"The first church to stand in the middle of the Place-Royale was built in 1688. After being severely damaged during the British siege of the city in 1759, Notre-Dame-des-Victoires was reconstructed on the same site. It has been remodeled and restored several times during its long history, but its original character has been carefully preserved. The church is still in use, and is a beloved symbol of the endurance of francophone culture in Québec. Step inside for a glimpse of one of the oldest churches in Canada."

Happened to be out for a stroll when the church was having the Sunday service. Was welcomed in and allowed to stroll through the space. For its age it is quite beautiful. Lovely paintings and artifacts. Worth checking out or evening attending the service.

Church Construction of Notre-Dame-des-Victoires Church began in 1688, making it one of North America's oldest churches. It was built on the ruins of Samuel de Champlain’s first home. Unfortunately, bombardments damaged it during the Battle of Québec but was rebuilt according to the original plans in 1763. The church was originally dedicated to the Infant Jesus, but after two successive political victories, the name Notre-Dame-des-Victoires came to commemorate them. this whole square with the church in the background - looks very beautiful and feels like you are in some European city Time: it's not open for visitors, A service is still held there every Sunday at 11 AM, and at that time, visitors are welcome. Restroom: if you need one, there is a very clean and spacious restroom right there at the square. Just beside the cafe [Café La Maison Smith Notre-Dame], it's there. see attached photo.

Notre-Dame-des-Victoires (Our Lady of Victories) church stands as a testament to Canada's rich history, being the oldest stone-built church erected in 1688. Its significance is further highlighted by the fact that it was the first church in Canada to be elevated to the rank of minor basilica by Pope Pius IX in 1874. This architectural marvel is nestled in the heart of Place-Royale in Old Quebec and holds the prestigious status of being a national historic site in Canada. The church draws in a steady stream of tourists, evident from the long queues that form at its entrance. Despite the wait, a visit to Notre-Dame-des-Victoires is an experience well worth every moment.

It's nice esthetic view in Montreal. There are restaurant, there is live music and dance there is old painting, what else I needed! Nothing. Great experience. Must visit this place. This place also contains great history between French and British people. It's not even much crowded place. People are very friendly.

Beautiful church, a must see. Interesting piece of trivia: This place was featured in the 2002 Tom Hanks/Leonardo DiCaprio film " Catch Me If You Can". Beyond its Hollywood appearances, it is very noteworthy simply because it is one of the oldest churches in North America. This magnificent structure was constructed between 1687 and 1723. It was destroyed during The Battle of The Plains of Abraham ( "French and Indian War" for Americans, " Seven Years War" for Canadians), and then completely rebuilt. If you're in Old Quebec City, this is a must see. Apprecier/enjoy!

Church at the center of lower Quebec City. Wonderful charm! There was a wedding in progress while we were there, otherwise we would have seen the inside. The town square is super picturesque! Relax and enjoy this corner of the world.

Yelp
What a beautiful small Catholic Church located in the lower town of Old Quebec. I just love going into old churches for the serenity and the peacefulness found within its walls. Apparently this church is one of the oldest in Canada and is still actively conducting masses. Apparently this church was the setting for the movie. "Catch me if you can" kind of hard to believe that, however. Definitely pop in if you are in the area it's really gorgeous.

Yelp
This is a small Roman Catholic church located in the historic quarter of Quebec City. The church itself is not that impressive in its own right, especially because it is very small. However, it is historically significant as it is one of the oldest churches in North America. Construction on it originally began in 1687. Admission is free so there is no reason not to stop in. Keep an eye out for one of its most distinguishable characteristics: inside the church is a model ship that is hanging from the ceiling.

Yelp
Wonderful old Catholic church deep in the heart of Quebec City ... built essentially on the location of the original settlement. While the facility seems to get an updating/face lift every 100 or 200 years, there remains some original parts dating back to the 1600s. Once you are in Basse-ville (the lower town of Quebec City), you'll probably walk right by the front of this church and you should make a visit. There is no charge to visit and it will only take moments of your time, but will leave you with lasting memories. The architecture and furnishings are beautiful. All of it harkens back to another time. If you are interested in history, tradition, and beauty - it is right here in Place-Royale. Please stop by.

Yelp
This Catholic church is located in the Lower town of Quebec City, QC Canada. It is a beautiful little stone church that was first constructed back in 1723 (I believe). One of the oldest stone churches in North America. You do not have to be Catholic in order to appreciate the Church Notre-Dame-des-Victoires (Our Lady of Victories). There is much history here to learn and appreciate. A "must see" spot when you are in Old Quebec!

Yelp
The Notre-Dame-des-Victoires Church is located in the heart of Place-Royale, in Basse-Ville, and is the oldest church in Old Quebec. Open year round, it's a popular tourist attraction as well as a place of worship. TRIVIA: It was a film location for one of the closing scenes the movie "Catch Me If You Can". We went for Christmas Mass a few years back, and it remains one of the special moments in my life.

Yelp
Beautiful ancient Church. The priests came out before Mass and introduced themselves and gave us historical info and local tips. Don't miss the old paintings on the walls (1765) and the ship suspended from the ceiling. Be aware the church isn't always open but it's always there :)
