North Shore University Hospital

I was transferred here from NSLIJ Valley Stream aka Franklin Hospital on Jan.19th to receive an emergency surgery. Unlike the first location, the team was incredibly responsive, lead with empathy and explained every step of the way. Dr. Jeffrey Richmond who did my surgery is a saint. He legit saved my life. Once out of surgery, I was sent to recover on 7 Tower- with an award winning team of nurses and pcas who were all so sensitive to my condition and did their best to make me feel comfortable and heal with integrity. Special shout-out to my nurses: Emily, Scheno, Gabby Marc ( PCA), Khiki ( vein expert ) and Patrick from PT who didn’t just help me to work on my mobility but gave me pep talks when was becoming emotionally challenged. Unfortunately I have been back twice. The ER waiting time is unforgiving. I checked in after 1:00 PM and did not get a bed until after 1 the next morning. Visiting hours are 24 hrs and valley parking is available. The 24 hrs is tricky as they have “quiet time” starting 9:30 PM but if your roommate has guest until 2:00 AM, then you might not get rest. Meals are decent and well balanced. Typical breakfast: French toast and eggs, juice and fruit. Lunch/ dinner: a chicken or fish and mashed potatoes etc. They even throw in a little Hagan Daaz or icy. Critical care: 8/10 Quality of care: 10/10 Facility: 10/10 Food: 8/10

I delivered my baby on December 9th in 2025. My delivery was an unscheduled C-section and I landed up alone and stayed there alone for the first 1.5hrs but the nurses took care in the triage room with doctor coming and going. Finally after 2 hours I had both my husband and my friend with me. I was partially dilated when arrived and could have delivered naturally too but based upon the on call duty doctor it was best to have C section as there wasn’t sufficient variance in baby’s heart beat. I was taken to OT after 4 hours of arrival and the room was spacious with many people inside. They went over all legal details. I was numb with both epidural and sedation medication, my husband was called in roughly 30 minutes after me going into OT and then in 45 minutes I had a healthy baby delivered and then getting stitched took another 30 minutes or so and I was moved to recovery room where nurses kept on rotating and I was kept warm and once I felt my legs biscuits and juice was offered. I was later moved to a spacious private room with private bathroom for my stay. Over there I could order meals on call three times a day and I could order Halal too. The food options were good from appetizers to main course to dessert. The room had a big sofa and table for my husband to stay and I could order meals for him too. I stayed three nights and the nurses were super helpful and came everytime I called them for anything that I needed be it in middle of the night. I was given very good care. I will say amazing service and friendly staff.

My grandpa was admitted to the hospital for 8 days for heart failure and our experience was superb. The resident doctor Arriel Shirazi took great care of my grandpa, he took time out of his busy schedule to answer our questions and is very patient and sincere treating my grandpa. The staff was super nice and accommodating to our needs, the nurse Elizabeth and Isabella took great of my grandpa. He needs someone to feed him and they provided that with patience and care. He finally discharged today and looking much better than when he went to the ER. This is a great hospital with amazing staff!

Recently had surgery and ended up staying in recovery room overnight. All the nurses were good but RN Matthew Houng was amazing. I didn't have to ask for anything. He made sure I was comfortable. I was so groggy. I didn't realize how much my neck and shoulder hurting from the surgical pillow until he went and got a regular pillow. He cleaned up the toilets before and after I used. Hung a makeshift curtain to block out the lights glaring on my eyes. Got extra warm blankets because I was cold. Everything he did was without my asking. Mr Matthew Houng is a Blessing from above. May God bless him and family with His Richest Blessings always. THANKS

Wow, what can I say?They have my mom and her treatment has been top notch all the staff I have come in contact with have been phenomenal nurses.Doctors, other staff that works throughout the building super friendly and I have had a great experience.And currently am having a great experience with this hospital.My mom is currently there and I am blown away by the courteousness and care of the team. It is impressive how fast and well coordinated. The centers are she was moved from Franklin Square to manhassee, transferred and taken to the appropriate departments for her issues and unbelievable. Just unbelievable, still don't know what's going to be. My final outcome for my mother, but I'm very confident. It's gonna go well. Thank you. North Shore for making my mom feel as good as she possibly can.!

ER is the worst. Spent over 8 hours in the ER and only saw the nurse twice. Asked questions said they would find out the answers and no one came back. Took over 4 hours for Dr to come and give us the results to CT scans which I already knew the results because they were was sent to my phone 3-1/2 hours earlier. Finally after 9-1/2 hours in the ER they said mom was being admitted but they had no beds. Still on the ER going in 11 hours. Ugh! Unbelievable. Will never come back to this hospital.

The service in this hospital is really not very good, specially if you are here over a weekend. The staff talks nicely but you don't see any action. Its too big a hospital, and had to wait 4 hrs to get CT scan done in ER. No personal attention. You really need some Connections or have outside Dr's. Call on your behalf to get any decent attention and service. Avoid this hospital if you can

​I have mixed feelings about this hospital. On one hand, the doctors are highly skilled and provide excellent medical expertise, which I truly appreciate. However, my experience with the nursing staff has been deeply disappointing and distressing. ​My husband is currently in the ICU with impaired cognitive function. When I arrived early in the morning out of concern, the nurses began blaming me, claiming I had interfered with the equipment/patient. It is the hospital’s responsibility to monitor a patient with cognitive issues, especially overnight. Instead of providing professional care and support, they shifted the blame onto a worried family member. ​I felt unsupported and honestly scared about how my husband is being treated when I am not there. The lack of professionalism and the rude attitude of the nursing staff are unacceptable for an ICU setting."

This review is based on the quality of health care my brother received several weeks ago. He was admitted to the emergency room, his life was in danger and required the expertise and care of several specialty units. The doctors, nurses and other medical professionals were really on top of their game. Hospital staff communicated clearly step by step what they observed about his condition to us. Not only did I feel confident about the medical treatments he was receiving, the amenities offered by the hospital more than exceeded my family's expectation. In addition, this hospital is located near the boarder of Queens & Nassau county, making accessible to everyone in the neighboring communities. Kudos to the kitchen staff!!! :). Thank you for helping keep my brother alive.

Multiple horrible experiences here: - partner had appendicitis, first was sent home on antibiotics, pain didn't resolve. Upon return to ED they ran IV Tylenol via gravity for pain, didn't bother to check if it was infusing for a whole hour (it wasn't running - surprise!), RN assigned to patient got snappy with me, nurse manager requested since the RN was sitting around and doing absolutely nothing but giving attitude. - took family member for back pain after car crash, they tested urine and blood, didn't bother to mention that glucose was over 600!! So patient walking around with undiagnosed diabetes for 2 weeks after. MD prescribed muscle relaxants without listening to history of cataract surgery, side effect of retinal detachment!! - brought child there - severely dehydrated due to stomach virus, these people wouldn't do anything without an MD order, took about AN HOUR to get said order. Requested diaper rash cream, had to ask family member to go to pharmacy to get it bc it took the Dr 3 hours to WRITE AN ORDER FOR DIAPER RASH CREAM!! child was crying in pain cause skin was raw. - brought by EMS after a car accident w + airbag deployment *with child*, they triaged just the child and made us wait 2 hours to be seen! I told them if they think we can wait for 2 hours we must be fine and left. This is a "magnet hospital" and all they care about is their reputation. Go to a non-profit city hospital if you have an emergency. You will be seen faster because they know how to prioritize and treat. This place is a joke!

Emergency Room 90 minutes wait to see someone in emergency. Said 130 people waiting. Drove an hour to get here

Just had the lunch prepared for my mother in law at Parker Jewish hospital Absolutely disappointing on multiple levels The food temperature was too hot for an aged person and the sandwich was supposedly Tuna and tasted like chicken salad Absolutely miserable meal Needs major rehab and reevaluation

Don't go to the ER! Don't go to the ER! don't go to the ER! I came here with my husband. After about an hour, visitors were told to wait in their cars or sit outside on a bench. Too many people. Some people complied, some did not. I am freezing outside. We came in an Uber. Never again! Never again! Never again!

The experience was so friendly, natural and never rushed. Belzina Edward - PCA/EMT Fire Dept. Melville comes and takes me to the waiting room. I tell her I need to pee and do they need a sample. She said she'll check. A sample is needed so perfect timing. Belzina helps me get settled in to the main patient area. Here comes Tom Wengenosky - RN "Superman " & Prince Chukwuezi - RN "Nigerian Prince". Both lovely, friendly and very professional fellas. Yep, all the staff look great and well put together. Vanessa Eliahu - PA " Vanessa Williams " arrives letting me know in great detail the next steps and in detail the procedure. She's also very professional, warm and caring. Great personality, informative and funny. She then lets me know about Dr. Sydney Chiu - Anesthesiologist. He shows up a few moments later going over meds and the anesthesia process and what he recommends that best fits me for this procedure. Here comes Dr. Thomas Link. He again goes over the procedure and says if ever I feel something is off, I'm in pain or whatever let him/them know. Nothing but absolute professionalism once again. After talking with him again I can relax. Just nerves I guess. Now I'm off to the operating room. Also a hottie. He had his name all over his vest. I said did your wife have a tailor do that for you so you don't lose it. Now I'm talking about Italian food. Everyone made me feel very very comfortable. I was tired so all I did was look at Dr. Dan Toscano and focus on what he was saying. For this procedure you can't really move, talk too much and must have your eyes closed all the time. I was given a thick eye mask before the procedure started. All done now. I'm gently taken off the bed by Dr. Dan Toscano, Vanessa Eliahu - PA, Tom Wengenosky - RN * Jeff Horrals - LRT Then Ryan Dunn - LRT and Tyler Kerzner - LRT cleaning up and getting things back in order. I told him you're like Karate kid the way to move. **** Recovery room time. Tom Wengenosky - RN to the rescue. My Superman. Yeaahhhhh. Nothing but kind words again. Letting me know he'll get me something to eat. I'm like those sandwiches I saw earlier look delicious. I get introduced to Nurse Patricia Tiu. I'm like are you Filipino. She says yes. Here I go on my food rant about Food Network Shows. Very nice lady. Again very professional. Chris D'Amico. What a friendly guy. AGAIN I'm taking about food for he's Italian. I did mention how amazing everyone is. From entering to leaving the hospital. BTW. This wasn't a hospital sandwich. It was MEATY, DELICIOUS, FRESH & TASTY. I recently been a patient here after giving birth to my child. I stayed in the Katz Women's Hospital part of North Shore University Hospital. The after care in recovery was amazing by the doctors, nurses and staff. I can't say enough how well everyone cared for us. The nurses made sure we had enough supplies for the baby and my recovery and even gave some to bring home with us. The doctors and nurses made sure to check on my incision around the clock to make sure I was healing well after emergency surgery. The in room dining was surprisingly good for hospital food. There was a good variety of selections to choose from. I ordered from the regular menu, but I'm sure the other dietary menus also must have been great. I was in a private room which was very clean, spacious and had its own bathroom with sink, toilet and shower. The staff had constantly restocked and changed out trash. The only minor complaint I would have is the hospital bed itself. It's not that comfortable to sleep on and it gave me some back pain that I ended up sleeping on the bench that was firmer and folds out to a bed.

Was recently diagnosed with covid and found myself feeling super crappy. All of my joints were inflamed, I was getting dizzy with hot/cold flashes, had a fever and my asthma was bothering me quite a bit. This past Thursday, I decided it best that I check into the ER. As soon as I walked in and stated my reason for coming, their staff was on top of things. They immediately put me in an isolated glass room to check my vitals and then moved into a room on the the ER floor within about 15-20 minutes. I was super surprised when my doctor walked in, as he was actually a fellow local Elite! Dr Alan D and his team were all very caring, patient and informative. I felt like I was in great hands and just being there made me calm down a bit. Dr Alan ordered an X-ray, which showed some left lung swelling and explained why my left ribs were hurting. I was relieved when I was given some oral steroids to decrease the inflammation and also a some nebulized albuterol to help with the asthma. I asked about monoclonal antibodies, specifically Sotrovimab.. however they no longer had any left at the hospital. Other than that, I was very pleased with the care I received here and hope I'm fully recovered very soon. Thank you to all the staff!

I had a pretty mixed experience giving birth here. Even though I had a planned appointment, I arrived on the morning of and was apparently not scheduled or in the paperwork for that day. Luckily, they got me back on track pretty quickly. Given the nature of the time we're in right now, their labor and delivery department has been experiencing a huge boom, delivering 30 babies the night before I arrived. Unfortunately, due to the lack of space, I ended up waiting in triage and ultimately starting to go into active labor there, which ended up being about 10 hours in triage. It was pretty tight with just curtains separating me from other beds. There were multiple nurse shift changes while I was there. Some nurses were really kind, but others were pretty gruff and surprisingly not warm. The postpartum care was particularly disappointing. Luckily, this was not my first rodeo, so the information I received and coldness of the nurses didn't bother me much. I was quite surprised, though. Also, my partner and I were really angry when it turns out our child was given a bath even though we had asked her not to be. Apologies couldn't really make the mistake go away, but clearly there was a miscommunication between changing nurses - or nobody cared about our request. Furthermore, another nurse told me how to fill out my postpartum depression survey, which I'm pretty sure defeats the purpose of administering the survey. On the plus side, the food is really good, and there's room and a pull out couch for your partner to stay with you in the postpartum unit.

Loss of words! Speechless! Wow! I didn't even want to leave the hospital! That's how amazing I felt there throughout my lower back fusion surgery I had with Dr. Michael Lefkowitz. 7th flr tower was amazing! One nurse I had to kick out because she wasnt doing her job at all but from the morning of check in to the last day of me checking out I was treating with impeccable service and care. I was in shock with how the food was and the menu having so many items. I loved that there were nurses that actually cares about their job and tended to me with no complaints. The physical therapist, aides and occupational therapist were very helpful as well. There was a PT room with little steps and make believe car which was great for the beginning stages of my recovery. I was recovering there so good! I even got a room change right next door and got the window side which was great for my flowers so I didn't mind being moved at all. The hospital even has 24hrs for visitors! I can't remember my favorite nurses names but I do know the 7pm to 7am crew were my favorite and I was there from a Thursday evening to a Wednesday afternoon. I would definitely recommend my surgeon & this hospital for surgery needs & great care!

Took care of me in past as well as in ER visit on a night when half of New York was there! Kudos. Hospitals suck but the professionalism of doctors and staff is very good.

I wanted to continue as one review..but guess I got cut off.....well on the 6th day...God created man..society guess the hospital got around to actually doing something an endoscopy...yea....I guess when earn enough credits 5 nights of room charges...u get a procedure..I think my next is next Monday after their group think session on thursday..by Friday I wouldn't have enough credits earned...and they surely don't work weekends....now the latest....I've been eatting like a glutton...nothing else to do....drinking like there was no tomorrow...yet now I need fluids via IV..which I'm not really opposed to at zll..although just another charge to insurance..2.00 worth of IV..charge 200.00....but they put it on a machine that is louder than my alarm clock...AND IT GOES OFF EVERY 8 TO 10 MIN...so I suggested ..for naught...turn it while I'm sleeping turn it on in the morning.....nope...can't do that...so sleep deprivation is better...hmmm guess they are not brainsurgeons...oh by the way the only explanation of anything has been with Dr Lee the doctor that conducted the endoscopy..no blood explanations...no catscan explanation....more to follow...when the brief journey to Northshore University continues as an epic folly

We waited in an ER room for 4 hrs. My husband has Covid and after the initial exam no one came in to check his vitals or let us k ow what was going on. When I went to nurses station after waiting for the 4 hrs, I was basically ignored and when someone looked up to answer, they were rude and dismissive. The level of patient care and concern was basically zero. There were maybe two people who truly seemed concerned and helped us.

I came here with I was covid positive in April 2020 when there was no vaccine. I was super scared and my instinct was to drive to North Shore University Hospital to get treated. I am an asthmatic and the covid affected my lungs so badly. I was admitted to 8 MONTI which was a covid isolation unit and everyone treated me with such respect and kindness. The food was pretty good and always different. This is the definitely one of the best hospital near the NYC metropolitan area. I highly recommend this hospital for any emergencies. The staff is great and take great care of everyone!

Waited 4 hours in ER with excruciating pain with kidney stones and they said they take patients based on priority even when I said the pain level was at 10. I can't understand how they are rated so high, they simply don't care how much pain you're in, in fact, they enjoy it and stare at you in pain and do absolutely NOTHING!!!!

Marissa D. DeLuca the Physician Assistant at North Shore University Hospital at Northwell Health is one of the unprofessional assistant there is working there. As a patient that just had a heart transplant procedure done had to undergo dealing with the nasty attitude that she comes to work with on a daily basis no consideration for the patient undergo a heart transplant. she makes it a toxic work environment, not only for the patient but for her staff. I feel as though she needs to be reevaluated from her position as the physician assistant. Peoples livelihood shouldn't be taking for granted because she's unhappy. She makes it that I wouldn't recommend this hospital to another patient But one bad apple shouldn't have to ruin it for the rest of the hospital.

What happened to this place ??? The service was horrible practically no communication. Will not drive out here again better off at Jamica hospital and that's definitely not saying much!!!!!! Security guards aggressive you get the inner city feel on Long Island... just the worst experience ever

Horrible experience! DO NOT GO TO THIS EMERGENCY ROOM!!!! Came here with my 2 children, one of whom is unwell. The first indication that my experience was going to be bad: the nurse that registered me instructed me to have someone pick up my other child. When I informed her that as a single mom, I don't have anyone to leave her with let alone pick her up, she was annoyed at me and rudely said "children shouldn't be brought to the hospital ". The we sat in the waiting area for 3 hours while a PA finally came my sick daughter on her cell phone was just hanging up while the PA just walked away rudely. He didn't give her a chance to put her phone down and made a show of being frustrated. It was stupid, unprofessional and contrary to what you expect from a medical professional. One hour later I decided to leave with my kids take them to LIJ children's hospital and I kindly informed the check in nurse and again this one was rude and couldn't be bothered to take my daughters name off the list. She spitefully sent me to another nurse. I don't think I encountered one kind, compassionate medical professional in this whole experience. My daughter said the experience in this emergency room just made her feel sicker. It's sad because this hospital used to be good. All I could say is stay away!!!

GENUINE CONCERN FOR THE PUBLIC. Please do NOT bring your loved ones here. I understand that you would expect to read bad reviews about hospitals because let's face it, it's were people go when they're I'll and already not feeling well. My experience for emergency care here was shockingly bad. The doctors and RNs here lack in so many ways. Wrong medications were given. Not much is discussed with you even when asked. Allergic reactions were ignored. The specialist doctors were more concerned with teaching their residents and explained more to them than to the patient. The hospital is very dirty and run down.

Er department. Quick to get tests administered if department is not busy, Not quick to get tests read. Too many hands in the cookie jar and the left doesn't talk to the right. Patients are not allowed food or water in ER department. When getting admitted not till after 11 pm and no room just a holding area. This is inhumane treatment.

2022 Covid patient The worst Hospital with below zero communication with the patient and patient's families even when they do not accepting visitors at all. To get the updates you should wait for hours and days . To get contacted by the doctor or even PA or NP you must wait for days as well. It's still unclear why they accepting patients if they are short in personnel. Stay away from this hospital especially if you or your lived ones got covid. They are "super busy" and in rush when you need good care. They are "limited" with medications when you need them desperately. 2023 Heart condition I came to emergency with my heart condition, by ambulance. Was triaged. Still have pain in my chest. Sitting in the hall for 2.5 hours. Complained for my condition and lack of attention- staff in emergency said I can leave if don't want to wait up to 4 hours which is normal as they say. ABSOLUTE DISGRACE AND SHAMEFUL ORGANIZATION NO PATIENT CARE -JUST MONEY MAKING FARM

We took my grandma here because she was having chest pains and she was admitted. The wait was long but RN Crystal in the ER department and James brown in the EVS department took such good care of her. She arrived there in pain and left with smiles. They both deserve raises. They treated us like family!

My dad went in with chest pains and after his basic intake we waited 4+ hours to be seen. He then was put in a bed in the hallway by the nurses station and waited even longer. He told me it was extremely difficult to get nurses help and answers! We were not happy! Then we needed a copy of his angiogram sent over to St Francis and that took a day and they would not send it! I had to go to North Shore and pick it up!!! The woman at the desk didn't even ask me for my name or Id - what if I was mot the person he signed to allow his information released to!!!!

Total nightmare. busy bodies but no one doing anything. All the staff are miserable and gets combative very quickly.

Northwell Health goes above & beyond in medical expertise & compassionate care. Staff members have been professional, courteous & truly caring.

NSUH emergency room rates a zero from a ten based on experiences from the last few years. This opinion is not based on a single visit. This opinion is based on the last three to four visits. Eg: A senior with high blood pressure (188) and tightness in their chest was left unseen for five hours, while someone else walked in much later for a sprain and was seen almost immediately. Meanwhile, the waiting room had fresh blood splattered on the glass divider/separator. We didn't see the blood and leaned against the glass for hours. When we finally noticed it we asked a janitor to clean it. No one came for hours. We finally told a nurse. The waiting room also had hundreds of ants on the floor from fallen food. The latest incident was when someone with a hard hit, and a huge bump on their experiencing dizziness, a severe headache, painful eye movements, and sensitivity to light were left unseen for hours sitting on a chair. Then someone walks in much later with thumb pain and attended to almost immediately, (X-rayed, and given a bed). Their thumb was so painful they were holding their cell phone and texting The head injured person still unseen or acknowledged after five to six hours got frustrated and left the hospital unseen. Hopefully getting an Ct Scan elsewhere.

Brought my 88 year old parent to the ER. Over 7 hour wait in the ER waiting area after being told by doctor that they needed to rule out life threatening condition. I'm talking about sitting outside waiting to get inside to the actual ER. Triage Nurse showed no concern or empathy. This used to be a great hospital/emergency room. Disappointing and disastrous visit 2023.

ZERO stars...MY elderly dad was admitted for a fall last Jan. To make a long story short, someone stole my dads wallet at admitting..mind you the place was under lockdown so it was staff. He was so neglected he developed bed sores. I guess they felt at 101 yrs old his time was limited so why bother taking care of him. Shame of the staff and to the one who stole and old mans wallet..I hope karma gets you!

Dr. Kohil, Urvashi, 3 Cohen, is the worst doctor I have ever had to encounter. Doctors were openly violiting HIPPA by having "ROUNDS" meetings in the center of the unit. This is not a closed off area.I heard them talk about my case from down the hall. She was very nasty, rude, unprofessional, and loved to talk down to me. Northshore should udoubtedly fire her. Also, they denied me my medication the night before discharge although it was in my chart. The behavior from the PAs and Doctors is deplorable and Northshore should be aware of this. Otherwise, I will turn to NYS for patient abuse.

I was called to come immediately to NSUH family emergency. The staff from the check in to the security officers, who expedited me to the front of the line. Grief stricken was my family. We will never forget the thoughtfulness of the staff they, were sensitive and heartfelt. It's sometimes not what you say, but how you said it. Patient got admitted into ICU due to high blood pressure. The team can't find the cause but wanted to discharge him with rehab on balance and strength. I had trouble understanding their treating symptoms rather than etiology, just inquire what might be the cause if we rule out silent stroke. One resident doctor Chang impatiently replied you have been repeating the same thing over and over again. We don't know the cause and there are many cases like yours. Truly appalled at her unprofessional remarks and very disappointed with the experience at the hospital.

Not really sure what happened to this hospital. A long time ago North Shore University Hospital was known to be one of the best around the area! To start, the facility and hospital rooms are amazing! Everything is very clean and I greatly appreciate how aesthetic the hospital is. The only issue I had was with the staff. Although the doctors were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, it only took a couple experiences with the nurses to completely ruin the experience. My grandma who doesn't speak much English was drastically mistreated. When she was alone, the nurses in the ER room sneakily put on a system that was similar to a catheter (she teared up from the pain) which was totally not okay without permission. Also, the nurses would ignore my grandma's questions and calls, and overall seemed pretty rude. The most aggravating thing is that these mistreatments would mostly happen when the family was gone, so I think that's a moral issue that the nurses in the ER room need to work on.

Terrible food. Great staff. I had a c-section and have mixed feelings about this hospital. The staff was great and very helpful from the check-in and security desks to the nurses. My husband wasn't asked to cut the umbilical cord which was disappointing because we wanted to do it. Sometimes it took the nurses a little longer to get more supplies like diapers and pads, but I can chalk that up to them being busy. A couple of the nurses were really great in offering advice like about formula and breastfeeding without being pushy. The room was nice with a private bathroom and shower with fridge and microwave. There is a pullout sofa bed as well and a thermostat. The food SUCKED though. Options were basic and so was how it tasted. Partners are only allowed one meal the whole stay which is ridiculous considering my $52k hospital bill. Other hospitals like Huntington offer food for the partners and they get a steak and lobster dinner on the last night. Not here though sadly. My husband and I ordered takeout from a nearby restaurant called La Coquille, which had amazing food! I highly recommend thia restaurant!

Not happy, not upset either. Indifferent about the whole visit. We recently gave birth at this hospital. I have to say from the doctor to all of the nurses and staff. We were fairly happy. There was only one pediatric doctor that nearly gave us, first time parents, a whole heart attack. Aside from that; you have your own room to birth in and then you have your own room where you can recover in to spend time with your baby. As the mom, you can order meals. As the father or support person, they have to go downstairs or to the cafeteria to get food. If you are a first responder, you can have your parking validated. You do 100% still have to wear a mask and you have to also have a visitor pass. You can have up to three additional visitors but that's it.

Unfortunately, my family and I have been to this hospital far too many times; both as patients and as visitors. In most of our visits, we have received outstanding services from everyone. Their staff (nurses, drs, kitchen, social workers, just everyone) are always attentive, compassionate and accommodating. Their medical care is excellent. I was really impressed that they have a child psychology team in their palliative unit. The child must speak with this team before/during/after the visit; making sure that children understand what is going on without scaring/traumatizing them. They even make a handprint of the patient while the child is there. A priceless keepsake. Excellent service. During covid, strict visitation rules are enforced. Everyone must wear a mask and have their temperature taken at the entrance. Social distancing while on line to enter the hospital is enforced. They are limiting visitors to two visitors per day; one visitor at a time, for a max of two hrs each (although I stayed longer than two hrs each day, and nobody ever kicked me out). Visiting hours are from 12pm to 8pm. Note that the restrictions in their palliative unit are much more flexible, depending on individual patient circumstances. Excellent hospital and my first choice in hospitals in the area.

I got bunion lapiplasty surgery this morning, and I couldn't have asked for a better place to do it at. They require patients to get there 2 hours prior to surgery, but the process was very quick and the nurses/ doctors were so nice. I was a bit nervous, but they all made me feel extremely comfortable. I only had positive interactions, which says a lot because you tend to run into some rude workers at hospitals. My surgery also went super smooth- I barely even remember them putting in the anesthesia because I must've knocked out right away. I also had a good experience waking up. The nurses brought me water right away and had a lot of patience with me since I was still very drowsy. They even offered me tea or coffee right before leaving. My last experience waking up from surgery (at another hospital) was terrible- I just remember all the nurses yelling at me to get up the second I opened my eyes. But this hospital was absolutely wonderful! Everyone here was so kind. I truly could not recommend it enough.

Beyond disappointed with the operations within the Emergency Department. Someone I know had suffered a severe fall. She's elderly and she fell outdoors. The fall was so severe that she was bleeding and she had trouble breathing due to pain in her ribs. Her blood pressure was 180/110 (stage 2 hypertension) while in triage and we waited for HOURS just to see a doctor, more HOURS just to get a CT scan and more HOURS for the results. We were in the ER for over six hours. Imagine if she had punctured something? I know there's people in the ER with severe conditions but.. It shouldn't take that long to see a doctor especially for a senior citizen who just fell and broke her ribs! I would understand the long wait if someone like me had fallen but a senior citizen.. really? Ridiculous...

Absolutely horrible. My wife had a heart transplant so is immunosuppressed and was diagnosed with pneumonia. We have been waiting in the ER for 5 hours. This place should be investigated. Busy inner city hospitals do better.

My sister just spent an awful three weeks The social work department is incompetent namely Ms Beraliz and Sha-they shipped her off prematurely to a rehab with no diagnosis and no treatment plan-they were very eager to free up her bed that they never took her needs into consideration. Towards the end of her stay they relocated her from floor 3 to floor 7 due to floor 3 becoming a COVID floor. Needless to say her personal belongings were never transferred to the 7th floor and were never recovered. It bewilders me that the medical staff were so determined to conduct catscans and MRIs and lumbar punctures -all which they were able to bill her insurance for but never figured out what was causing the problem in the first place. Really Northshore-you need to up your game.

Do not bring your loved ones here! . It looks like no one knows what's going on with the patients!!! No help at all. The nurses that are assigned to the patients are never in the room. Whenever you asked them a question they never know the answer and the doctors are never available to speak with. They also do not give the doctors number to the patients relatives so no one knows what's going on. THEY INSTALLED THE CATHETER incorrectly/ non functioning causing severe when trying to urinate. It has been a week and the issue cannot be resolved . Now it's at the point where the patient is lying in "PISS"on his bed and there is one here to help. I had to help the patient out the bed and remove the sheets because his nurse was no where to be found and she had the worst attitude ever when we questioned why the patient was not attended to. No one comes in to clean the room. Urine and trash are on the floor for days !!! It's not sanitary at all here!!! Please Avoid!!!

This place lacks care, sympathy, respect, and lacks treatment. FILTHY. I have been here many times unfortunately and last few times i feel like a third rate citizen. Wait times are atrocious, i had severe medical issues and sat in a chair in a hallway while someone with trigger finger from texting all day relaxed comfortably in a bed and was seen by a dr. Ants all over the er wait area, blood on the walls, place is a dump. Triage nurse was busy scrolling thru instagram and not paying attention to patients. I ended up leaving after not being seen for 5 hours.

They're releasing my friend today. After 2 trips to the hospital, totaling about 3 weeks time, they figured out what's causing the problem but won't do anything about it. Every specialty he saw punted to a different specialty. No one wants to do anything for him. Their answer was to discharge him and let a rehab center figure it out. Very poor communication. docs kept adjusting his meds and his diet. They never told him what they were doing. He had no idea until I called demanding answers. Even then I only got half answers. Nurses and PCAs were compassionate and caring. Not always so fast to come but their patient loads were very high. Did not meet NYS or federal standards. We took him to North Shore becasue it's supposed to be tops. Very disappointed!

Doctors have superior attitudes. They think they are G-Ds. They do not talk to you they take at you. They do not like people who act as their own advocates. Administration has a anti patient attitude. PAs,RNs and other staff are very nice. If you can stay out of Northwell group.Patient advocate is totally useless. Does nothing.

Sucks! They don't care about the insurance you have They don't care about IN NETWORK doctors! They just want MINEY!;

Me and my girlfriend came into the hospital with second and third degree burns. They had us wait for over an hour without doing anything to help us from feeling like we are being cooked alive!! After a whole hour I couldn't take it anymore and I told them that why are they so horrible why am I in so much pain like I'm burning alive and they not doing anything to ease the pain( and I said I don't want pain meds!! I wanted just anything possible to ease the burn on my skin). They told me if I can't wait I can leave. I left and went to LIJ and within less then 20 minutes people attended us!! What a joke if a hospital you guys should be shut down!

I came with my son who is a dialysis patient, because he felt very bad with fever, headache and low blood pressure, in his condition we cannot take the chance, we arrived at 10:00 pm on 4/11/22 and at 5am the next day no doctor saw him. really . a horrible experience.

The worst Hospital with below zero communication with the patient and patient's families even when they do not accepting visitors at all. To get the updates you should wait for hours and days . To get contacted by the doctor or even PA or NP you must wait for days as well. It's still unclear why they accepting patients if they are short in personnel. Stay away from this hospital especially if you or your lived ones got covid. They are "super busy" and in rush when you need good care. They are "limited" with medications when you need them desperately

Waited on line for 45 min to try and see my sister who just had a baby. They wouldn't let me up because she was in the process of transferring rooms, even though the nurse gave the okay. I wouldn't care THAT much but then I had to wait another 50 minutes on line!!!! They had only 1 person working on a busy night, and this guy had no sympathy for an emotionally charged time. He really should put himself in other people's shoes AND Northwell needs better staffing at security. They took time away from my family and I after I travelled across the country for a wonderful life event. Absolutely absurd.
