Yelp
There are plenty of fun events, clubs, and opportunities for academic achievement. The school tests high on standardized tests. However, there is a lack of discipline when it comes to verbal bullying and harassment. Students cannot count on their authorities to protect them. The visual and performing art programs are quite underfunded. The school prioritizes the football program, which brings in the most money and that favouritism goes so far as extra effort being made to keep those athletes in school. They do this by putting them in the art classes for an easy A (where they don't do the work and show no interest, while taking up the spots of students who actually want to take art) And by avoiding giving them expulsion or suspension, even if that means turning a blind eye when they bully their peers. Pretty standard for a high-school, I guess.

Yelp
Of course i give this 5 stars it my Alma Mater lol. Anyways came here for my nephew's 8th grade graduation ceremony. They have made some improvements and are still making more. I can say this was a good school to go to.

Yelp
This review is for KAREN SFILIGOI-BOTT, the Vice-Principal of Special Ed; She knows absolutely nothing about special education. An unknown teacher harassed my daughter and Karen Sfiligoi-Bott went on a rampage and suspended her for 5 days for talking back to this teacher. She should have referred to her IEP, common and necessary practice when working with students with an IEP. Instead she took it upon herself to suspend my daughter. I made a complaint to the State and the school district was found to be out of compliance. The reason I am posting this is she never apologized or acknowledged she was wrong. She is a horrible person and thought she could get away with it because she is pretty.

Yelp
Gotta represent! But more importantly as a Yelper have to give an honest review. This school definitely deserves 5 stars, and here is why: #1 Facilities They used to be slightly outdated but still more than adequate. Now with the construction almost being finished you can see the improvements: updated classrooms, better stadium and athletic facilities, and and improved administration building. (They still need to rebuild the football press box, though. The original 1956 one just doesn't cut it anymore.) #2 Teaching Staff A teaching staff that truly cares about the development of their students is what makes a school good or bad, and this place has a grip load of dedicated staff who go out of their way for students. Mind you that if a student isn't willing to put in any effort on his/her part there is only so much an educator can do to motivate them. However, these teachers do their best with all their students. I read in a few reviews that there were a few bad apples, but where isn't there a few when you have a teaching staff of over 75? 99% of these teachers care and do great work, and thats a big reason why this school gets 5/5. #3 Atmosphere This school is well known for its diversity. And by that I don't mean just a lack of white people...lol. I mean that this school is amazing because there are over 20 languages spoken fluently by students here! Students from all different ethnic, racial, and religious backgrounds come here and coexist in a manner the rest of the world could take a few lessons from. All of this is displayed and reveled in during the Multicultural festival here where student groups and organizations have ethnic and regional food for sale and celebrate with a huge rally where the dances and customs of each background and place represented is honoured. North High is a great school to grow up in during your teenage years. You learn valuable educational and curriculum based lessons in the classroom, and you learn life lessons through interacting with staff, teachers, and students who come from every walk of life. As a second generation alumni of North, I hope I can drive a third generation Saxon to school one day and they can call the place home too.

Yelp
I don't know how any of the alumni's are giving it 5 stars. I remember bathrooms without stalls, lipstick marks all over the mirror, the horrid smell of urin & menstraul blood *Shivers* Not the best HS. I give it a 3. Maybe a 4 now because I saw some upgades since I've graduated (New gates, repainted the school, etc)

Yelp
I would give NHS 3 stars because out of the 4 Torrance HS's it is the smallest and outdated, HOWEVER, this was the only HS I attended and I had some good times. Representing c/o 2000!! I could go down memory lane but it would mean nothing to my fellow Yelpers, so I will just say, BAGEL HASH...the best food concoction ever! I still make it today :) Honorable mentions (from over a decade): Rambo, slushy machine, ceramics, Mr. Costello's booty, Drasner, McCarty, cheese fries...I'm sure I'm missing some but I'm old now :/ My 200th review! :) Woo hoo!

Yelp
I have to give it five stars since I went there...and I didn't really have too much to complain about, although I've heard that it's getting worse there nowadays. bathrooms were a stinker, but what high school's isn't. There were some great teachers that I had there. Memories, dances, tennis, etc. Great lunches though, they had pizza hut, chick fil-a, taco bell...and of course the chili cheese fries from the cafeteria. And bagels at snack time. And I think we were the only school I've seen with a slushie machine...terrible slushies, but it seemed no one could resist that electric blue concoction.

Yelp
Ah high school... such fond memories. And not so fond ones, but who cares. It was high school...

Yelp
This school is wack. Very wack, but I mean it's better than west, if you care about your kid home school them, they'll learn so much more.

Yelp
It's a regular looking high school in a boring city with annoying cliquey ass teens. Can't really expect too much. It's just another high school here in SoCal. Teachers are a hit and miss, Security always check you for drugs and shit(like who and why would you bring that to school? And there's always this one cop here, like wth are you doing here? Don't you have better things to do? Guess not haha), the Dean and Vice Principle are somewhat of an ass but I guess that's his job, Counselors are nice and try to help you to the best of their abilities but they're always busy and it's really had to see them:( and the food here is pretty bad*(loong lunch lines for ehhh food). Met some homeys that are really chill and I know they are going to be in my life past North. But I also met annoying as kids here that I will forever hate as long as I live on Earth. So overall a not too shabby High School experience. Class of '12 baby! *An exception, The Sammy Saxon Sandwich. It's a bagel, you spread some cream cheese on it, throw a hash brown on there with a grip of ketchup(to make up for the really dry and hard hash browns) put it all together and there you have it! A Sammy Saxon Sandwich! Sounds really gross and weird at first but once you take a bite it's the bomb! Promise.

Yelp
Best high school in all of torrance, the teachers are the best in the district. Of course i may have a bias opinion for having attended this school, but it deserves each and every one of the five stars. The faculty is truly exceptional, they helped along each and every step!

Yelp
The woman in the attendance office is very rude and has no patience on the phone.....she needs to retire....she kept interrupting me and hung up on my face.

Yelp
I went to this school for two years and I must say it is one of the most miserable places I have ever had the misfortune of attending. There are many reasons I hope I never have to step foot on North High property again, but to list a few: the french fries in the cafeteria are rubbery the bathrooms tend to be lacking such things as soap, toilet paper, and paper towels the teachers and staff play favorites and no offense, but everything is run by Asians. I have never heard one of classmates ever say "I love North" because in uttering that sentence, one might just burst into flames for such a horrible blatant lie. To sum it up, don't go there :]

Yelp
I come here once in a while to play football with friends. There is so much space here that you could pretty much play anywhere. And I have. But I have to say I really enjoy playing on the actual football field. All the lines are there to mark the yards. The end zones are marked. Its just plain fun. I also come here to run the track. Dont really go anywhere else on this campus. Wish the bleachers looked better. And I hate when I come to play football and their are soccer games going on.

Yelp
Stuck in time. The politics of who likes who, runs the school. Students often come last. It is no longer a comprehensive high school with the courses that have been dropped; With some of the court cases to come out of North, the Board needs some better supervision of the administrators..

Yelp
The best high school I have ever attended.
