There is little that can be said about the location that has not yet been written here : Ginzan onsen is one of the places you must visit once in your life if you have the chance to live in Japan. The best time to book your stay is at the end of December until early February, while the whole place is covered with magical snow. The snow covered onsen town offers a unique and unforgettable sight. This is the real Christmas village you have seen in your children's books a long time ago. I'm not going to lie: booking at the best season is not going to be easy. Booking sessions start at a specific moment of the year and everyone is rushing to get a good spot. You must be quick and lucky. Ginzan onsen is a small place and might get very crowded, very quickly. Night time is the best moment to take your camera out. Anyway, Noyoya Ryokan is a beautiful facility with a long history. Rooms are spacious and clean. They offer all the amenities you might expect from such a place. If you're lucky, you'll have a good view over the main street illuminations. Food is good, coffee is offered at the first floor coffee shop after the breakfast, and the service is spotless. The onsen is very decent too.

Located across the red bridge in Ginzan Onsen. Very nice Japanese Ryokan with good service, clean amenity. I enjoyed about the Chinok bathroom and outdoor public Onsen. The food is OK for the price. I found two came mushi ( stink bug , not bed bug) in the room, which is a common finding in rural house this season ( warm summer). They do provide duct tape for removing it safely.

We had a wonderful stay at this very special ryokan. Our room was large and had a great view of the town. We could sit by the window and listen to the river, which was great. The air conditioning worked well, but the room still felt traditional. The staff were all extremely friendly and provided impeccable service. We also loved the dinner and breakfast — both were beautifully presented and delicious. The town itself is so charming and picturesque to walk around during the day and in the evening. I would love to return someday!

Can't believe this is the place where their famous drama Oshin was filmed long ago. Watched this drama when I'm just a child. Beautiful place to visit if you like to get away from city life. Very traditional room and a bit run down maybe we stayed in the main wing. Still a lovely place to visit. 1 night is enough for us.

This was a truly a magical place to stay for my family with lots of lovely shops to visit nearby. There’s a coffee shop that made the best iced latte and shaved ice cream.

Very special place! Although quite expensive, a one night stay in Notoya was the perfect Ginzan experience. The dinner and breakfast were exceptional, and the Notoya staff provided outstanding service throughout our stay. If visiting in winter months, be mindful of the ice on the bridges and pathways.

My friend and I had a wonderful time at Notoya. We had a lovely room overlooking the river. We really enjoyed dinner and breakfast there. I required special diet but they kindly prepared beautiful meals for me with no extra charge. The night before, we stayed at a different ryokan opposite from Noroya. They charged extra for my meals even though I gave them one week notice. Anyhow, we enjoyed every minute of our stay at Notoya. I highly recommend the ryokan.
