16 Best Restaurants in Sicily for Mount Etna Sunsets, Local Wine, and Next-Level Street Food | Condé Nast Traveler

"Inside a Noto dining room where olive green velvet banquettes, chandeliers, and industrial chairs somehow cohere in wonderfully Sicilian fashion, this under-the-radar bistrot hums with an elegantly dressed mix of travelers and locals who are very much in the know. Celebrated local artist Sergio Fiorentino counts it as a favorite, and it’s owned and run by Norma Gritti and Salvatore Malandrino, who turned a 2011 Sicilian sabbatical into a permanent life here. Locavore cooking is elevated to delicious heights without veering into punitive six-hour tasting menus or frothy alchemy; instead you get really good food presented beautifully, as if in a stylish, gastronomically adept friend’s dining room. Contemporary riffs on traditional pasta—especially the spanking-fresh seafood options—sit alongside Northern Italian plates like Milanese and risotto, a nod to Norma’s Milanese roots, and the experience runs neatly from a starting glass of bollicine to a finishing frosted glass of tiramisu." - Rosalyn Wikeley

We would gladly give a 10-star review if it was possible as our experience at Norma_Bistrot was amazing. Welcome was warm and friendly. Food was so delicious and prepared with best quality ingredients 🤤. The wine served to pair our meals was delightful and the overall experience was enjoyable! We highly recommend this gem in Noto! 💝 PS. We were so excited about the food that we just enjoyed seeing it and eating it… so, forgot to take pictures (you’ll have to visit to experience this as well 😊)

It was fantastic – casual atmosphere yet high-end. Top-quality food, with staff who were extremely well-trained and service-oriented without ever being intrusive, all with a touch of casual coolness. Every recommendation was spot-on! The owner was present for every guest, personally greeting everyone, stopping by each table once to check if everything was alright, engaging in small talk, and saying goodbye with either a handshake or a hug depending on her connection to the guest. She serves as an example of how it should be – leading the team, engaging with guests, and bringing quality to the table. Rarely have I seen such a wonderful, fascinating, and confident woman with so much style. The food was exquisite, and the short menu was perfectly curated, reflecting true quality. Best experience in Noto – I would absolutely return when I have the chance.

Dining at Norma in Noto was one of those experiences that stay with you long after you’ve left. The restaurant captures everything that makes Sicilian cuisine special — freshness, flavor, and simplicity elevated to perfection. The setting is charming, right in the heart of Noto, with elegant décor and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere that feels both refined and personal. I started with a plate of fresh burrata and cherry tomatoes, followed by their signature Pasta alla Norma — a masterpiece of balance between creamy ricotta, fried eggplant, and rich tomato sauce. Every bite tasted like pure Sicily. The ingredients were incredibly fresh, and the presentation was beautiful without being overdone. The staff were attentive, professional, and genuinely warm, offering great wine recommendations that paired perfectly with the food. I finished with a cannoli and an espresso — the perfect ending to a perfect meal. Norma isn’t just a restaurant; it’s a celebration of Sicilian passion for food and hospitality. If you’re ever in Noto, don’t miss it — it’s the kind of place where you fall in love with Italy all over again.

Excellent food! The fried eggplant parmigiana was fabulous. The Red Tuna was the best we have ever had. And a great bottle of wine to at a beautiful table on the street. The servers were great. We read about the woman owner being warm and friendly, but we didn’t find that to be the case, maybe because we are Americans.

I loved this restaurant. They put extra thought and care into everything they do from the decor to food to service. The flavor profiles were delicious and well balanced, and the food came out piping hot. Food was on the more modern side of things. I loved the extra small appetizer they brought out at the beginning of the meal We don’t speak Italian and they were very attentive and polite to us. Service was prompt and very attentive. Restaurant was gorgeous and warm inside! The prices are little higher than some of the other places in town but it was completely worth it.

We came here for lunch, not long after they opened so I think the staffs were not quite "ready". A lady, whom I assumed was the owner, was the only server for all the tables. After we were seated, it took a while to order our food and for the food to be served but while we were eating, the lady kept checking on our table every 5 minutes so we felt kinda rushed (I think she was trying to bring out the next dishes). The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor tables and the decorations were lovely. However, I don't think the A/C was on while we were there so when more guests entered the restaurant, it felt quite stuffy. All the food we ordered were tasty, especially the tiramisu. We were given 2 arancini on the house and they were the most authentic arancini we have tried.

Fantastic place with delicious food and fun atmosphere. One of the few spots in Noto where you are really taken care of while getting to enjoy outstanding, traditional, and finessed dishes. Big shout-out to the owner Norma who is the loveliest and most welcome host you could wish for.
