Northern Light Inn & Max's Restaurant

We had a great stay! We were looking for a few days of rest and relaxation. The room was comfortable and we appreciated the high quality down duvets and pillows. The staff was excellent and informed us anytime the Northern Lights were visible. We used the shuttle to the Blue Lagoon and enjoyed our stress free visit. The food was excellent and the restaurant service was fantastic. The hotel has done a great job of creating cozy and relaxing common areas which we used often. If we stop over in Iceland again, we will stay at this property. I highly recommend!

We loved our stay here. The staff was wonderful. Very friendly and accommodating. They even did a small load of laundry after a spill, taking care not to dry some garments. While we didn’t eat there as we were out and about around meal times, we did enjoy a late evening snack and delicious cocktails. Our room was a nice size although the bathroom was a bit small. Quite sufficient though. The common sitting room had a very nice cozy feel with the fire going and a lovely view. We sat there late in the evening taking advantage of the Honor Bar with a nice glass of wine or local beer. For us the location was perfect as we hoped to see the Northern Lights unobstructed. The weather didn’t cooperate, but we were not disappointed in the least. Traveling from the hotel was easy using our rental car. It snowed daily but we didn’t have any difficulty driving about the island. We experienced many gorgeous sights and left wanting to return. Iceland was wonderful!

We had a lovely one night stay here. The rooms are clean, the service is excellent and they offer a northern lights night call if they appear! There is a great living room area with comfy seats, a fire and puzzles / cards. The hotel is close to Blue Lagoon and the airport. They have had a few recent eruption warnings and evacuations but were extremely clear about the procedures and we felt very comfortable staying there.

Great location and service. Hotel was extremely accommodating and everyone was very nice especially to foreigners. If I’m ever in Iceland again, I would stay here. Also close to blue lagoon and northern lights come out due to low light pollution. Highly recommend.

From the moment we stepped in the lobby we felt at ease and at home. The man who greeted us told us everything we needed to know and set up all of our transportation effortlessly. The rooms are lovely, bigger than expected, and very clean. The hotel is small, but that gives it a quaint, warm feel. We enjoyed breakfast and lunch and Max's diner, both hit the spot. We used the honesty bar when we arrived, because we arrived late at night. Warming up with a cocktail by the fire was a perfect welcome and chance to settle in!

The staff are so welcoming and helpful. Their hospitality is next level! We travel without driving. The hotel is easily accessible by affordable taxi booked by hotel within 20 minutes. You can take their free shuttle to blue lagoon, and easily get destination blue lagoon shuttle to Reykjavik, at affordable price. We enjoyed blue lagoon for a whole day, and this hotel is the best spot to stay. The breakfast has much delicious warm food, scrambled eggs, sausages, oats porridge( so yum), with plenty of fruits and bread and even cake. We also have dinner two nights in a row in Max's restaurant. The food is so delicious, quality ingredients, without over seasoning, and very reasonable price. The room is so comfortable and clean. Oh, and we see northern lights on both two nights! The hotel even provides wake up call for that! Highly recommended!!

10/10 would recommend this to anyone staying in this area. Perfect location for anyone wanting to access the blue lagoon or seeing the local area. We did not see the northern lights but we nonetheless had a wonderful stay here. The food is absolutely phenomenal in Max’s restaurant. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate us, for example preparing a meal to have in our room when our flight was delayed despite the kitchen being closed, or organising early breakfast, check out and an airport taxi for our early departure, or running the shuttle to the blue lagoon free of charge for our day trip. I cannot recommend this place enough.

The entire stay, though brief, was lovely. The staff went the extra mile every time to make sure my trip went smoothly, especially since the road wasn't yet open to tourists and all rental cars had to be parked offsite in Grindavik. The Living Room and Honesty Bar were a great location to unwind and relax outside of the room. Max's restaurant was delicious - loved the variety and LOVED the fish and chips. By the time I left everyone felt like family. Can't wait to return!
