Coast to Coast Walk in England

"An upland moorland of gray-green, rust-brown and purple hues where heather, grasses and mosses thrive on peat soils; the landscape alternates between open moor and patches of forest. The terrain flattens in places to provide long views before descending toward the coast, and the vegetation and colors change noticeably compared with the lush lake districts to the west." - Mike Nolan

Lots of fossils in the rocks along the beach. Beautiful views and a cute town. Parking is tough though.

Just did an intertidal survey on the beach, followed by good value toasties and hot chocolates at the yha, all Very lovely!

Farndale village, a beautiful place to park at this time of year when the daffodils are in flower you can go for a short walk to the Daffy Cafe. Walk back to your car or do a circular walk higher up moor. Too strenuous for me.

It is a nice calm place, mostly for walking. We didn't do much, though, as it was raining and extremely cold. The service area was closed. I had the feeling that it was an off-season as people were apparently there working on maintenance, perhaps. The way to the moors is so picturesque. We had to stop and take a few photos. It is much colder than York. There was ice and snow in a lot of places on the way. In a couple of instances, we had to drive so slowly for safety, but the road is generally safe. It's just being cautious about the weather. It took almost an hour from York City Center.

So many activities laid out for families despite mixed weather. Great gallery and shop. Lovely cafe with tasty food and friendly service. Electric charging points a bonus.

The most beautiful scenery, walks, steam trains, rivers and villages.

One of our favorite parts of the island with landscapes, nature and history where a one-day trip can turn your time into an unforgettable adventure. Where the setting sun, full moon and sunrise will each create an atmosphere for memories that will last a lifetime. And of course, the moors where in late summer they create fantastic landscapes and... the purple sea.

This is actually a picture of West Ayton caravan and motor club site, which is based in West Ayton not far from Scarborough. This is a lovely area of the country and the site is within driving distance of the sea, or you can catch a bus. The site is always well presented, clean and tidy and well placed to walk in the surrounding area.
