"The first church to stand in the middle of the Place-Royale was built in 1688. After being severely damaged during the British siege of the city in 1759, Notre-Dame-des-Victoires was reconstructed on the same site. It has been remodeled and restored several times during its long history, but its original character has been carefully preserved. The church is still in use, and is a beloved symbol of the endurance of francophone culture in Québec. Step inside for a glimpse of one of the oldest churches in Canada."

A small but deeply historic gem in Old Québec! Église Notre-Dame-des-Victoires is one of the oldest stone churches in North America, dating back to the 1600s. Located right in the heart of Place Royale, it’s surrounded by charming cobblestone streets and classic Québec architecture. The church interior is simple yet beautiful, filled with history and peaceful energy. You can often step inside for a quiet moment of reflection or to admire the traditional wooden altar and stained-glass windows. It’s a quick visit, but one that captures the spirit and history of Old Québec perfectly. Definitely worth stopping by while exploring the lower town.

We passed by Église Notre-Dame-des-Victoires during our walk around Old Quebec. Unfortunately, it was closed when we were there, so we couldn’t go inside. Still, even from the outside, it looked beautiful. The stone building has so much character and history, and it really stands out in the middle of Place Royale. It’s one of those places that makes you stop and take a moment just to look at it. Hopefully next time we visit, we’ll be able to go inside and see it properly.

Notre-Dame-des-Victoires in Quebec City is a hidden gem of history and serenity! This petite stone church, the oldest in North America, sits on Place Royale in the Lower Town’s Old Quebec, built in 1688 atop Samuel de Champlain’s original outpost ruins. Renamed for French victories over British fleets in 1690 and 1711, its cozy interior dazzles with 18th-century paintings, gilded altars, and a suspended 17th-century ship model evoking New France’s seafaring past. A quick, peaceful visit amid cobblestone charm and nearby frescoes—perfect for soaking in UNESCO vibes. Free entry, timeless magic!

Montreal in Quebec is the best place to visit. also known as old Quebec. For you to enjoy this area you need 1 to 2 days. At Quebec people speak French a few can speak English. We went there by bus our first stop is notre dame des victoires catholic church unfortunately the church is under repair that is why we are not allow inside so taking some pictures around the area but was so impressed by the surroundings architecture mostly french and British influences stone buildings make the place worth a visit. After this place we walk to Fairmont le chateau frontenac hotel surrounding.

We took the funicular down to lower QC to look at the historic sites. Wondering around we found this beautiful old restored Catholic Church. Glad it has been saved.

Church Construction of Notre-Dame-des-Victoires Church began in 1688, making it one of North America's oldest churches. It was built on the ruins of Samuel de Champlain’s first home. Unfortunately, bombardments damaged it during the Battle of Québec but was rebuilt according to the original plans in 1763. The church was originally dedicated to the Infant Jesus, but after two successive political victories, the name Notre-Dame-des-Victoires came to commemorate them. this whole square with the church in the background - looks very beautiful and feels like you are in some European city Time: it's not open for visitors, A service is still held there every Sunday at 11 AM, and at that time, visitors are welcome. Restroom: if you need one, there is a very clean and spacious restroom right there at the square. Just beside the cafe [Café La Maison Smith Notre-Dame], it's there. see attached photo.

Yelp
What a beautiful small Catholic Church located in the lower town of Old Quebec. I just love going into old churches for the serenity and the peacefulness found within its walls. Apparently this church is one of the oldest in Canada and is still actively conducting masses. Apparently this church was the setting for the movie. "Catch me if you can" kind of hard to believe that, however. Definitely pop in if you are in the area it's really gorgeous.

Yelp
This is a small Roman Catholic church located in the historic quarter of Quebec City. The church itself is not that impressive in its own right, especially because it is very small. However, it is historically significant as it is one of the oldest churches in North America. Construction on it originally began in 1687. Admission is free so there is no reason not to stop in. Keep an eye out for one of its most distinguishable characteristics: inside the church is a model ship that is hanging from the ceiling.

Yelp
Wonderful old Catholic church deep in the heart of Quebec City ... built essentially on the location of the original settlement. While the facility seems to get an updating/face lift every 100 or 200 years, there remains some original parts dating back to the 1600s. Once you are in Basse-ville (the lower town of Quebec City), you'll probably walk right by the front of this church and you should make a visit. There is no charge to visit and it will only take moments of your time, but will leave you with lasting memories. The architecture and furnishings are beautiful. All of it harkens back to another time. If you are interested in history, tradition, and beauty - it is right here in Place-Royale. Please stop by.

Yelp
This Catholic church is located in the Lower town of Quebec City, QC Canada. It is a beautiful little stone church that was first constructed back in 1723 (I believe). One of the oldest stone churches in North America. You do not have to be Catholic in order to appreciate the Church Notre-Dame-des-Victoires (Our Lady of Victories). There is much history here to learn and appreciate. A "must see" spot when you are in Old Quebec!

Yelp
The Notre-Dame-des-Victoires Church is located in the heart of Place-Royale, in Basse-Ville, and is the oldest church in Old Quebec. Open year round, it's a popular tourist attraction as well as a place of worship. TRIVIA: It was a film location for one of the closing scenes the movie "Catch Me If You Can". We went for Christmas Mass a few years back, and it remains one of the special moments in my life.

Yelp
Beautiful ancient Church. The priests came out before Mass and introduced themselves and gave us historical info and local tips. Don't miss the old paintings on the walls (1765) and the ship suspended from the ceiling. Be aware the church isn't always open but it's always there :)
