This review is for our interaction with the office staffer over payment (and the disagreement is over a small amount). My intention is not to be petty over $5, but to describe what happened, because I think we (the travelers) were in the right.
Using the 2015 Jason's guide for holiday parks, my husband and I picked the North South Holiday Park. It was affordable and very close to Christchurch Airport. We figured we would pay $16.50 per head, since all we needed was a parking (non-powered) spot for our campervan (I'll upload photos of the guide and pricing page).
The guy in the office quoted a nominally higher price- I think it was $19 per head. My husband said, oh, I thought the price was a bit lower in the book. The guy asked him to bring the book. My husband got the Jason's guide from the car and showed him. The guy said it was an error and refused to honor the price.
That's all I have a problem with. We were using the current Jason's; the printed price says $16.50 (which is what I assume would apply to us in a campervan, needing a non-powered space); from what I understand, Jason's is a widely-used reference for travelers (indeed, we got the guide from either Auckland or Christchurch airport's official display of travel brochures). If there is a printing error, maybe post a sign in your office stating that, so customers have a heads up. If we were the first ones to bring it to your attention, consider honoring the printed price listed for your holiday park in the current guide.
It's only $5, but it bothered me that the guy didn't care about giving us the referenced price.
If I've misunderstood the pricing guide, or how much I should have relied on Jason's, please let me know and I'll modify my review.
For the rest of the park- it met our needs and served its purpose. Nice to take a (6-minute) hot shower; good camaraderie in the kitchen as travelers cooked their meals; useful kitchen setup meant cooking a hot meal was easy; we liked how people left their "free stuff" for other people to use and added some instant coffee and a lot of sugar to the pile.
