Yelp
U know if u are in Paris u should come check this out as it is such a historic building. Seeing it after the fire it's a wow moment only because u can see how much work they are putting into restoring this land mark. Beautiful building & once it opens again it will be amazing to once again visit & see the inside but for now nice to still see it standing.

Yelp
I was lucky to have been one of the last few tourists to visit Notre Dame, I'm a globe trotter n have been always 1 step ahead of the terrorists, for example 911 in NYC, bombing in Bali n bombing in Cancun. Macron n all politicians refused to call this an attack n said it was just a tiny cigarette stub so I won't go into it, he promised he'd rebuild it but we're now 2023 n it was still scaffolded! Five years after the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris caught fire, restoration works have been ongoing ever since. Dozens of French and international companies work to finish the rebuilding of the World Heritage Site in the spring of 2024. Good luck w the projected date 04-15-2024, Macron has spent €830 million ($895 million), mostly donated funds. I thought I could go inside but disappointed I wasn't able to. In 2018, I was able to spend 5 hours there climbing all the way to where Quasimodo stood to ring the bell n Esmeralda was there, I was fascinated by the movie n novel as a child, I have to dig up footages to post all the movies I made standing literally in front of the gigantic bell, the spire n gargoyles, it was such a glorious sight. I was in Paris recently despite all the military w AK47 guarding all the monuments, a German tourist was stabbed to death by a terrorist at the Eiffel Tower. I'll never go back to Paris, it's like a war zone w migrants everywhere worse than in NYC under Brandon policy.

Yelp
A beautiful structure on the outside. This is still under construction as of 11/25/2023. There are picture boards along the sides to show the before and progress of what is being done. Will have to visit another time! Outside there is a viewing stairs much like one in NY in Times Square to sit and view and take pics. Today there was some lady outside taking old photographs with an "old" camera that prints out a paper that looks like a black and white print newspaper article for donation. She takes all sort of currency and pay pal.

Yelp
I can't imagine giving this anything but 5 stars, even with the construction currently going on. This is something you must see while in Paris and I can't recommend it enough. Take the time to visit, learn about the area, and see some great history.

Yelp
Since the Notre-Dame de Paris fire of April 2019, which nearly destroyed it, both locals and tourist have been vying to get a better idea of the progress of it's reconstruction. We use to call them Sidewalk Superintendents in the old days. LOL But when we were here this past Summer, you couldn't really see much and all paths to get closer were blocked off. I was able only to get some pictures from the front and side, since workers tent blocked any view. The sides have both construction scaffolding on them and draped in protective plastic covering. See photos. It was recently reported in the media: "Public officials plan to reopen the cathedral in December, 2024, and complete the restoration the following year." A very delicate project right now, has been Notre Dame's stained glass windows. Master glassmakers from across France were selected with the job of cleaning and restoration them.... "This is the first time they have been cleaned since ... they were laid in the 19th century, 150 years ago," restorer Flavie Vincent-Petit revealed to ABC News. It was also recently revealed that the caring for Notre Dame's stained glass windows is not just a French affair, as members from the Kölner Dom (Cologne Cathedral) has joined the effort in restoring them. "The work is proceeding extremely well," said Michel Picaud, president of the charity Friends of Notre Dame de Paris. "What has been decided is to restore the cathedral to the state she was in before the fire and ... the schedule seems very solid." So, December 2024 it is then. It will be a very "Très Chic Affair" at Notre-Dame de Paris!

Yelp
Hope for the future, as the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris, France is being rebuilt after the horrific fire.

Yelp
I've been here before the 2019 fire several times. Seeing it mid-rennovation now is a bit surreal. It's actually like a once in a lifetime thing to see it being repaired. Reading the posted descriptions of harvesting timbers, hand cleaning and painting of the structure... Looking on as we circled around we can look into sections of the structure open through the burned out roof. From across the Seine river the view reveals the scale of this project. It's obviously a gigantic undertaking. For the herculean scale and importance of this work in saving it... 5 stars

Yelp
Our Lady of Paris, referred to as Notre-Dame, is a medieval Catholic cathedral on the Île de la Cité an island in the Seine River. The cathedral is considered one of the finest examples of French Gothic architecture. Several of its attributes set it apart from the earlier Romanesque style, particularly its pioneering use of the rib vault and flying buttresses. It's enormous & colorful rose windows, the naturalism and abundance of its sculptural decoration set it apart. . Notre Dame also stands out for its musical components, notably its three pipe organs & its immense church bells. Construction of the cathedral. In 2019 the cathedral caught fire, destroying the spire and the "forest" of oak roof beams supporting the lead roof. It was speculated that the fire was linked to ongoing renovation work. Therefore reviewed Notre Dame from a far.

Yelp
Notre Dame de Paris is one of the most iconic landmarks in the world, and it's no wonder that it's a must-see for any visitor to Paris. Unfortunately, the cathedral is currently closed to the public due to the fire that damaged it in 2019. However, you can still see it from the perimeter, and there are even some bleacher seats set up where you can get a good view. Even though you can't go inside, it's still worth seeing Notre Dame from the outside. The cathedral is absolutely stunning, and it's easy to see why it's been a source of inspiration for artists and writers for centuries. The Gothic architecture is simply breathtaking, and the stained glass windows are some of the most beautiful in the world. Even though Notre Dame is currently closed, it's still worth seeing from the outside. The cathedral is an unforgettable sight, and it's easy to see why it's one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world.

Yelp
It was sad to see what happened to the church from the fire. Looking forward to seeing the newly restored church.

Yelp
We have the advantage over many having been to Paris previously when we were able to go inside and appreciate it. We were with others who had not been to Paris before. At that point, it's a must see. Since it's always near other things you want to see, it's a quick easy stop. It's great to see the restoration being done properly.

Yelp
Notre-Dame, is a world famous medieval Catholic Cathedral completed in 1345. The cathedral, dedicated to the Virgin Mary, is considered one of the finest examples of French Gothic architecture. Sadly, the Cathedral was badly damaged by a fire in 2019, and is currently under repair. According to signage at the church, the likely cause of the fire was an electrical shortage. Donations from all over the world have funded the repairs.

Yelp
The iconic Notre Dame Paris is truly a sight to behold. Despite not being able to enter at the moment, the exterior alone is breathtakingly beautiful. The intricate details of the architecture are truly remarkable, and it's no wonder that it's considered one of the most famous cathedrals in the world. The location itself is also amazing, situated on the Île de la Cité in the heart of Paris. It's definitely worth taking a stroll around the area and taking in the views of the Seine River and surrounding cityscape. While it may have its downsides at the moment, Notre Dame Paris is still an absolute must-see for any traveler visiting Paris.

Yelp
Such a beautiful thing that so many people gather just to see the OUTSIDE of Notre Dame. The love Parisians have for the church is incredible. No other country could do what they're doing with the building.

Yelp
I was lucky enough to visit Paris well before this cathedral was destroyed by fire in 2019. Reconstruction is still under way to restore it. This medieval Catholic church was easily one of the most iconic landmarks of this city. Hopefully, when the construction is finished, it comes close to capturing its former glory.

Yelp
I mean, I don't know how you cannot rate this 5 stars (even with the scaffolding from the fire damage, it is still iconic and beautiful!) Stunning. Cannot wait to go back and be able to go inside when the renovation is done.

Yelp
Notre Dame is such a beautiful piece of architecture. It was so sad to hear when it caught fire. I hope they can restore it even though some parts will forever be lost. It's one of those landmarks that you must stop and see when you are in Paris. I've been inside and outside of the chapel. Although when I was there last, the roof viewing area was closed for construction. If you get the chance and it's open, I highly recommend going to the roof viewing area.

Yelp
Notre Dame Paris You won't see the Cathedral of Notre Dame that I visited. We can go to the new structure when we get past the pandemic. It's nice to keep our memories on Yelp. After all Notre Dame Cathedral was historic. The photos are valuable in their own way. That said, I'm going to try to compose my experience visiting the historic Notre Dame Cathedral. My last visit with my daughter was in the Fall. We enjoyed entering and adoring the inside. My daughter explained to me the steps to go up for the view. After getting claustrophobic and out of breath visiting the catacombs, she told me the drill and she scared me. I decided I would pass climbing up this trip. I don't regret my decision. I have at least one photo I found. My daughter may have more photos of the inside. I saw all I cared to see at that time. It's was a once in a lifetime experience. Now it's been there, done that. Would I visit the rebuilt cathedral. I don't think I would make it a priority. I'll enjoy your photos and reviews on Yelp!

Yelp
Can't find Notre Dame Cathedral? Did Yelp pull it? Seems they wold have left the site with former reviews intact. I feel more than fortunate to have visited before the fire destoyed a significant portion. Its sad that current visitors cant go inside because its one of the most special places Ive ever been. Like alot of people who have visited, I sat in astonishment and sadness as I watched footage of it burning on television. I felt grateful that I had been able to visit. Alot of what I would comment on and recommend may not be appropriate now. Thank goodness the reconstruction is well under way and hopefully sooner rather than later this magnificent structure can once again astonish visitors

Yelp
Last Tuesday before going to Sainte-Chapelle a block away, my partner, his family and I came to this iconic cathedral located in the fourth arrondissement. Notre Dame de Paris (Our Lady of Paris in French) is widely considered one of the finest examples of French Gothic architecture in the world. Though closed due to the fire, the exterior of the building is still very much intact and visible. There is a large amount of information on the construction barriers about the ongoing restoration work. So while you cannot get inside, the story of the building and its more recent history are readily available and worth viewing.

Yelp
I had the good fortune to visit Paris around Christmastime in 2007 and it was lovely! The Notre Dame Cathedral was no exception. They put a giant tree on the outside of the church and the inside is even more magnificent. I know a couple years ago it underwent a terrible fire but I hope it's still a beauty to visit. It was truly a gem in a beautiful city.

Yelp
The medieval catholic cathedral is under construction but it will be way better when it is completed, as it was very, very old, the renovation was well needed. You can still admire the detailed historical structure of the building from the outside along with the monumental statue of Charlemagne and His Paladins, it's a beauty! We went early, purchased expresso and crepes from street vendors and had a nice time sitting in the bleachers set up there for people to admire the church, if you are a catholic like me, it is of much historical importance. It is too bad we were not able to admire some said historical artifacts inside: the Crown of Thornes, the tunic of Saint Louis, The Last Supper scene, St. Denis sculpture, the pieces of the True Cross, the Mays painting, the bronze statuaries, the grand organ, the large stained glass windows / rose windows, and the Marie Bell. I would have loved to see all of that, but I was just blessed to be there.

Yelp
Super sad of what had happened in April 2019. The roof caught on fire and was burnt. It would take at least 5 years to repair. Right now the entire Notre Dame is fenced off with barb wires and solid metal wall. So you can't really see much unless you are looking at it from a far distance. It is a beautiful architecture and from looking at it far away, you can see the details. I guess I will have to see it one day in the future when all the restoration work is completed.

Yelp
After the great fire, they're rebuilding this monument. Everything is taped off, with scaffolding everywhere. All you'll be seeing is the building from afar. Great if you've never seen Notre Dame, but the view from outside is so-so if you've seen it in all its glory.
google avatar

Yelp
It's the moment you pass by and you remember how beautiful it was. Nowadays is being refurbished, I'm sure it will look amazing again. Es el momento en que uno pasa por aquí y recordas que hermosa era. Hoy en día la están reconstruyendo, estoy segura que se vera increíble de nuevo.

Yelp
So sad to see this place in the state it is now. I was so glad that I saw it before the fire. Seems like if they converted a higher percentage of the tourism tax, they could rebuild. It will not be the same, but I bet it would be awesome to see. It will probably bring more people then before.

Yelp
While the Notre Dame is under construction from the fire Yelp will not allow us to check in....all that is left is the view and the charming town that surrounds it. Beautiful area, simple to get to via Metro. Lovely shops and restaurants adorn the Notre Dame. I really enjoyed our visit.

Yelp
I'm so grateful I had the opportunity to visit Norte Dame Cathedral prior to the devastating fire. Reminiscing of my many summer visits to see the amazing cathedral.

Yelp
This is just sad. Still cannot believe it happen. Still a beautiful site though I am sad I cannot walk around her walls and soak in the history and architecture.

Yelp
Even though the extent of the damage was apparent, I was still so thankful that this amazing cathedral is still standing and we got to view it during our trip to Paris. It's kind of amazing to me because if you walk up to the front of the building, it seems pretty much fine. But then when you get around the side, you can see the construction scaffolding and you can see how much of the building is really precariously hanging on. There are some really cool partitions with photos and information as you walk around the building that give you a good idea of the current state of things, next steps that need to be taken, etc. I'd highly recommend spending some time walking the entire perimeter and taking in the signs and information. There are obviously a lot of tourists in this area, and I will say it's one of the places where I was really mindful of keeping my purse close to me (you are constantly warned about pickpockets in all big tourist places in Paris). But we had a really nice time looking around and learning about the cathedral and the restoration effort. I'd also recommend spending some time walking around the surrounding blocks. We found a nice little cafe to take a pit stop and enjoyed the views, and there are vendors and artists lining the streets leading up to Notre Dame. Oh, and if you're there at Christmas time, there's a lovely little Christmas market right nearby that is also totally worth checking out.

Yelp
My son and I were in Paris only months after the fire. During our 14-day adventure we encountered the Cathedral several times and were fortunate to have captured amazing photos of from a luxury dinner cruise. Since we were unable to go inside I am only giving a 4 rating. Hope we can go inside on our next visit to Paris!

Gail S.

Yelp
Unfortunately this beautiful Cathedral had an awful fire right before Christmas. It has a gate all around so you can get just so close and you definitely can't go inside. But it's definitely worth seeing!!
