Northern Light Inn & Max's Restaurant

We had a wonderful stay at the NLI! The new updates they did to the hallways and shared areas look fantastic. The rooms was clean and inviting. Their restaurant served us an excellent meal at dinner and we got to enjoy the free breakfast the following morning. Best part about our stay was getting the wake up call at 1am to see the northern lights. It was literally our last night in town and with cloudy foggy weather most of the week before we were unable to see the northern lights. Seeing the northern lights due to the wake up call truly made our trip worth it! Thanks for the wonderful stay!

First off this hotel has the kindest staff in existence, everyone who works there is lovely. The only reason I am giving it 3 stars is when I booked from the pictures it seems like you would be in a remote location away from everything with peaceful scenery. There is a plant or big industrial area behind the hotel with bright lights and steam and aesthetically the place is really underwhelming. The spa also seemed way more magical in the pictures and it is just two saunas in a big room without anything natural or views. Small gym. I just want this review to help others not expect what I sought and be disappointed. But otherwise, if you aren’t going there because of that, the rooms are basic, clean and comfortable, it’s a great location to enjoy a full day at blue lagoon.

A semi-forced stay after a weather cancelation of my flight. So glad I got a room here. A short (10-15 minute) drive from KEF. It's very relaxed, very calm, very chill. The reception was friendly and effective - maybe 10 minutes from entry until I was in my room. There is a great communal area with coffee, tea and a honor-based shop. The spa is excellent - IR, steam and hot sauna, perfect to unwind. The rooms are very good with excellent beads. My wife got the name from reception of the douvet and pillow supplier to get some for our home. ||The restaurant Max was suprisingly good. It's very reasonably priced and has some excellent options. Starters and mains plus two glasses of a quality white set us back by about 110 USD, and in Iceland that's cheap.||I think this hotel is ideal for those that want to get away from the bustle of the city and focus on nature and the environment. I think it's an ideal choice for (at least) the last night before a departing flight, or the first day after a red-eye. Can walk over to the BL for a dip, or take a walk to examine the massive defensive walls after the reccent volcanic activity (btw - no need to worry about that - in fact an unlikely eruption would be a treat, and at no extra cost...)

Really enjoyed our stay! Siggy was an excellent host and we felt very well attended. The restaurant is great, rooms are clean, large and comfortable and the location absolutely met our needs for our visit to the Blue Lagoon. We loved the big hang out lounge and movie room too!

This was by far the best experience I've ever had while traveling. We received our call around 2100 and were able to see the northern lights. The food in the restaurant is delicious. Their honest room was a nice place to cozy up. We also experienced a visit from the Yule Lads! Transport to and from the blue lagoon was perfect as well. Will definitely visit again!

Excellent stay! Wonderful hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. The room was clean, modern, and comfortable, and the atmosphere was calm and relaxing. Great location for exploring Iceland, plus a delicious breakfast. Highly recommended — we would definitely stay here again!

Great place! We felt welcomed the moment we arrived. Spacious room, super comfy bed, very nice spa and restaurant. Cool location, just a few minutes drive from the Blue Lagoon (and they run a shuttle service).

Fantastic stay. We visited the hotel in 2022 (also great) and knew we’d be back at some point. Sadly since our last visit, the hotel and surrounding areas had to endure the volcanic eruption in 2023. Our trip this time was just as great in every way. The staff are so friendly which makes a massive difference, the lounge area with the open log fire is genuinely one of my favourite places on the globe, it’s one of the most relaxing things ever! Special shout out to Karolina who was so accommodating to our group. Showing us the impact of the volcano and taking us / picking us up from the Blue Lagoon. We hope to return again in the future!
