Yelp
Gotta represent! But more importantly as a Yelper have to give an honest review. This school definitely deserves 5 stars, and here is why:
#1 Facilities
They used to be slightly outdated but still more than adequate. Now with the construction almost being finished you can see the improvements: updated classrooms, better stadium and athletic facilities, and and improved administration building. (They still need to rebuild the football press box, though. The original 1956 one just doesn't cut it anymore.)
#2 Teaching Staff
A teaching staff that truly cares about the development of their students is what makes a school good or bad, and this place has a grip load of dedicated staff who go out of their way for students. Mind you that if a student isn't willing to put in any effort on his/her part there is only so much an educator can do to motivate them. However, these teachers do their best with all their students. I read in a few reviews that there were a few bad apples, but where isn't there a few when you have a teaching staff of over 75? 99% of these teachers care and do great work, and thats a big reason why this school gets 5/5.
#3 Atmosphere
This school is well known for its diversity. And by that I don't mean just a lack of white people...lol. I mean that this school is amazing because there are over 20 languages spoken fluently by students here! Students from all different ethnic, racial, and religious backgrounds come here and coexist in a manner the rest of the world could take a few lessons from. All of this is displayed and reveled in during the Multicultural festival here where student groups and organizations have ethnic and regional food for sale and celebrate with a huge rally where the dances and customs of each background and place represented is honoured.
North High is a great school to grow up in during your teenage years. You learn valuable educational and curriculum based lessons in the classroom, and you learn life lessons through interacting with staff, teachers, and students who come from every walk of life. As a second generation alumni of North, I hope I can drive a third generation Saxon to school one day and they can call the place home too.
