I stayed here last night. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was lovely and hot! Karen was very friendly, helpful and efficient with my booking, which needed changes due some wild weather in Christchurch that weekend. She even provided very advice for my next stay in the city and a recommendation for a great gin bar! This place is very well set up for families and travellers in caravans and the like. I’d recommend it. Road noise isn’t excessive but I suggest those sensitive bring earplugs and you will be fine.

The park itself is in a great location close to the airport. This suited us as an overnight stop after flying back into Christchurch before tackling the long drive home to southland. Outside office hours key access was easy and straight forward. However I was disappointed to see that I was only able to access the disabled shower during office hours and outside of these times it was locked. Only being allowed to be disabled during office hours completely ludicrous at best. We arrived after the office closed and left before it opened so couldn’t even talk to someone about this. I am a lower leg amputee so using a regular shower simply is not an option. Hence I had to leave without having been able to have a shower. I have never encountered this issue at any other camp site I have stayed at.

This place feels a bit surreal. It is certainly perfect for people coming from the airport or going to the airport, cause its so close. But I just came through Christchurch after a month of travelling and so this place is just so different to other holiday parks. People leave early or come late (as you would expect); some parts of the park seem under construction and water sprinklers are there so some of the non powered sites were not usable; there was a pickup truck with a man just sitting there the whole day, obviously working there but he was on the phone the whole day so I don't know why, I just found it hilarious 😂; in the tent sites was someone who obviously was working nightshifts so he slept in the day and was a bit pissed when people where talking 😅 Don't get me wrong, this campsite is cheap, clean, has everything you need - but at least at this time of the year there is no holiday feeling - still great value in my opinion.

Stayed here for 4 months with my 2 dogs. Powered site was perfect - gravelled and level. Facilities were clean and excellent - always had a hot shower. Owners and the team very very friendly and made me welcome. When there was an issue with toilets, the team got onto it immediately and had it resolved quickly. The camps location was perfect for me - close to airport, is an easy 20 minute drive to CBD and very close to Roto Kohatu Reserve for dog walking. And unlike some other camp grounds they are very reasonably priced. Thank you team for the great place to stay during my extended stay in Christchurch. I’ll definitely be staying here again next time I’m in Christchurch.

This is a great last stopover for anyone who want to return their campervan back to the centres near the airport, as it’s only 6 minutes drive to the centres. And there’s a big petrol station just in front of the park to refuel your petrol, another 2.4km drive to Caltex to refill your LPG tank as well. As for Amenities like toilets, kitchen are decent.

We had a great stay here recently. We arrived a night earlier than planned and got in quite late but it was no issue, we were able to call the intercom afterhours and secure a booking for that night at late notice for which we were very grateful. The hosts were so friendly and the facilities were good.

This is not a Top 10 Holiday Park! Don’t be fooled by the name. It should be called “Last Resort”. We paid for 2 nights thinking it was part of the Top 10 Holiday Park system. After quickly realizing that it was not based on the number of long-term residents living in their vehicles, we did not spend a night and choose to lose our full payment instead.

This review is for our interaction with the office staffer over payment (and the disagreement is over a small amount). My intention is not to be petty over $5, but to describe what happened, because I think we (the travelers) were in the right. Using the 2015 Jason's guide for holiday parks, my husband and I picked the North South Holiday Park. It was affordable and very close to Christchurch Airport. We figured we would pay $16.50 per head, since all we needed was a parking (non-powered) spot for our campervan (I'll upload photos of the guide and pricing page). The guy in the office quoted a nominally higher price- I think it was $19 per head. My husband said, oh, I thought the price was a bit lower in the book. The guy asked him to bring the book. My husband got the Jason's guide from the car and showed him. The guy said it was an error and refused to honor the price. That's all I have a problem with. We were using the current Jason's; the printed price says $16.50 (which is what I assume would apply to us in a campervan, needing a non-powered space); from what I understand, Jason's is a widely-used reference for travelers (indeed, we got the guide from either Auckland or Christchurch airport's official display of travel brochures). If there is a printing error, maybe post a sign in your office stating that, so customers have a heads up. If we were the first ones to bring it to your attention, consider honoring the printed price listed for your holiday park in the current guide. It's only $5, but it bothered me that the guy didn't care about giving us the referenced price. If I've misunderstood the pricing guide, or how much I should have relied on Jason's, please let me know and I'll modify my review. For the rest of the park- it met our needs and served its purpose. Nice to take a (6-minute) hot shower; good camaraderie in the kitchen as travelers cooked their meals; useful kitchen setup meant cooking a hot meal was easy; we liked how people left their "free stuff" for other people to use and added some instant coffee and a lot of sugar to the pile.
