Really wanted to like this place, but our brunch experience missed the mark.
The ambiance walking in was great--warm wood paneling and a classic, historic feel that really captures old Minneapolis. Our server was friendly, but when it came time to order, we found out they were out of several key breakfast items, including the biscuits.
We adjusted and ordered the pancakes, the classic breakfast with eggs over medium and rye toast as well as a bialy to try. The server came back around and told us they were also out of the bialys as well. The pancakes were fine--about what you'd expect from a diner--but the classic breakfast came out missing the breakfast potatoes, with scrambled eggs instead of over medium, and white toast instead of rye.
When we brought it up, the server apologized and let us know they were actually out of eggs, rye toast, and breakfast potatoes. To his credit, he comped one of our dishes, which we appreciated. Still, it pointed to some serious management issues.
We really felt for the staff, who clearly were doing their best in a tough situation. Unfortunately, service was slow and overall the experience just didn't justify a return visit.
