9 Best Beach Towns in Texas, According to Locals

"Home to a long, uninterrupted stretch of National Seashore where visitors can enjoy miles of sparsely crowded beach, excellent beachcombing, and abundant fishing opportunities—trout and redfish in the bay and larger species such as red snapper, marlin, and amberjack offshore. Its proximity to regional hubs makes it a convenient day-trip destination, and there are plentiful condo rentals with resort-style amenities for longer stays." - Lydia Mansel Lydia Mansel Lydia Mansel is a writer with more than eight years of experience editing and writing for both brands and online publications—with a particular focus on travel, fashion, and lifestyle. Love this beach! Always clean and nice tourist center. Only downside is no WiFi or phone reception. But we can live with that!

Currently at North padre island and it’s beautiful, lots of stuff to do. The water is pretty chilly as I’m visiting in December the 26th-30th, after a while the water it’s pretty tolerable. Mostly went to Whitecap beach and it seems to have a red flag pretty often, meaning you can only go in to your waist. I have been here a couple of times but never in the winter and there are a few things to note. It seems to be extremely foggy around the coasts with less than a mile of visibility. Also I do not know if this is common but at night there were hundreds quite possibly thousands of the Portuguese Man o’ War siphonophore brought in with the tide and washed up on the beaches so be extremely wary of that and be sure to wear shoes so as to not make yourself a victim of an incredibly painful sting. Stay safe and have fun!

We love this place!!! We go every year and primitive camp on the beach. We bring a generator that we run overnight for the A/C. Nice clear, clean water and the beach is packed so you can pull a camper without worrying about getting stuck. Highly recommend if you like boondocking.

Beautiful views, remote, and really fine sand! The best part is seeing all the stars at night!

During our Corpus Christi tour in 2021, along with South Padre, we thought of exploring North Padre Island too and we decided to visit Whitecap Beach. North Padre Island offers driving on the beach with a $12 parking permit. But an unfortunate thing happened, our front-wheel drive Camry got stuck on the sand. So, my advice is to take any four-wheeler or if you don't have that choice, take your two-wheeler and drive near the water on the wet sand. The beaches on North Padre Island offer all - camping, beach fires, fishing, biking, jogging, surfing, and tranquil walks. Open 24/7 with clean facilities, showers, and dressing rooms, it's perfect for a day of fun. The sunset we enjoyed while strolling on the sugar-white, velvety sand was simply breathtaking! Highly recommend this spot for a memorable beach experience.

My one true favorite place to be other than home! Nothing more beautiful than a day at the beach. Wether a solitary walk at sunrise, a family walk at sunset, or a day of fun in the sun! Beach bum for sure right here...
