Clean, friendly staff, great location. It’s a hostel (you’re not going to get the Shangri La!), but it was everything I needed for a night in Port Hardy before getting the ferry to Prince Rupert. I’m in my late 30’s, and was perfectly comfortable here. Bus from Nanaimo drops you right across the street.

Excellent place to catch the ferry from and arrive from. Very friendly and efficient service. Even at 1am in the morning. Easy parking, Were had the queen bedroom, which was large and ensuit, returning has the double room. Which was small, not a problem but worth knowing, bike helmet took space! Shared bathroom was very clean and spacious. Excellent kitchen.

Staff was very accommodating. Facility was quiet and rooms were clean. We'll make it our place to stay on return to Port Hardy in the future. Great view, watch bald eagles right from hostel. Beautiful murals around the hostel. Again staff was great

Stayed in one of the private rooms within the hostel portion. They have what looks to be a very nice/well equipped kitchen/common area, but I arrived too late and had to leave too early to take advantage of any of that. ||||The room itself is very home-like. Clean throughout, comfortable bed, very roomy armoire/closet for my clothes. I felt more like I was visiting one of my friends/relative's house. Both the younger lady that checked me in and the older gent when checking out/leaving were both very friendly and helpful. Next time I find myself travelling through the area, I'll certainly stay here.

Absolutely lovely hostel staff who were very welcoming and helpful, make sure you tell them when you arrive otherwise you might find they are out of the office itself. The hostel itself is not the best, we stayed in a private room that needed a bit of modernisation and love (throughout the whole hostel to be fair). It was clean and relatively quiet. Overall perfect for an overnight stop before the ferry!

My son & I stayed 3 nights in this hostel .I wasn't informed of stairs & had alot of luggage accumulated fr my shopping spree.Grateful ,for my son's help.I was later informed that I could have left heavy boxes in office until I checked out.Not recommended if you can't climb on bunk beds.other than that it was quite & well maintained. I especially liked being able to cook y own meals & clean up my own mess. Cleaners were easy to find.price was within my budget & not to mention the other hotels were not accepting my iD or debit card The one hotel was charging what you asked for for 1 night stay . I am so grateful that staff waited late @ night to check us in & then cleaned up the room we were to stay in for the remainder of our stay.

Rooms were very clean, comfortable, and cozy! Most importantly the owners were outstanding ! My car broke down and I had to stay in Port Hardy a few more days than initially planned unfortunately. However, Anne did a wonderful job of making sure I was taken care of and had a place to stay at their hostel. I strongly recommend staying here if you are ever in Port Hardy !!

It looks like they are in the process of doing needed updates. It was clean and had everything that I needed. The bed was very comfortable with soft sheets. The shower was a good temperature. I world stay again.

Yelp
Highly recommend this hostel. Clean, comfortable, towels and bed sheets provided. But the five star rating is earned by the welcome I received when arriving solo from the ferry into Port Hardy late at night with a stinking cold. I was shivery, sneezy, sleepy and grumpy (so many dwarves) and Anne was extremely kind to me. I had booked into a dorm room but she moved me into a private (partly concerned for her other customers, which I completely understand, but win-win for me!), she opened up their restaurant / cafe, which had been locked for the night, to make me camomile tea. She was so kind, supportive and concerned, and it meant so much as a solo traveler who had been on the road while sneezing for 2 days at that stage, with 2 more to go before the next more-than-one-night stay. The family who got off the ferry with me said they have been staying here for years whenever they came up and down on the ferry and it has always been comfortable and welcoming. This place is an institution that still goes the extra mile for their customers.

Yelp
I would recommend this hostel. Roomie. Clean. Lots of bathrooms. Really nice caretakers. It's not fancy, but it's comfortable and welcoming. Beds are firm and pillows are soft. Close to the water with ocean view. They have ping pong and shuffle board.

Yelp
We stayed at the Hostel in early September at the beginning of our sea kayaking trip out to the islands off the Port Hardy coast. Anne and Rob were very welcoming, as well as their little dog, Luke. The hostel is very clean and quiet, with all your needs met. There is a group kitchen, and in the morning there is (good) coffee, toast, tea all complimentary. They provide towels and bed linens, so it's quite easy to stay here. The common room has ample room for socializing as well as a ping-pong and shuffleboard table. They provide Wi-Fi also! Upon our return they allowed us to rinse gear, take a shower (for a very small fee), and freshen up prior to the long drive ahead of us. We would heartily recommend people stay here.
