This absolute gem of a guesthouse and it's owner went above and beyond to make our stay absolutely unforgettable. We, a family of 12 (Inc 3 children), all hailing from different parts of the world inc Ireland, England, Vancouver and New York, reserved the whole property for a stay close to my sister's wedding venue in Eramosa and when my sister saw the place, she and her husband loved it so much, they decided to have their pre-wedding drinks in the owners private garden the night before the big day. It was absolutely perfect! The property itself is incredibly appointed with luxurious style. My husband and I stayed in the penthouse, using the bedroom off the side of it for our daughter (6 yrs) which was perfect but we had the benefit of seeing every bedroom and each is as beautiful, spacious, and comfortable as the next. I particularly loved the art on the walls throughout the property and the history of some of the furniture. We had a stormy day during our stay and most of us took full advantage of the amazing jacuzzis in our rooms, so luxurious and relaxing whilst watching the storm outside. Breakfast was another highlight with fresh fruit, fresh baked croissants then cooked to order various breakfast goodies cooked by owner Janet and chef Jenny, be it omelette, pancakes or avocado and bacon on sourdough for our family member with egg allergy. Janet makes the most amazing fresh breakfast muffins too which are simply too good to pass up! The guest house is a 5-10 min walk from down town Guelph which was perfect for our party, some visiting hair salons, others visiting the cathedral and others visiting various delicious eateries, all of which were recommended by the guesthouse owner Janet, in her booking confirmation email, all of which were absolutely fantastic for food. We particularly loved Baker St Station, the Wooly and La Cucina. Janet, was absolutely fantastic as we needed to make a couple of changes (as often the case with family weddings) and she was happy to make recommendations and set up her private garden absolutely beautifully for the pre-wedding drinks where people arrived from all over the world (the wedding couple have lived in quite a few countries). Each and every guest commented upon how beautiful the private garden was, how beautiful the property was and how welcoming Norfolk Guest house was after long journeys from worldwide destinations! We were able to get some take out delivered for the kids to enjoy in the penthouse whilst the grown ups enjoyed drinks and canapes in the garden. The wedding itself was beautiful and again our host was happy to hear all about it over a leisurely breakfast the day after. It really felt like a home from home for our 5 night stay and we will definitely be back to stay again in future now we have some true Guelphites in our family. It was truly fantastic!

This is our 2nd year staying at Norfolk and we're looking forward to our next visit! We stayed in Penthouse and Bombay rooms and they were lovely. Took a star off Rooms because some cleaning equipment/vacuum was left outside the room on the landing which took away from the otherwise amazing ambiance. Jennifer made us two really yummy breakfasts and was very friendly. The breakfast is a high point for us :) The grounds are amazing! and it's nice and close (but not TOO close) to downtown. Thank you! Ray Artedio

If you are looking for a quiet getaway, Norfolk B & B is the place to go. I stayed in the gorgeous Queen Suite. This B & B is so peaceful. Janet and all her staff are welcoming and friendly. The breakfasts and service by Chef Jennifer were outstanding! The breakfasts were delicious. Such a great way to start the day. I enjoyed everything about my stay!

This place is incredible. My favorite bed and breakfast ever. Just gorgeously decorated, amazing breakfasts, best energy, lovely guests. Would come here again and again and again. Loved the in room jacuzzi too! I was in the queen suite.

Lovely experience! Beautiful grounds and tastefully decorated! Perfect for pictures. Very impressed with our Grand view room, over 1000 square feet, with a rap around balcony absolutely gorgeous! Bed was huge and comfortable! Wifi worked great. I would recommend filling the jacuzzi tab well in advance, as is a nice size and it takes a while to fill in. The shower is also for 2. Breakfast was delicately plated and delicious, my husband loved the coffee. Janet the owner made us feel really comfortable! She’s very knowledgeable when it comes to great place to visit in the area! We had a great time, and will be recommending this gem to all our friends.

It's an expensive old fashioned way to stay walking distance from downtown Guelph. This is a traditional b&b with non-traditional Airbnb style no-contact self check in and a door code. They provide free parking on site for small cars. Unfortunately, there is cleaning equipment around the hallways including vacuum. A full mop bucket blocked access to the common fridge on the upper floor. We stayed in the second cheapest option, Pandora. It has a queen foam mattress that is pretty soft -- your feet will be higher than your head. There are 2 armchairs, a table that could be used as a desk, blackout drapes (that don't let in the morning light), a tiny closet with many hangers, and a full bathroom with a jet tub, rainhead shower, handheld shower, black toilet and black sink. Some of the white towels were stained or shredded edges. They provide liquid hand soap and shampoo and conditioner but the actual contents of the pump containers do NOT match the labels, so beware if you have any allergies or sensitivities. (They contain standard cheap soap, shampoo and conditioner). Bring your own robes and slippers.|| We were not able to adjust the heat and it was fairly warm. Free WiFi. Water is softened so there are a couple of dispensers to get good drinking water upstairs and downstairs. They do not provide decaf tea or herbal tea so bring your own. ||Jen cooks breakfast between 8-9:45 am and does a nice job. They provide yogurt, orange juice, watery light brown coffee (not good), zucchini walnut bread (dry and boring) and yogurt fruit granola parfait (good). She also offered us a free cooked breakfast of one egg huevo ranchero on a thick potato latke with tomato basil arugula salad. That was actually very good and much appreciated. ||The owner Jan was around at checkout and charged us for our stay. They do prompt for a tip which is funny because of the self service aspects of the stay. On the bright side the room was $200 including taxes and fees, but other rooms are well over $400. ||It's not for everyone. We would not stay again.

An amazing BnB. Stayed for two nights in the Pandora Suite. It was perfect for our needs with a very comfortable bed and private washroom. The owner Janet was always available and helped her Chef Jennifer with the morning breakfasts. The breakfasts were delicious and really 5 star. We will definitely be back to stay here again on our next trip to visit family in the Guelph area. Thank you again Janet and Jennifer.

Loved my stay at the Norfolk Guest House! Janet, the owner, was so friendly and hospitable; she's done an amazing job of creating a warm, inviting, and zen BnB experience! Everything from the bespoke decor, preserved century home features, soft jazz music, and lovely conversation over a delicious homemade breakfast made for a memorable and comfortable visit. I recommend this place to everyone!

Yelp
~ Lost our Reservation on our Wedding Da y: Glitch They Said... ~ My husband had booked a room for us a month in advance with a $100 deposit for our wedding day as a surprise to me. I found out on the evening of being married, that when he went to drop off our bags that morning, they had lost our reservation. When they finally found it (computer glitch they told him), they said they were full. He suggested that couples who had made a reservation only a week ago (and were not due to arrive to the B&B for a few hours) should be bumped and we should get a room because we reserved a full month ago and it was our wedding day. They proverbially shrugged their shoulders.

Yelp
Booked the Turkish room for Thursday night till Sunday, every thing seemed to be going good. Friday afternoon Janet knocked on the door saying our credit card had been declined, I asked if she could wait for my fiancé to get back with our credit card so we could work it out and was rudely told no and to come to her office. I went down and told her that there was nothing I could do until fiancé got back. When he got back she had locked him out so he had to ring the bell to come back in, he gave her our credit card and she rang it through with no problem because she had written down the wrong information in the first place. We were told that normally you aren't allowed to use your own private jacuzzi tub after midnight because it is so loud but that there was no problem for us to use it at any hour because no one else was staying there. On Saturday there was a knock on the door and we opened it up to find cops telling us we needed to leave because there were noise complaints and allegations of smoking in the room. Completely untrue because I have severe asthma. We packed up our stuff and the officers told us that Janet was going to give us a refund. I paid $500 for our stay and got a refund for $100. Janet was unbelievably rude and we were completely discriminated against because my fiancé is black and I'm white. We were completely blindsided because after the credit card issue was fixed she asked us if we were coming down for breakfast in the morning and all was (we thought) so we went to our room and went to bed. We were woken up several times that night to people talking in the hallway but being understanding didn't make a complaint and were woken up by cops. This is disgusting and I have never been treated like this. I will be suing for the rest of what I paid and sharing this review on every site I can. Also place offers cable and you only get the American CNN channel. Very disappointed and nearly ruined our anniversary

Yelp
A beautiful bed and breakfast guest house close to downtown Guelph. The Bombay room was very nice with a comfortable bed and bathroom as big as the room itself! Only had the chance to be there one night. Wonderful hostess and a great experience!

Yelp
Beautiful but quirky. Booked here and was disappointed however with the flexibility of the dining schedule. Won't be back.
