If you need to know more about Klippfisk then do the museum guided tour you will learn everything you need to know about this important product. We had a fabulous tour guided by Alf in English and he was just brilliant! Very informative and funny. Yes the building is a little worn but the fact that it's where klippfisk was produced centuries ago makes it more special. This is an important part of the history of Norway. Visit the museum and learn more.

We visited the klippfiskmusuem on 02/08/2023. The first part of the museum was free, although the most was in Norwegian, there was some information in English. When we arrived at the reception, we were met by young and enthousiastic girl & boy. They were very hospitable and suggested that we take the tour that is included in the ticket price. We were doubtful at first, but decided to do it. At the end of the tour, they let us try bacalao, which was very nice as well. Best decision, the girl gave the tour herself and was able to present it in a funny but informative way. Suggest it for everybody. For the girl who gave us the tour (If I remember correctly she was named Maria), thank you so much!

Needs a guide to understand what's going on. The place has been left quite the way it was. Almost all written information is in Norwegian only. But the tour and taster are great

It is very sad to say: But although this place ought to be THE major tourist attraction of Kristiansund featuring the core aspects of its history and identity, the label 'museum' does not fit to this place. It is just a filling of a huge building with anything that could have to do with the Klippfisk. Apprantly, there was nobody to sit down and give it a thought how a foreigner and a tourist can be helped to understand this major theme of this area and Norway.

Says like open on internet but closed. Would be a great museum but ... No information and parking are available.
