North Eastern Hotel - The Northo

Had a fantastic time at this pub on Friday night, especially considering it was Valentine’s Day and the place was buzzing! The staff were absolutely amazing — attentive, friendly, and made us feel right at home. The food was on point, each dish was delicious and well-prepared. I’ll definitely be recommending this spot to anyone looking for a great pub in Benalla. A must-visit!

We were pleasantly surprised by our visit to The Northo!! A staff member so kindly allowed us to grab a table later on in the evening, even though it was really busy (which is a good sign). The service was friendly with a smile from all staff, and the food was AMAZING! I had the slow cooked beef rib and it was falling off the bone. SO delicious. The kids were brought over little activity packs to keep them entertained. We will definitely be coming back here on our next visit.

Warm & welcoming hospitality from Mel, Woodsy, Darryl, Harley & Nanny. Couldn't do enough to accommodate our needs. Delicious meals. Large quantity. Would highly recommend this fabulous little family run business. Support local business. Beautiful little garden out the back. Harley does a good coffee is your a coffee snob like me!

We were staying in Benalla for one night, looking for an early evening meal when The Northo came to our rescue. Strongly recommended by locals we arrived at 16.30 but we're disappointed to hear the kitchen didn't open until 17.30. The other issue was that all tables were booked as it was St Valentines Day. However, the joint owner made us very welcome and said he would give us a table as soon as service started and before the reservation commenced at 19.00hrs. This was a great and friendly service but it was excelled by the fantastic atmosphere in the bar, while a local Folk group practiced their repertoire. We also enjoyed a leisurely schooner of Sheppertons local ale. Everyone was chatty and friendly. We sat for our meal and then really enjoyed the banter of the owners and staff who despite being very busy had time for two Scots folk, a long way from home. The meal, by the way was top notch, a real humdinger in fact. We wished we had known about The Northo when originally booking our accommodation as we would have definitely stayed there overnight. We can't speak highly enough of this place...superb. Thanks folks for making our stay in Benalla memorable.

Great pub! Dropped in for drink - super friendly welcome from staff especially the manager on the bar. Very welcoming hospitable and excellent service. Good drinks. We didn’t stay for Donna’s had another commitment but it looked great!

A fantastic pub! close to the train station and a wonderful, peaceful atmosphere. A perfect place to visit for a drink or a delicious dinner. absolutely friendly and fantastic staff and the family owned vibes help to make it a special place to be, with great music and a welcoming feeling just sitting and enjoying a drink, with accommodation available you'll get to enjoy their beautiful garden too Thank you Northo for a wonderful stay :)

Great service - staff were very helpful and always checked our food was okay. Very welcoming and friendly. The bistro was busy on a Tuesday and our meals were excellent. Well worth a visit!

Had a great lunch with my family here today, service was outstanding! The waiter made us feel so welcomed and took great care of us 😊 wish I caught his name to mention it!
