Been here many times now and is my favourite café in Manchester. Highly recommend the passion fruit and almond cake in the pictures!

Google
A fantastic place on the edge of the Northern Quarter, provided you can endure hipsters of all varieties. If rolled up trousers and beanie hats aren't your scene, I'd suggest looking elsewhere. The food here is great, in particular the breakfast muffin which is reasonably priced for a coffee shop in town. Everything is prepared in front of you, and it's all super clean. There's a nice selection of cakes available too. The coffee's are a coffee-nerd's dream. They've loads on offer, and a long list of fancy teas that would shock even a veteran drinker. There's free WiFi, with good connection, and plug sockets all around, which makes it brilliant for studying (or avoiding university altogether...). The staff are ace and THEY ALLOW DOGS. Need I go on?

Google
I can't rate the tea (despite the excellent selection), however it us very rare to get a decent piccolo coffee. Usually its over extracted and sour, i took a punt and it was excellent. So nice I had it twice! Tried the cold brew too, more than decent!

Google
A little hidden gem in the Northern Quarter, seating inside and out is available. I had some peppermint tea which was great, I went back in for more and the guy did a free re-fill which was very nice of him. Would 5/5 recommend this place!

North Tea Power is a very comfy cafe where they offer great sandwiches and coffee from different specialty coffee roasteries from the UK.

I came in with my puppy after a long day in the sun, and not only were we allowed in, but one of the barriatas brought Rouge (my puppy) a little saucer of water and a treat, and closed the door so the little guy could go off his leash. On top of the amazing hospitality, the drinks I had were fantastic and the atmosphere was chilled and pleasant.

Yelp
On Saturday, I met some friends here prior to meeting other friends for early dinner at Evuna. It's in a really handy location as a pre-dinner place to meet for any of the places around Thomas Street. It's been at least two years since I have been here. I used to come when it first opened with a friend who has since moved away from Manchester and I'm not sure why it has taken me so long to come back. One time when we were here, my friend explained some complicated astrophysics using tea cups, so it's a place of education as well as tea/cake. I always used to get one of the green teas but since I'd already had a vat load of green tea earlier in the day, decided on the redbush. It was excellent, about as good as redbush gets. To accompany the tea, I had a chocolate cheesecake, which was absolutely delicious. They have lemon water and plain tap water on the side, which they keep topped up, which is nice. There's a range of condiments, including nutella, so that's an automatic plus point for me. There's a really nice chilled out vibe and is the sort of place you can meet mates, go on a date (when I first started internet dating 3 years ago, I met my first internet date here), sit and read a paper on your own, do some work (I noticed power points)....basically anything. Some coffee shops, including some indie ones, don't make you feel quite so comfortable on your own. I need to remember to come back here more often.

Yelp
Tucked a bit away, it's a small coffee shop with lovely character. We decided to have food here. I ordered the grilled cheese and there was a mixture of vegetables cooked in. It was a surprisingly filling sandwich. I couldn't finish it from feeling so full. My skinny mocha was good. I don't know that I can judge much other than to say it was a good coffee drink. Staff is friendly. Plenty of seating including open tables. I wish I had tried a baked good cuz they looked amazing, but just didn't have the room.

Paul B.

Yelp
Don't get me wrong, I like coffee. Love it, in fact. But I was born and raised on tea and drink gallons of the stuff. That's why I love North Tea Power - it applies the same care and dedication to tea that we've been seeing applies to coffee for many years. The unit is fairly small, but they've packed a lot of seating in, plus there's extra outside. It can get a bit hot in here on a warm day or when it's very busy but it's worth it for the variety of teas they have on offer. Whether it's a familiar blend like Darjeeling or something more unusual like Pu-erh they've got you covered here. They also do coffee, plus some really nice cakes and sandwiches. And like all coffee houses, there's an obligatory loyalty card.

Hannah M.

Yelp
I've been here a handful of times, with others, and on my own. I like a fancy tea shop with poncey cakes and dainty china, but this is the Northern quarter. I'd rather be in here than a behemoth chain, as it's quite a good place for little design business meetings. Brunch is quite nice, plus I'm a fan of almost anywhere where I can get pastrami. I'm a tea drinker, not coffee, but they do a good range of both. Banana flapjack is a simple but tasty favourite. And I had the wine poached chicken once too, which was rather good, also.

Yelp
A new strange judging point for coffee shops in my Yelp reviewing head is workability, i.e. how easy is it to get work done in these 4 walls. North Tea Power scores well in this area! I popped in before an event the other day and had a mountain of admin work to get through and not a lot of time. I spent just over an hour in here and managed to get a lot of stuff done which made me feel at ease later on in the evening! They have a range of different coffees available; your standard stuff like Flat Whites, Americano's etc but also V60, Aeropress and Pourover options! I'm slowly starting to get more knowledgable about my coffee and what I'm tasting so I always like to mix up what I'm getting to test my palete. I had an Americano to start and then opted for a Columbian medium roast via the V60 - really nice and easy to drink! The guy next to me had a sandwich that smelt delicious and the selection of cakes and bakery treats was incredibly tempting - however on my 2 visits I've not tried the food. A great spot to take a load of, enjoy a quality brew or work away in a little bit of peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle.

Jessica C.

Yelp
We sat outside today braving the wind but we did manage to capture a glimpse of rare sunshine underneath the canopy which is quite nice. It was a good place to chill and catch up. The breakfast tea (£2.20) & jasmine pearls (£4.00) was nice and strong, and the milk was served in a miniature milk bottle! Good place to take guests that are visiting Manchester for the first time, better than going to a coffee chain shop.

Yelp
Recommended to me by Calvin T. I've been looking to try North Tea Power for a few weeks and got the chance to swing by for a quick lunch on Sunday. NTP is located within the Smithfield Buildings on Tib St, next to Wood Wine and Deli and Superstore and is really easy to find. The inside is small but homely and was pretty busy. There is an outside patio area with tables too so I would say plenty of room for all their happy customers. Instantly I was made to feel welcome by the guys who run the place - really friendly people. Their tea and coffee menu is extensive, so there's plenty to choose from! Food less so, but they do homemade soups and toasted sandwiches - some breakfast items too! I ordered a pot of tea and their 'Ruben' toasted sandwich and sat outside, in what has been the mildest winter ever! I'd definitely go back here again - it seems like a hip hang-out.

Emma Louise M.

Yelp
It's official. If you have a sweet tooth, the Northern Quarter is your sugar mecca. Had I mentioned the cakes here? HAD I?!? NTP do a great line in morsels of a naughty variety, and last time my mumkins dearest and I were here we indulged in a couple of treats. Both were shortbready and biscuity as opposed to the usual cakey type things we get when we're sharing, and while I can attest thanks to my quick-witted and impressively tall Austrian colleague Andreas R, Vienna Community Manager, Viennese Whirls as we're used to over here have naff all to do with the place they're supposed to reflect. No such biscuits exist in Vienna. Boy, are we glad they do here though. NTP's chocolate dipped whirl was a delight, with the biscuit melting in the mouth. Their cute little cream and strawberry jam sandwich made with a similar dough and topped with a glacier cherry was just as yummers. I'm a sucker for the novelty of having tea leaves served up in a cafetiere, and now I know that I've an extra place to go when I need a sugary pick-me-up this side of town. Stop it, will you. All of you. You good treat makers. Before long my clothes won't fit.

Jonny Q.

Yelp
The only thing I can say about NTP is that it's simply the best place for coffee in all of Manchester. Wayne and Jane are always friendly, they have great tunes playing and everything from the teas to the coffees are always of the finest quality at reasonable prices. If the weather is hot they'll more than happily take extra tables outside for you. If you're looking for coffee in Manchester then get to North Tea Power now! Mine's a flat white please :-)

Tom I.

Yelp
Ok so my last check-in sounded harsh RE price. So I thought I'd share this picture to assure you of how good it was though. Beat coffee in NQ? I think so.

Yelp
So i've decided to set myself a mission to find the perfect cup of green tea in Manchester and headed here first as the reviews seemed very positive and I had walked past it umpteen times before as its location is in the heart of the Northern Quarter on Tib St. Its small, comfortable and with very friendly staff. There isn't a proper menu at present, but as they apologised and promised one is coming soon, i shall forgive them, I shall be returning, so will get the chance to peruse at a later date. They had a small selection of sandwiches and cakes and I ordered a honey roast ham with brie and rocket. O.M.G. i wasn't expecting much from my ham butty, I was here to sample the tea remember, but it literally was mouthwatering. But now to the tea, I ordered the Green Jasmine Phoenix Pearl tea, it came in a little coffee plunger and I was advised to wait between 3-5 minutes before drinking and being a good girl, I did what I was told, and it was delicious, subtle and not too perfumey as some jasmine teas can be. Free wifi, a place to store your bike, small tables where you can huddle up with a book and a brew and even a large table down the middle where a bunch of you could spread out with tea, cake and laptops and even outdoor seating for people watching a plenty! I like this place . . . I like it a lot

Jules M.

Yelp
Nice wee tea and coffee shop a short stroll from our hotel (Premier Inn Picadilly). The staff were lovely and the coffee was every bit as good as I expected it to be. There were freshly baked cakes, fresh fruit and filled croissants at the counter, but I opted for the avocado and sage on toast which came already seasoned with a little too much ground black pepper for my taste. My fellow diners had things with eggs, sort of scrambled as they didn't have the facilities to cook them in any other way. All good! There's a counter towards the rear with sauces and jugs of tap water to help yourself. Worth a try if you're looking for a very laid-back chilled-out vibe with your cuppa! Free wifi.

Calvin T.

Yelp
A place to go if you wanna have a good cuppa/coffee where there is WiFi. There isn't much choice in terms of food but I don't think that is their specialty. The atmosphere is quite lovely and rustic. There are newspapers for those who still read it in hard copies. Its a nice place to chill with your mates outside the tea shop when its sunny. The staff is very friendly and makes you feel welcome as soon as you step foot into the cafe. Artisanal coffees are available for those who really like their coffees. You have the option of a brewing method of V60 and Aeropresso depending on what you fancy. The coffees are swapped every 2-3 weeks, so you are guaranteed a new coffee if you popped in on a weekly basis.

Rosanna B.

Yelp
Best cappuccino in Manchester! Fruit tea looked great. Would hate to know the calorie count - but the sandwich was yummy...Roast ham, Swiss cheese, honey mustard, beaten egg and maple syrup drizzled on the French toast. Hipster joint in Northern Quarter - expect vintage style bicycles!

Emily B.

Yelp
So why did it take me a year of living in Manchester to get to North Tea Power? I have no clue. I met friends for coffee here one Sunday and it was a perfect choice. I had the cold brew, which was served in a beer-type bottle. My Reuben sandwich was massive, cheesy and delicious, while my friend's frittata looked virtuous and full of good things. There is a huge selection of tea which my friend took advantage of. After my sandwich I satisfied my sweet tooth with a Florentine. Prices overall were quite high but not staggering, and everything was good. I will certainly be back.

Emily C.

Yelp
Sat outside this hipster little joint one sunny afternoon in Manchester. I was only there for an hour, and didn't get any food (though it looked delish!) but fancied something refreshing for the day that was in it. The guys made me up an elderflower iced tea, which was genuinely one of the nicest non-alcoholic drinks I've ever had! So full of flavour and perfectly refreshing. It's a strange colour - not sure what else is mixed in with it, but I'd definitely recommend giving it a whirl! Another point is that internet is really spot on here - very fast, and they don't seem to mind people sitting around nursing drinks on their laptop. Great stuff.

Floriana A.

Yelp
I have been a couple of times to this tea shop; it is not very big and the decor is minimal, so don't expect an elegant and posh tea room. It is in line with the Northern Quarter style indeed. Here I tried a very delicate Japanese tea and a coconut tea, both marvellous! They also have quite a big variety of homemade cakes, I would recommend their fruit slice. Why only three stars? I always find it slightly annoying that there is not a proper tea menu, the selection of tea is written a blackboard behind the counter. I don't like standing there trying to quickly make the best choice, while people are queuing behind me. The service could be improved as well: for lack of a tea menu it was once necessary to take turns to order teas at the counter, whereas on another occasion a friend had to wait ridiculously long for a cappuccino, despite the place being almost empty. Anyway, the place is very pleasant, there is also outside seating, and teas and cakes are definitely high quality.

Katrina M.

Yelp
Don't come here if you want warm service. I've been here a handful of times and the coffee is rlly nice and the food generally is as well. However this one occasion, I've ordered porridge after having it before and it being really nice! The porridge didn't look anything like it had previously and just wasn't cooked properly and was super salty. This wasn't an issue necessarily if the issue could be resolved nicely, and I went to the counter to explain my gripe super politely. The man, about 5'6 with glasses and tattoos rudely snatched it off me, snapping "you don't want it then?" and went on to say well he's out of oat milk and the issue might be just be a different brand of oat milk. Insinuating I was being difficult - when like I know what porridge should taste like and something was very off here. I've literally never written a bad review before, nor asked to replace a dish but I felt it necessary on this occasion because of how uncomfortable this situation made me feel. Like sorry if you're having a bad day, but don't take it out on your customers!

Rachael O.

Yelp
I should update this review to be more then me going 'Coffee nom mom nom' but I do warn you - it will sill be coffee centric. So NPT is my fav cafe for a brew as it brings in some fantastic rosters and brews the coffee while it as fresh as they can get it. As well as the normal espresso based drinks (cappuccino, latta et) it also just aeropress and pour over with a couple of different blends to pick from. They also have a messive list of tea to lust after, I found of a sweet cherry one myself. Also, cakes! They have amazing cakes but I will warn you that they can go quick if your the tape of person to go on later in the day. The coffee shop itself is pretty tipical NQ, laid back vib with more people with there Macs out working then I can keep track of! They keep rotating the artwork in there so there is always something on the wall to look at. So NTP, yes I am a fangirl.

Paula D.

Yelp
We always like to try and find a different coffee shop whenever we are in the city. Todays find was this place and it did not disappoint. I had a tea mocha which was really nice along with a pastry which was packed with flavour, however my fiance was in total bread heaven with his toast and flat white . Great decor and ambiance and we will definitely return.

Winnie H.

Yelp
North Tea Power is just so lovely. I went to NTP once for the full English breakfast, which they don't have. We have to leave and come back another time for the coffee after a lunch. There is plenty of roast selection and some fine coffee choices available. The tea selection is pretty amazing too. We opted for Kenya Gichathaini Peaberry Washed black coffee and a latte. I don't usually like the acid flavour in the coffee much but this Kenya Gichathaini Peaberry is actually really nice. It's refreshing and light with the perfect level of aroma. I like the atmosphere in NTP as well. The seating layout is not fancy but provide a relaxing and creative feeling. We were there for the coffee and chat. But I do feel it could be great place to work and read.

Chris T.

Yelp
I read the great reviews on Yelp before heading here, I wasn't that hungry at the time so was only heading there for a coffee, when i got there i kinda liked the outdoor terrace but it wasn't that warm to sit outside, I loved the decor of the place, very northern quarter type and loved the huge table to sit around and the ample seating around it, i decided to order a latte at £2.60 a reasonable price and very tasty, a bit luke warm for my liking and the regular size wasn't that big, would have expected the mugs to be a little bigger, but it tasted ok. the girl who bought it over didn't seem over friendly though and neither did the guy i ordered the coffee from, i wasn't asked i i wanted any muffins or cakes and didn't really see any on offer. It does seem to be a cool place to be though with most customers looking very trendy and most of them on there MacBooks. I wasn't a huge fan of the place but its a cool place to go so might go and give it another try sometime but theres loads more new coffee shops opening all over the NQ all the time so I'm not sure if ill be back in a hurry but if you want a quick coffee when youre heading somewhere, then this might be the place to go! They also do free wifi with a password needed.

Shannen T.

Yelp
On friday, I decided to treat myself to some lunch and after scouting some cafes in the northern quarter, settled on North Tea Power. First, I went for a mocha and after glancing through their selection of toasted sandwiches; I choose the pastrami, emmental cheese and gherkin toastie. I actually went out of my confort zone here. My order came within a short amount of time. My mocha tasted pretty good, nice and chocolatey with a pleasent bitterness from the coffee. My toastie was delicious. The pastrami was nicely spiced, there was a good amount of cheese and dispite the fact that I don't eat gherkins, I found them mildly pleasent on the toastie. The price, was a tiny bit more than I would spent on similiar items in different places. £5.50 for the toasted sandwich and £3 for what I would say is a smallish cup of mocha. Still, regardless of the price, I was still impressed with what I got. I will definitely come back to try their cakes.

Gayle P.

Yelp
I really like this café. The atmosphere is lovely and relaxed, the service friendly and the food top notch. North Tea Power is tucked away in the Northern Quarter and its décor is mainly wooden tables and mis-matched furniture giving it a rustic look. It's a good place to go to meet friends for a chat over a coffee or if you're working and want somewhere nice to base yourself as they have free Wi-Fi. I ordered the avocado and halloumi on toast which was delicious. There was a hint of chilli in the avocado and the bread was of a really high quality. Think I'm going to be a regular here.

Xiaofei G.

Yelp
Probably one of the best coffee in Manchester? Friend recommended this little cafe. They roast coffee beans themselves, and there are several choices for bakery and desserts. A good place for talking.

Qype User (cakeea…)

Yelp
I'm not a regular in the Northern Quarter but always hunt out any new independent coffee shops that remind me of London... I know after 10 years living in Manchester I should accept that I am here to stay... I first went to NTP three of four weeks ago. Coffee was good, made with care and skill and had a subtle different taste when compared with the high street norm. Space is wooden floors, huge lamps and a great 10 seat table in the middle of the room to share... excellent idea. I also had a chocolate croisssant that was... well a little average... which was a shame... I managed to get back to NTP last week for coffee and banana flapjack... coffee good... flapjack excellent. There is a nice buzz about the place with plenty of creatives and media types talking loudly about their latest projects but not so much that you couldn't have a quiet drink on your own. Not been back for lunch yet, menu looks simple but based on the flapjack should be good - will let you know.

Jessica R.

Yelp
Sat outside on this gloomy but clammy day, but from what I saw of the inside whilst ordering they definitely had a great range of teas, lovely looking food, and amazing cakes (need to come back to try the banana Nutella flapjack)! It had a tad of the ole Northern Quarter pretentiousness about it, but they did a cracking cuppa (you'd be surprised how many places can get a simple breakfast tea wrong), so I can't fault them. My boyfriend had egg on toast and gave it a 4.5/5 - "it's about as much as you can do with egg on toast".

Colleen C.

Yelp
These guys are so nice! Totally 5 stars, all the caffeinated way... I made a quick coffee run for our group and they hardly batted an eyelash as I rattled off 6 drink orders -- all to take away. They accommodated very nicely, equipped me with a crate to carry them in and I was well on my way back to the "office" with flat whites, various soya beverages, teas and a chai latte for good measure. Nicely done -- cozy, warm vibes all around. Would definitely stop back next time I'm in the area. Great coffee and friendly people behind the counter? Win/win.

E J.

Yelp
Lovely little independent coffee shop hideaway tucked down a side street just off the madness of the busy central shopping area of Manchester. The staff are lovely and friendly - as you'd expect from anywhere up North - and more than happy for you to find yourself a cosy little spot with your laptop. Coffee is lovely, snacks are super yummy. It's a little bit of a walk up the high street, but definitely worth it. Bit of a hidden gem in my opinion.

Rach M.

Yelp
Limited choice for breakfast, however the banana bread with berries, walnut and yoghurt was out of this world! A little on the pricey side, however I'd definitely return to have this delicious breakfast again! It has outdoor seating which is great on the rare occasion that there is some sun in Manchester.

Briony C.

Yelp
Stopped by here on my flying visit to Manchester. This place is pretty cool and had a good amount of seating, a cool atmosphere and good tunes if I remember correctly. With a delicious cup of popcorn tea in front of me and sitting at the tall bench seating I was pretty chuffed. They have free wifi (sign in required) and super friendly staff. The prices were reasonable and Jonny Q also showed me that they have beers available for later on in the day when you need something different from a tea/coffee which is a great idea for a cafe. I didn't get a chance to check out the food options but I would go out of my way to return here next time I'm in Manch!

Jessica Z.

Yelp
How many hipsters does it take to make a cup of tea? Well it's this really obscure number, you've probably never heard of it. Well apparently is two and the service was super slow at North Tea Power. I went in on a Saturday morning. It was super quiet when I sat down at about ten thirty, but by ten thirty five a long queue had formed and the staff seemed to be struggling to serve everyone. The tea however was really nice, served in a fancy cafetiere. I had earl grey blue and it was delicious. It was a bit pricey but the surroundings are so 'cool' that it makes up for it. It's super relaxed in there.. i dunno, I guess its a tad pretentious but I do like it.

Claire I.

Yelp
I was expecting something uber stylish indie trendy kinda place. I was right! However, I didn't expect how crammed everything would be. Mind you, being winter, EVERYONE had their big coats, bags of shopping, plus the hats, scarves, gloves, umbrella's and bags to carry all this paraphernalia around with them. Therefore the gaps in the empty photo's below were filled to the brim! When we arrived, nearly every table was taken but the lovely man behind the counter advised us there was a table for two at the back. We wanted to try the tea and sit down with a hot drink - the choice was amazing. Of course, I also asked what gluten-free choice they had too; Oat granola with yoghurt and honey Two savoury options too! I was impressed! The tea came in fancy little cafetieres and I had to explain the concept of letting the tea brew before he shoved the filter down... We had a few laughs when he struggled! Sam ordered a white tea - did not expect what we got - and I ordered an imperial. Yummy! We took our seats and squeezed ourselves between the people sat next to us. After hearing such raving reviews about the place, I felt a bit underwhelmed. I'm not even sure why... Maybe the fact it was a small place and crammed on a wintry day. Even so, it was a lovely retreat from the cold with a hot drink and I ordered the granola which was very yummy. It would be perfect for a breakfast trip before going for a big shop - even better if you can work in a cafe on your laptop!

Yelp
Easily one of the best places to drop by if you want an amazing coffee in Manchester. It's slightly hidden up a set of stairs on Tib Street, but doesn't suffer for business due to the quality of beverage produced. I've dropped in several times for a late caffeine hit and the staff have always been very friendly and even answered questions about which blends would work best brewed in various methods. My favourite of the moment being by moka pot simply because of it's relative ease and slight resemblance to an espresso strength brew, they pointed me to a blended mix they make which was fantastic, a little mild for me but only the second time I've found a coffee my wife has said she would drink again, which is no small feat. These guys have impressed me recently also with their pop-up at Indy Man Beer Con this year. They had set up next to one of the bars and were serving fantastic flat whites and even a cold brewed coffee which was stellar. They also made a collaboration beer with Black Jack Brewery which was one of my favourites of the festival simply for its inventiveness, it was a Coffee infused saison so had the lightness of a saison beer with a spicy coffee bitterness which I couldn't even place until one of the brewers told me it was coffee, I had thought possibly paprika.

Hannah Q.

Yelp
I don't drink a lot of coffee but when I do have one I want it to be damn good and for me NTP are making and selling the best coffees in Manchester. It's pretty stereotypical of the Northern Quarter, with the clientele generally being young and super hip, many on their Mac books taking advantage of the free wifi and using it as a home office. Staff are friendly but pretty straightforward, just getting on with the job in hand rather than being massively chatty which is not a problem with me. Ordering is done at the counter and it can sometimes take a while for your coffee to be brought over but they do get busy and there is real care and attention to detail when making their coffees. It should be mentioned at this point that other beverages are available, including fresh herbal teas and a few good craft beers for those inclined! Food is fairly minimal with just a few pre-prepped sandwich options and cakes. The cakes that I have tried have always been really good (amazing rocky road) but either they don't have the biggest selection or I must just get there too late in the day! If you like your coffee though this is definitely my number one choice!

Simran H.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere, and lovely, friendly staff, but was severely unimpressed by the food and drink here. I had the iced tea latte, and my friend had the elderflower iced tea -- needless to say, my drink, whilst billed as a speciality drink ("You can't get it anywhere else!") was just cold tea... The elderflower iced tea was even worse, with a bitter, medicinal aftertaste. I had the goats cheese and tomato chutney sandwich; a nice and interesting flavour combination, but the bread was dry and covered in what appeared to be a mixture of salt and sugar... I don't know what this ambiguous white dust was, but it sure made a mess. After reading such rave reviews of this place, I have to say, I was quite disappointed. Teacup, though more expensive, is only around the corner, and much better quality.

Jessica D.

Yelp
I like this place. Great coffee, decent cake and a great place to come and chill. It does get busy here, particularly as the place fills with the Apple clan working away on their laptops. There is covered outdoor seating which is great in summer. It's definitely one of the best coffee places in Manchester but they need to work on their cake. As I can never say no to cake when it is placed in front of me, I tend to buy something and am almost always disappointed. I don't know where they source it but it is usually over priced and just not that great. The tea selection is very good and it is all loose leaf. Unfortunately they serve it in plungers (I don't understand this fad) so your second cup is always over brewed. But again, great coffee.

Yelp
So my view is that this place really wins on quality, the coffee is killer, and the food too. You're gonna get charged Northern Quarter prices,so be prepared. Some might find this place a bit too cool for school, which is pretty true. For me, it's what I expected and so I can handle Jethro and his fashion beard and bicycles, if it means I get to eat and drink great things! I'm half hipster anyway! To be honest the place looks cool and I wish I had a beard. Bottom line? One of the rare proper coffees I've had in Manchester. Win. I also like the way things are laid out at the cash point, it really makes me want to EAT them. I'd give it five, but the Balcony of Inpenetrable Smoke nearly puts me off going in. Especially since it wafts in some times! Bad choice that. On the flip side, if you're the kind of twerp who's going to have a paddy about that and not go in, you'll probably be too busy moaning to enjoy it any way! Awesome cafe.

Yelp
Every time, the coffee was better than the tea Too much choice so I'm slowly working through the menu of drinks. The tea has not been good so far but I live in hope. The coffee has been better but I wouldn't come here as a preference.

Yelp
What a good little coffee shop. It smells divine as you walk in. The seating it self isn't the best but what it lacks comfort its make up in quality. The coffee is delicious. There is water on hand if your feel like a connoisseur and want to cleanser your palate before you part take in coffee. The staff are helpful and loo is nice and clean.

Yelp
This is a lovely coffee shop in Manchester City centre in the northern quarter it something different from the big chains. They have a lovely selection of herbal teas which I usually try and my partner loves coffee so he always tries a different type of coffee. They do lovely home made cakes and sandwich. It's a really chilled out place and your not rushed you could sit there all day and they wouldn't mind. It's a lovely change from the busy coffee shops a place to get away from everything for an hour.

Yelp
I'd give more stars if it were possible - this place is fantastic in every way possible :) each time I've been the staff have been genuinely kind and helpful. The atmosphere is super relaxed and the decor is simple but attractive. Plus, the quality of coffee and food (only things I've tried so far) are stellar.

Yelp
North tea Power is the hipster NQ par excellence. And I don't consider it as a drawback. It is such a cosy place , the music is very soft and well chosen , there is a good choice of tea, coffees , infusions. It is not a huge place but you won't feel it incommodious : there is a central table where a group of student was working on a project, and 4/5 little tables around. It is not one of those hermetic modern cafés : there is something very personal here ( my English doesn't permit me to describe it perfectly, but I hope you understand the idea ). The servers are tattooed , bearded style men , but you feel no judgement or pressure here: everyone comes as he/she want , my favourite cafe so far in Manchester.

Yelp
Hidden gem of the Northern Quarter, and easily best coffee in Manchester. Care taken in both the coffee program and food offerings. All kind of roasters served, and similar divercity for their teas. As a bonus only shop I've experienced in the UK where you can choose between Aeropress (metal and paper filter), Syphon, Cold Brew, V60, and all traditional preparations. I certainly would love to taste more shops that surprise with this range.

Yelp
Another cosy tea room in the Northern Quarter! That is a good thing in my book as I love them and competition is good for quality and innovation! I had a latte and a carrot cake with poppy seeds. These were both of a high standard and I'd be happy to get the same again. I noticed lots of homemade treats and there was soup and sandwiches on the menu. Not sure if they do hot food? The staff were friendly and helpful. There are newspapers hanging on the wall, definitely a plus point. The decor was cosy and welcoming, I remember lots of wood everywhere. I would happily return.

Yelp
Popped into NTP for the first time last Friday after our weekly burger fix at Almost Famous, and as i'm not a tea drinker these days (especially posh flavoured ones),I had a latte instead, and a very nice brew it was too. Right up there with the same drink i've had at Teacup and Home Sweet Home. The drink was made all the better because I could sit outside and have a smoke whilst avoiding the folk inside stealing table space with their laptops....you know who you are! : ) I'm still yet to find a nicer coffee than I got in 2nd View at Waterstones, but what I had in NTP was good enough for me to pop back in,and next time I may even opt for cake, assuming i'm not already full of carnivorous goodness first........

Yelp
Been here a few times, most of the time actually having a meeting with a client. Its a nice convenient place to meet. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and free wifi. Seems to be a place were most people have a laptop - which pretty much all seem to be Macbooks (I guess it is the Northern Quarter and where the arty/hip/indie people are) - with them. Having a drink while doing a bit of work - or maybe just generally surfing the net or checking facebook?? As well as drinks, they have a selection of cakes/sandwiches etc - not tried them myself so can't comment but heard they taste good.

Yelp
North Tea Power is my go to on record store visits (Picadilly Records is my jaaayum!)and a must on record store day every year. Very worthy place to visit, great coffee and some lovely tea, only slight knock off 5* is the price which always skews a tad high.
