North of 60 Aurora Adventures

We had an incredible dog sledding experience with North of 60! Yes, it was -40°C — but honestly, that just made it even more unforgettable. As long as you wear goggles and make sure your face and neck are well covered, you’ll be perfectly comfortable and able to fully enjoy the adventure. The dogs were amazing, the guides were professional, and the entire experience felt authentic and exciting. Our kids absolutely loved it! Their lodge is also uniquely designed and full of character — I won’t spoil it, but it definitely adds something special to the overall experience. Gliding through the snowy northern wilderness behind a team of strong, energetic sled dogs is something you simply cannot miss when visiting the North. Highly recommended!

We had an absolutely incredible experience with North of 60, all thanks to the incredible customer service from Kelly. The Skydome itself was spectacular and incredibly cozy. I actually think I prefer this cozy, warm dome setup much more than riding around in a bus and moving to different locations! The experience was superb, complete with a warm fireplace, endless hot cocoa, and a great selection of snacks (biscuits, cheese, and more). Our guide, Brian, was awesome and ensured everyone was comfortable and well taken care of throughout the night. We can't thank Kelly enough for going the extra mile. We had an amazing time with Kelly and her family of North of 60 Adventures doing the dog sledding tour. My friends came from out of town and we booked this tour online through TripAdvisor. We immediately got a confirmation and all the details of the tour. My friend’s eight year-old granddaughter was so excited for this. They came to pick us up at my friends hotel. The gentleman driver was punctual and extremely polite. The bus was warm and comfortable. We drove 15 minutes to the location. They had a cabin that was very well heated and we were brought inside where Kelly met us and gave us a history of dog sledding and its connection with the Dene culture. It was interesting to learn about the history of dog sledding and what an important mode of transportation it was before snowmobiles were invented. The entire operation is run by Kelly’s family and dog sledding is something that has been in their family for generations. The cabin was cosy, warm and very rustic. We had a meet and greet with the dogs and my friend’s eight-year-old granddaughter was absolutely ecstatic. When our turn came, we sat in the sled and were covered in blankets. We had explained to Kelly that we had done a snowmobile tour the day before and we had been too cold so she looked after us to make sure we didn’t freeze. The dogs ran across the lake and the trails for a total of approximately 25 minutes. It was absolutely exhilarating and exciting. They were so fast! It was unbelievable how these dogs knew exactly where to go. What a thrilling experience! Once the ride was over, we went back to the cabin and we were served some hot tea, hot chocolate, and some delicious traditional Bannock bread and homemade jam made by Kelly herself. Bannock is a traditional first nation’s bread and this recipe was in her family for generations. The whole experience was, fun, very cosy and very inviting. The driver brought my friends back to their hotel and he was kind enough to drop me off right in front of my apartment. All in all, I highly recommend this wonderful tour. This is a local family that are running this . A family of good honest, hard-working people, including Kelly and her son. There’s nothing more that makes me happy but to support our locals, especially when the tour is absolutely phenomenal. Thank you, Kelly and family for this wonderful adventure.

We had an amazing time dog sledding and aurora viewing at there sky dome. Dogs were very playful and fast, and riding in the sled was a dream come true. The sky dome was very cozy with great conversation about yellowknife. We had a great time.

Unforgettable aurora night in a cozy skydome We had an amazing experience with North of 60 Aurora Adventures. From the easy hotel pickup/drop-off to the warm, welcoming vibe the whole night felt smooth and well organized.  The heated sky domes were the perfect base to warm up between viewing sessions, and I loved that guests can move between multiple domes + the outdoor viewing area it didn’t feel crowded or rushed.

Love the snug dome! Doug was a great host. Although the weather didn't cooperate, we enjoyed talking to Doug and learning more about the area. Looking forward to dog mushing today!

Wow! What an incredible experience from start to finish. Kelly, Wynter and everyone involved were so friendly, welcoming and knowledgable and clearly love the dogs and what they're doing. They were happy to answer any questions and share what they know. A family run business where the dogs are clearly well looked after, cared for and loved, and an intimate and fun day for us with just the two of us there that day. The dogs were so excited to run and happy, and we got to pat and cuddle them and the puppies as long as we wanted. Smiles and wagging tails all around. Can't wait to go back. :) Thank you!!!

This was an amazing place to take a snow dog tour. Kelli and staff were wonderful. Tour was individualized. You ride and drive. Would definitely recommend this excursion. Had a nice tent for snacks after excursion.
