We arrived late and left early for a ferry unfortunately but would happily stay again for a longer time. Despite being out of hours the reception was never bothered and still super friendly. The hotel itself is beautiful and the rooms extremely spacious and well furnished. Could do with new flooring and you could hear other people faintly (not enough to keep you up) is my only tiny gripe but honestly this cannot take away from a 5 star review as the place was lovely and so was the staff. Food sounded great (although we were unfortunately unable to try it) and the amenities were fab. We hope to be back in the daylight hours!

Having spent yet another New Year in the NWC, it never fails to impress! Ian helped us with a problem of a double room instead of a twin on our first day and the whole 3 nights were amazing - great entertainment and fabulous food and great company - ye just cannae beat it - thank you ALL at NWC especially Ann in dining room and Helen and of course Ian - see you all next year. ❤️

We booked a family room which didn't disappoint. The room was very spacious, clean and comfortable with a lovely view over Lochryan. Dinner in the dining room was exceptional as was the breakfast (plenty of choice). The staff as always very attentive, friendly and helpful. Despite living locally, we enjoy a wee break at this hotel. Would highly recommend.

We came to Stranraer for just one night, and this hotel was our pick. On arrival, it genuinely looked like a quaint little castle - even more charming than the pictures suggested. Our room exceeded expectations, complete with a lovely view over what I think was the Stranraer port or perhaps the sea. The amenities were far more than we expected: a fun game room, a pool, a gym, plenty to keep you entertained. I actually found myself regretting that we were only staying for one night. The hotel seems to be a hub for special occasions like wedding receptions; during our stay, there was a wedding anniversary being celebrated. While you could hear the festivities from certain areas, it was never loud enough to disturb us in our room. Convenience was another plus, there's a Greggs right next door for a quick coffee and sausage roll in the morning. Parking is plentiful in the hotel, too. For me, the highlight was the bar lounge area. We stayed there until midnight, enjoying great drinks and great service from the friendly bartenders. All in all, this hotel was a delightful find that I would highly recommend if you find yourself in Stranraer!

We visited during November; it was a one night’s stay with my sister. I am not posting under my real name. ||The Good: |The hotel is well sign posted, convenient to the ferries and convenient if you arrive late before a long drive North or South. |There’s ample parking |The staff are friendly |The price is moderate to good |Externally the hotel is well presented |Food delicious ||The Bad: |Very dated |Damp smell permeates through the common areas |1970s vibe overall with some hints of 1980s and 1990s||The OK: |Swimming pool dated and stinky of mould, but clean if that makes sense ||To Summarise: This hotel requires significant investment. This should be a collaborative effort between the owner and perhaps Visit Scotland and the local council. To see such a historic building decay internally is very sad. ||I am returning next year and expect to see some positive signs of investment.

This place is ideal to stay at if you're using the ferry. Our room was clean and very comfortable. The cooked breakfast was very nice as were the buffet bits. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

Stayed at this hotel 2 nights the first night paid 85.5 and got a a great room I was impressed it was newly renovated but the windows had draft coming through them, but when asked to extend my stay was told that that room is booked by another guest which was no problem at all so when I got a different room for 96 quid when I came to the room I was in shock because I've seen better hostels I mean 10 more in price for a bed you cant sleep on because you can feel every spring in your back the lights dont work above the bed old outdated and frankly disgusting!!! When I asked the staff how do I get a room 10 times worse than before they just said sorry nothing we can do about it and our prices changes depending on the amount of guests staying i mean I understand its not the receptionist fault but they weren't really bothered to help and in my stay I needed a good night's rest which unfortunately wasn't the case apart from that I did enjoy the curling rink the lesuire suite was nice although could do with a fleshing up so if all the rooms get refurbished would be a wonderfully hotel lots of potential unfortunately the 2nd night ruined it for me food wise the breakfast is so greasy I had to use a napkin to try and soak the grease up as for lunch or dinner well I didn't go for it because the breakfast ruined the experience of eating at the hotel
