awhile. They are good about turning tables over though so we only waited for about 10 minutes. We all enjoyed our coffees. My friend and I split a Nutella waffle (okay but wouldn't order again) and a big slice of vegan toast with veggies and vegan cheese on it that was amazing. This place is a haven for vegans (and non vegans alike). We were all pleased with this place and would come back.

Yelp
When I travel to Hamburg I always do my best to get the benefits of my visit, so I often want to hit two birds with one stone: good coffee and good food. Since 2016 in Hamburg's city centre, Nord Coast has been the right place. Hamburg is well-known with a plenitude of well-regarded eateries in the neighbourhoods surrounding the city centre in particular and scattered all over the city in general. Nord Coast was founded in 2015 on Deichstrasse. This café knows the specialty coffee skillfully when preparing each cup, whether you like an espresso, a cappuccino, a flat white or a V60. Watching the coffee process while waiting for your order is quite entertaining. It is clear that the baristas exploding with skills to make quality coffee. With beans from Guatemala, Honduras, and Kenya, the coffee menu holds a variety of tastes. Nord Coast roast the coffee beans on site and also sells packs of coffee beans in store should you wish to bring the flavours home. For breakfast in this cafe, I always order the Vegan waffle without powdered sugar since I'm on a diet. The dish is a hearty portion and the waffle is cooked with the right amount of crisp. For brunch or lunch visit, you may try the scrambled eggs with porcini butter, turmeric chili cream, and parmesan on sourdough bread. This is a tasty dish, but I have to say that the waffle still wins over every thing else to me. When it comes to pop in, Nord Coast is definitely popular in all three locations any day of the week. After 10am, it began to fill up quickly and during lunch time as well, so it might be a good to call and reserve a table before you show up. However, with good food , wonderful coffee an d a remarkable service, a long-line waiting is worth it. Finally, Nord Coast is a non-questionable choice for your breakfast and lunch needs while visiting Hamburg. Located in the city center within 10 minutes walking distance from the Rathaus, Nord Coast is well placed to fuel before you start hopping around city. You might try the other locations at Eppendorfer Weg or the one on Isestrasse.

Yelp
Every dish I've had here is excellent and high quality (they also have gluten free and vegan options). The coffee is really really good and they have a wide variety of brews to choose from. The staff here is incredibly friendly and helpful. I couldn't recommend it more if you're looking for a lovely brunch spot - just prepare to wait in line a little as there seems to always be one (understandably so) :)

Yelp
I went there for breakfast and ordered a cappuccino and Hummus Bowl (Lime hummus, beetroot hummus, edible wildherb salad, beluga lentils, organic pached egg, sesame, pumpkin seeds, sunflowerseed & sourdough bread). The coffee was great and the food was simple and tasty (it was more tasty than I expected). They have outside tables and an upper floor. There are some tables next to the windows with a view over a canal. Nice interior overall. The waitress was nice too. It was a peaceful slow morning in this nice café. I will be back.

Yelp
Probably my favourite cafe in Hamburg. Outstanding coffee, roasted in-house and prepared with skill and love. The food is super tasty and creative. Out back there's a great view over one of the canals and the interior is very stylish. Top recommendation for specialty coffee lovers.

Yelp
My favorite cafe in Hamburg. Great coffee, many different brewing methods and types of filtered coffee. I love how they serve them. I even bought a few of their cups. Very spacious with view of the canal, friendly staff, but the food is hands down the best thing about this place. Everything I ordered is very well presented and tastes delicious!! Pouched eggs with avocado, paninis, açai bowl, waffles, especially the apple-basil compote!! And if you are lucky, you will see their cute french bulldog hanging out in the corner.

Yelp
We had breakfast here, yesterday, and we loved it. Not knowing that it is better to make a reservation, we got lucky after a short wait: They had a table for us! The coffee was the most delicious coffee we ever had and the breakfast absolutely marvelous. I recommend the power bowl! I saw a recommendation here, suggesting that Americans wouldn't be served here, that is b.s.! If tables are empty, that just means someone made a reservation and will be seated there, soon. Our waitress was nice and friendly, the service prompt, we have no complaints. Americans are always very welcome in any German place, since they are known to give great tips. We are from Texas, didn't have any problems, ever!

Yelp
This place has great coffee! The food was fresh and quick and very reasonably priced. The staff were friendly and efficient. Plus, they allow dogs!
google avatar

Yelp
Young, fresh, cozy as well as dynamic place. Very good and friendly service. We had poached eggs with avo, pesto, spinach on bread. Delicious! Waffle, other bread and dishes look perfect as well. Coffee (espresso and cappuccino) were excellent. The home made maracuja lemonade was just refreshing WOW! One star reduction, as we wait for 30 minutes (ok, I didn't know before). Reservation online only and no table free the next two weeks. In general perfect for the business. However not for spontaneous brunch people.

Yelp
I don't come to Germany for the coffee. But I stopped by nord coast after hearing about it from a friend and was pleasantly surprised. They make both light roast and dark roast espresso. I was surprised by this, and inquired with the owner as to why, and he responded that most Germans do not drink anything other than dark roast. Him and I wink at each other and acknowledge that light roast is where all the flavor and complexity is really at. I know German culture takes time to adapt. GERMAN PEOPLE IF YOU'RE READING THIS -- try the light roast it will not harm you. The food is great. My favorite breakfast I've had so far is the poached egg with pesto, pomegranate, and spinach. The waffles are pretty good too, with fruit and whipped cream. If you've tried the espresso, then it's worth trying the coffee. They've got some preparation techniques that are uniquely German (I forget the name but ask one of the folks working there). I tried one and it was really good. Other highlights: the place is on the canal and has a nice view. In addition, they are pretty chill so you might wait for your coffee sometimes. I pestered the staff with a ton of questions and they were nice enough to answer all of them!

Matthew B.

Yelp
After a short wait to get a table, the breakfast was simply sensational. The coffee was good, orange juice was fresh, and the granola was delicious. I then had the avocado and eggs in toast with Pesto - delicious. Would definitely come back here.

Yelp
I should have come sooner, this place is everything I want in a coffeeshop! When I stopped off on a Saturday morning, I got a perfect V60 pour over coffee and some delicious eggs on toast. The atmosphere is warm and inviting inside, plenty of wood, with a nice view of the Hamburg canals. There is a large upstairs area with plenty of seating, if you want to stay for awhile. While they offer several different ways to make your coffee, don't be overwhelmed and talk with the staff about what you like, they are really friendly. They have a variety of beans, so you can definitely try a few combos and taste many different things. They do their roasting and sell their beans too, if you want to take things home. I can tell, I will be coming back here regulary!

Yelp
Really cool vibe (I kind of want to live in here), friendly/attentive service, and excellent drinks and food. The waffles and poached egg with avocado on toast are standouts. To top it all off, the breakfast hours are very generous! My favorite coffee shop in Hamburg

Yelp
We were visiting Hamburg for the day and found this coffee shop / cafe on Yelp. What a find! It reminded me of the fabulous shops in San Francisco. Great hip, minimalist decor. The coffee and food was amazing! I had a latte that was delicious and hit the spot since we were exploring in the rain. Their breakfast menu was small but fabulous. The staff was helpful and spoke English...yay. We ordered 3 different things--waffle with fruit and mascarpone (so good), poached eggs with avocado, and scrambled eggs with a delish cheese spread for toasted bread. Everything was fabulous! Definitely worth a stop!

Freja K.

Yelp
Great coffee and food. The staff was very friendly. The vegan waffles were so good. The best vegan waffles I've had! Actually the place was so good I had to come back again the next day.

Yelp
Sadly, this place is a poor representative of Hamburg and the German people. We came here with our daughter and her boyfriend, who is studying in Hamburg, and they would not serve us. They told they did not have space, which is fine. (Even though it appeared several tables open). When we asked how long of a wait for a table, she said," we don't have any space for you." All four of us, including our daughter's german speaking boyfriend, agreed the message was rude and because we were Americans. Warning- if you are an American visiting Hamburg, don't come here. What I would like to tell the server who was so rude. Please come to Southern California in the USA and enjoy our beautiful beaches. We promise to treat you better than you chose to treat us.

Yelp
I might have found a new favorite coffee place in Hamburg! They seem to roast their own coffee and it actually tastes really good. We had an Americano and a Cappuccino. Both tasted aromatic. Their waffles are famous, so we had to try one with Nutella and were not disappointed! Their cheesecakes are very good as well! I almost liked it more than their waffles. It's a nice place to hang out on a Sunday afternoon with friends and family.

Yelp
What a great spot!! Super atmosphere! Cool people. Great, yummy and sustainable sourced coffee. The waffles were my favorite :)

Yelp
Are you serious about your coffee? Nord Coast will serve it up perfectly for you. Chemex. Yes. Siphon? Yes. Proper coffee, right here. Even some flat whites! My white tea was also exceptional (I was way over caffeinated to enjoy anything extra jolted). My colleague and I enjoyed our beverages with a front seat view of the beautiful canal (back window). Cafe Nord is bright, spacious, roomy, friendly, professional and sleek. It's a great spot should you need a sophisticated fix in beautiful Hamburg. *grab a loyalty card.

Yelp
Amazing coffee and extremely friendly baristas. Pour over coffees are superb and the cafe has amazing views of the canal. What is not to love about this place? On my second visit, I got wild and tried the food. No surprise, it was also incredible! I had the poached egg with spinach and avocado served on a huge loaf of fresh bread, all topped with coriander-basil pesto. Be still my heart! If you are close - come here, if not still come here.
google avatar

Anya C.

Yelp
This is the most beautiful and largest coffee shop I found in Hamburg. Excellent views of the canal. Huge space with plenty of areas to relax. Modern design. And of course....the coffee! Excellent. Third wave. They have Chemex, Aeropress, Syphon etc.... And free wifi.

Ethra I.

Yelp
Awesome vibe, excellent home roasted coffee and super yummy breakfast! Really clean and stylish. The portion size is on the smaller side, so it would be great if they offered large and small portions on their breakfast menu.
google avatar

Janusz M.

Yelp
Great place. Good prices. Cozy and comfortable. Air is filled with scent of coffee and tasty cakes. Perfect spot for a coffee after a meal at Fish & Co.

Kerri-Ann L.

Yelp
The food was outstanding as was the setting and ambiance. However, sadly one member of staff was very rude - we had asked what the people next to us were having and then went onto order two separate dishes. We were then given three dishes and when we said we did not order the waffle, we just asked what it was she was extremely rude - this continued when we paid the bill. This was a tad disappointing after a fabulous brunch.

Yelp
Very friendly staff and great breakfast. It was also fun to learn about the many different brewing methods and to try something new.

Kat S.

Yelp
I went to this coffee shop yesterday super excited after I saw their amazing tools( grinder, aero press, roasting their own beans etc.). I assumed it would be an amazing coffee shop and even brought my sister and boyfriend to show them the great location I found while visiting Hamburg. When we went to order our coffees I learned that they don't carry any non dairy milk which disappointed me a lot. Seeing vegan food options on the menu made me believe they for sure would carry non dairy milk but I was wrong. I passed on my coffee order after making the barrister aware I can't have milk and was offered a chai latte or tea. Button line is...carrying vegan food options but no non dairy milk was pretty disappointing to me.

Yelp
Hamburg is the SF of Europe. The harbor vibes with them dope coffee shops mang!!! Nord coast is one of the more classy joints with food on their menu. It overlooks the water and has a good amount of seating. Their lattes and espressos are on point. The cost wasn't overwhelming and their staff is very friendly. A great place to meet up with people.

Wim L.

Yelp
This place is a trendy hipster coffee and brunch place. The coffee is very good, the food as well. The decor and look of the place is great. I've been there twice now and the issue is the feel. I felt treated by the hostess not like a customer that should be treated friendly and be welcomed but rather like someone who is lucky to even make it into the door. We got there a few minutes before opening time (10 am for a breakfast place -- weird by itself) and stood in line. She let in about a dozen people. When it was our (my daughter and I) turn she assigned us "the couch". Folks that came after us still got tables. We went to the couch which is an old style leather couch with an old suitcase as table. Very uncomfortable. As we sat there uncomfortably, tables got served first. In addition there were at least 4-5 tables unused. So I went back to her and asked why we were sent to "the couch" whereas folks that came right after us got a table. Begrudgingly she said that we could take a table but that they all were reserved, some starting at 11 am, some much later. It was 10:15 am! We didn't plan on spending an hour there so took the table. We noticed several of the other unused tables had "reserved" on them with the time of reservation up to 12:30 pm!! Crazy! Anyway, we had our coffee and food (avocado toast which was tasty) and were out of there by 10:50 am. It's poorly managed in terms of seating, with a super snooty attitude from the hostess. Unwelcoming. A few suggestions: drop the attitude and treat people nicely. Get rid of the couch and add more tables. Get rid of the reservation deal for 2-4 people. Early bird gets the worm, especially in a breakfast place! Reservations should only be used for big groups (6 or more) with plenty of walk-in slots.
