Graduated from NMU in ‘08 and it was one of the most impactful and wonderful experiences in my life. The area is breathtaking and the size was just right between knowing lots of people and always meeting someone new. Would be very happy if my kids went here.

I got my bachelors of science at Northern Michigan University and my advice for any young person considering going to school at NMU is go somewhere else because the only successful people I know of who went to that school and got their degree from there are former students who landed jobs with the university after graduation. Go to a more reputable school whose name is more widely recognized.

Graduated back in '12. So glad I decided to go here. Some truly amazing professors, great location, was able to take part in some really great projects.

Google
Top-notch faculty and an consistently-updated facility. One may wish for the administration to be more forthcoming and involved, but they generally did okay. Cost was low, plenty of scholarship opportunities, on-campus living conditions were better than many. Thoroughly enjoyed my time here.

Yelp
I purchased their internet service. It was beyond terrible. Slower than 56k. I cancelled it. Informed them I wanted a refund within 30 days. No responses. Emailed. Called. Contacted them through zendesk. THEN! They send me a bill for $111 and STILL will not acknowledge that I cancelled. I asked for a refund and to send back their useless equipment. Thieves!

Yelp
Horrible university. I submitted my application and application fee and they then took my application fee and said it was missing and changed my admission date. When we contacted them they did not change my admission date back to what I had selected and said they didn't not have my money even though I sent them my bank records.

Yelp
The University was a great experience. I graduated with a Bachelors in Science after attending for four years. The Education program is like no other in this country. I now work in las vegas and have realized how well I was prepared for being a teacher. The campus it self is beautiful. When I moved there I had never seen anything like it before. Lake superior is amazing. The campus is right on the water with several things to do related to water. DO NOT LET THE WINTER STOP YOU FROM GOING THERE. During the winter is when the real fun happens. People are extremely nice in this city and the real activites happen when there is snow on the ground.

Yelp
NMU class '05. Got to know the ins and outs of college through NMU. Admissions, staff, professors all knew me on a first name basis. Very helpful. Great campus. PEIF was great. Dorms average. When substitute teaching, I am always trying to recruit future students...

Yelp
I did not attend or take classes here, but I visited a friend living in the dormitories. From walking around campus and spending time in the town, I get a good vibe overall. The university has some interesting traditions, and there seem to be a variety of programs offered. Campus is not too spread out, easy to walk or bike around it in a short amount of time. It looks as though studying takes place, but the students make time for fun also or have a variety of activities and extracurricular activities to participate in if they so choose.

Yelp
I'm sad. the university had so much to offer. they seem in decline. the campus is not cheery or full of students. enrollment is down. what happened? it is not working with the current academics, instructors, administration or campus appearance. they have a new building, but is looks like they did not get an architect. the new building, looks like the others, a jail or prison. classrooms are dated--so quiet you can hear a pin drop. where is the life? administration all has fancy degrees, but little experience. where is the NMU I knew? I'd advise them if they wanted...the current path is self destructive.
