North Eleuthera Airport

We had a good experience at ELH. It was not terribly busy, though we heard it can be insanely busy during high season and over holidays. They have one check in line per airline and one small TSA line. Once you make it through TSA, you go to an air conditioned container building and wait for your flight. Check in stops 90 minutes before departure and you’re supposed to arrive 2-3 hours before your flight, which seems ridiculous for such a small airport. They just aren’t very efficient. Also, you can not get digital boarding passes through the airline app (at least for Delta). You must get printed boarding passes at the airport. Overall, this airport is the gateway to paradise but it could definitely use some updated processes/facilities.

Worst airport I’ve been to. Agents are very unprofessional and rude. After security, the waiting room has strong odor and dirty chair. They require you to wait inside that room before departure.

Departure out of ELH is less an airport experience and more a psychological exercise. You are told to arrive 2 hours early, but if you do, you will be informed—firmly—that you should have arrived 3 hours early. Time does not exist here. It merely watches you struggle. There is one line. This line is the check-in line. This line is the security line. This line is also your destiny. You will move forward, backward, then sideways, and at no point will anyone explain why. If you look confused, that is on you. The system makes perfect sense to the people who invented it and absolutely no one else. Staff is efficient in the way a drill sergeant is efficient: minimal words, maximum judgment. Boarding passes must be printed, phones are useless, and asking questions feels like admitting weakness. You will make your flight. Eventually. You will not understand how. Godspeed.

Terrible airport, and rude people. I met a lot of wonderful and kind Bahamians on my week long trip to Eleuthera, and apparently the ones in the airport are incapable of acting like a decent human being. My wife and I showed up an hour and a half before my flight and was yelled at for being ‘late’. I’d like to see what they think of Miami airport and how ‘late’ you can be with 20,000 people over in that airport 😂 After that, we got yelled at for not walking fast enough to the ‘lounge’ and a man decided to call me an idiot for not listening (couldn’t hear over the sound of the 3 planes idling), then flash his badge like he was the president or someone important 😂. There was no ac and the bathroom was broken. We then got read a speech by a man that couldn’t speak much English, and they took 25 minutes to call out different boarding times just for us to go stand outside for another 40 minutes. What a joke of an airport, I highly recommend becoming a saint before dealing with these airport security wannabes.

Better than ever but still hot before you get to the passenger waiting area after security (built November 2023). Wonderful! Cool, nice bathrooms, even a snack bar attended 7 days a week, lots of seating.

Experience from a year ago. Back when Silver Airways was still operating, after security we went into a room to wait. I understand that it's a small island, but waiting 5 hours for a plane that you don't know if it will take off or not WITHOUT ANY WATER TO BUY is mind-blowing.

We were warned about being at the airport early and we were. 2 hours. I recommend 1.5 hours minimum. The staff at AA was nice but I confirmed that if you are not there 1 hour before they close it because customs needs all the paperwork. The day we were there a family showed up :45 before their SilverAir flight and they did not let them on. If there weather is nice it’s ok but if it were hot it would not be. No AC. Small terminal (just a room) and little seating outside.

My Sister and I received stellar customer service and hospitality, from Miss Wallace and staff at ELH in early August 2025. I am so pleased. Our flight was missed because of an update not received and they not only accommodated us in a timely manner, they were so kind. Stellar business like that goes a long way and I just want to give a huge thank you to Miss Wallace at North Eleuthera airport. Big big hugs
