When I travel to Hamburg I always do my best to get the benefits of my visit, so I often want to hit two birds with one stone: good coffee and good food. Since 2016 in Hamburg's city centre, Nord Coast has been the right place.
Hamburg is well-known with a plenitude of well-regarded eateries in the neighbourhoods surrounding the city centre in particular and scattered all over the city in general.
Nord Coast was founded in 2015 on Deichstrasse. This café knows the specialty coffee skillfully when preparing each cup, whether you like an espresso, a cappuccino, a flat white or a V60. Watching the coffee process while waiting for your order is quite entertaining. It is clear that the baristas exploding with skills to make quality coffee. With beans from Guatemala, Honduras, and Kenya, the coffee menu holds a variety of tastes. Nord Coast roast the coffee beans on site and also sells packs of coffee beans in store should you wish to bring the flavours home.
For breakfast in this cafe, I always order the Vegan waffle without powdered sugar since I'm on a diet. The dish is a hearty portion and the waffle is cooked with the right amount of crisp. For brunch or lunch visit, you may try the scrambled eggs with porcini butter, turmeric chili cream, and parmesan on sourdough bread. This is a tasty dish, but I have to say that the waffle still wins over every thing else to me.
When it comes to pop in, Nord Coast is definitely popular in all three locations any day of the week. After 10am, it began to fill up quickly and during lunch time as well, so it might be a good to call and reserve a table before you show up. However, with good food , wonderful coffee an d a remarkable service, a long-line waiting is worth it.
Finally, Nord Coast is a non-questionable choice for your breakfast and lunch needs while visiting Hamburg. Located in the city center within 10 minutes walking distance from the Rathaus, Nord Coast is well placed to fuel before you start hopping around city. You might try the other locations at Eppendorfer Weg or the one on Isestrasse.
