A traveler's worst nightmare. This hotel left me standing on the sidewal, in the rain with no room on a Sunday night after flying from San Francisco to Adelaide.
A very careless management blew it for this place. My large government agency booked this place through our corporate travel agency so I could work two weeks in Adelaide. I arrived Sunday about 7:45pm to find no one in the office. After calling the main number, I learned I was supposed to arrange for a key code, if arriving after 5pm. This detail got lost between the bureaucracy of my agency, the travel agency and the hotel. This happens.
What happened next, however, borders on criminal negligence. The hotel had two after-hours emergency numbers posted onit's door. I tried the first. It had been disconnected. I tried the second...more than a dozen times! I could hear it ringing in the building, but there was no one to answer the emergency number!?
Another guest eventually walked by and asked if she could help. She checked her room, but could find no other contact. My work colleague in Sydney did the same. No luck.
While standing outside for an hour, I discovered this property is also direct under the airport flight path. The noise was so loud that I had to pause conversations unt the plane passed.
Tonight I'm sleeping at the Ibis and my travel agency will be looking for new accommodation. I plan to ask our corporate travel agency to remove this property from our list of vendors.
