Nicely curated wine bar with a large wine selection. Service is very good! We only had an appetizer of crab cakes, but they were delicious. Will be back for lunch/dinner in the future. The wine was very good as well.

A special restaurant in Sandy Hook. Friends took me for dinner as it us one of their favorite places. It did not disappoint. From the moment we entered, the staff was attentive ,the dining room was lovely and the menu for wine, cocktails and food were easy to read. The drinks ,meals and service were excellent. The picture is a lentil dish with butternut squash coulis and pomegranate sauce. It was perfect. Dessert and delicious coffee finished our meal. We split a bannofee pie. So good.

Google
Foie Gras dish is not good, cut into small pieces and different shapes. Sauce looks like somebody already dug in. Our chicken was dry, pork chop cooked right. Overall, it's still a good one in town. We will still give them another chance.

We absolutely love this local restaurant. If you are in or around Newtown/Sandy Hook, be sure and check it out. The pork chop was absolutely delicious, and my wife really enjoyed the scallops. My daughter had the salmon with a curry, and it was wonderful. We tried the truffle deviled eggs, wow!!! Outstanding service and beautiful upscale New England feel with being stuffy inside the restaurant

Okay this has quickly become our favorite spot to dine in Newtown. Oh my gosh all of the food is so yummy. The staff being it to next level. They save your drink preferences in your system so they remember the wine you loved or the cocktail you’re probably going to order. That little extra step makes it so personal and intimate. For food, you have to order the steak skewers - OUT OF THIS WORLD. The focaccia bread is the best I’ve ever had, with the exception of a small deli I visited in Italy. The pasta dish is amazing. The pork chop wrapped in bacon is exceptional. The steak is outstanding. I don’t have a bad thing to say. Now please excuse me sheik I go make a reservation for this weekend!!

Google
A perfect place for an event. We rented out Antoinette's which is a separate building in the back. It comfortably fit 25 people - having two floors added a nice flow to the meal/activities. It was really nice to have the patio open as well! The food was phenomenal. I really mean it. Everybody was complimenting the space, with one guest noting that it was the "classiest" shower venue she's been to. Linda, our coordinator, went wayyyy above and beyond to make the event perfect. The bar/wait staff were also super attentive yet easygoing. Can't wait to come back for a regular date night dinner service!

I have nothing but good things to say about Nouveau Monde! We found out about this gem while looking for a location for our baby shower! And I’m so happy we chose them. Our party was last year, on October 16th. Our event planner , Lynda was just a delight to work with. The location is beautiful, the food is sensational - we did go again for dinner a couple times before and after the shower - and we could not stop talking about how good the food was! If you need a location for a baby shower, a bridal shower or any other small event, don’t hesitate to contact Nouveau Monde, and ask for Lynda! And if you are looking for a special place for a nice dinner, you are not going to regret coming here!

Google
A+ dining experience and A+ wheelchair accessibility. You won’t believe the honey truffle salmon! My only feedback would be to consider adding a more hearty vegan dish, the cauliflower was enjoyed by my husband although quite light. Thank you for a memorable evening!

Yelp
We love coming here. Definitely suggest making reservations before coming. If you can't find reservations online, call the restaurant, the staff was pleasant and helped to accommodate us. I'm sure they will gladly help you; if they can ofc. The staff is pleasant, professional, and always checked in on us. We were looking for a different wine than we normally have, they sent over the wine sommelier , we explained what we were looking for, and omg AMAZINGly delicious. At first we were scared but he nailed it! The food is delicious and I was pleased to see the GF options. We did have late reservations and the kitchen ran out of the chicken entree. But it was no big deal to us. The restaurant is a bit dark but it goes with their ambiance. They also have outdoor dining if you wish- but with CT summers I much prefer the A/C . I tried their flourless cake which is GF, it was creamy and delicious! My friend had the carrot cake, ate it all with no complaints lol. We will be back again. Their menu changes every season. Check online before going to make sure it pleases you. I will say their menu always sounds weirder than the food actually is. Don't let the fancy wording on the menu scare you off

Yelp
Went here for the first time tonight and was surprisingly not blown away like I assumed I'd be based off of what I've heard/been told. We ordered the deviled eggs and mushroom flatbread for an app. The deviled eggs were fine, definitely nothing special. The mushroom flatbread however, was INCREDIBLE. I probably should have just ordered another one instead of an entree. The drink I got was the mango en fuego and that also was very good. Now my entree and the service is where I felt let down the most. I ordered the ricotta cavatelli. Quite literally tasted like something I could have ordered at Olive Garden. For an expensive pasta dish, I expected way better flavors/something with more of a wow. The service was also an area I felt let down in. The waiter was quite lack luster, didn't seem like he wanted to be there and didn't give helpful recs when we asked about the menu items (his response was "everything is good"). I'd expect A LOT more from a $500 dinner. Definitely a bummer!

Deb G.

Yelp
Absolutely Amazing! We started with wine recommended by the in house sommelier, followed by a Brussel sprout salad with matchstick apples and mint, a scrumptious scallop dinner, and a light and airy lemon mascarpone dessert... all absolutely delicious!

Anika T.

Yelp
New to Newtown restaurant with an extensive wine list and sommelier on property. Parking is quite tight but there is another lot that you can park at. The restaurant is a conversion of an older house and the decor is very quaint and includes tray ceilings. The servers were kind but a bit unsure about menu questions. We had the Thai beef appetizer and the grilled octopus. The beef skewers were flavored very well and the meat was tender same for the octopus it had great flavor with a very robust red sauce. My one friend had the salmon that had a ginger and fresh herb seasoning, I had the pork chop with cheese grits. The pork chop was super juicy and cooked to perfection. I kept the hot honey on the side and enjoyed the pork chop and veggies by themselves. My third friend had the Parmesan crusted chicken which had nice flavor but was a bit tough. We tried two sweets the flourless chocolate cake and the sticky pudding both were very good and full of flavor They take credit card and reservations are hard to come by so be sure you schedule before arriving

Yelp
Stayed local for date night and were blown away by the accommodating staff, tasteful food, and warm ambiance of Nouveau Monde. Their wine list is near 50 pages long offering a wide variety. Nouveau Monde fell short of five stars for us due to the small size of some of the appetizers. The stuffed dates were incredibly unique but we wish we were given more than three to share between the two of us. We highly recommend the pork chop... it was served over the most delicious grits! Nouveau Monde is well worth the date night splurge. We will definitely be back for more special occasions!

Yelp
I love this spot in Sandy Hook. Found it a couple years ago and I am becoming a regular. The seating is comfortable and intimate, set in what seems to be an old house. Though they have refit the place perfectly, with a large bar area and just enough tables to accommodate without being too busy. The food is excellent. I have tried most of the menu, but tonight I had the pork chop. Wrapped in bacon, served with cheddar grits and Brussels. Cooked perfectly. The Thai beef skewers, crab cakes and baked Mac and cheese are excellent starters. And the carrot cake is one of my favorite desserts. Sorry for the mediocre picture. I always come here with family and I forget to get the good ones. I will definitely be back and will add some better pics. Definitely worth a visit!

Bryan M.

Yelp
I hate to be so critical, especially because I'm not from the area, but there are enough reviews here to even it out. My salmon entree was so good that it single-handedly salvaged the visit, but in all other respects the experience was underwhelming. The duck entree was forgettable. The desserts were unimpressive. The ambiance was just strange, as if Wayfair had opened a pop-up restaurant filled with closeout items. Our service was genuinely distracting, alternating between hyperactive and sullen depending on the staff. (I know staffing is especially difficult right now -- just try to tone it down!) In the middle of our meal we had a distant acquaintance stop by and rave that this was the best restaurant in Connecticut, so perhaps just a fluke that we had such an uneven experience. I wouldn't come back though.

Christina M.

Yelp
Nouveau Monde was an absolutely exquisite dining experience. A charming and elegant restaurant located in quaint Sandy Hook, NM is just an absolute gem. We were truly amazed by the attention to detail, the outstanding service, and the incredible cuisine. Our server explained to us the menu items as well as their extensive wine selection. We ordered some cocktails and an appetizer. Our cocktails were well made and we enjoyed them. Our appetizer was a smoked trout avocado salad. The salad was outstanding. Unlike anything we have had before as far as flavor profile and complexity and we absolutely loved every bite. For dinner, we ordered two great dishes - a Parmesan crusted chicken dish and a pork chop entree. Honestly all I can say is wow. Every bite. Just absolutely delicious and perfectly balanced. Of course with how our experience had gone thus dated we knew we wanted to have dessert. We ordered a slice of carrot cake to share and French pressed coffee. The carrot cake was delicious- perfectly moist, great balance of spices, and the cream cheese frosting was wonderful. I never drink black coffee but my husband encouraged me to try it. They source their coffee from a coffee shop called Shearwater. It was excellent and complimented the sweet carrot cake so well. We cannot say enough how much we enjoyed our experience at Nouveau Monde. It's an incredible restaurant and definitely worth visiting again and again. After dinner we checked out NM's speakeasy bar called Antoinette's. It is located directly behind NM. Definitely a must. Such a great concept, amazing vibe, loft type bar and so nicely designed. Bartender Gary was so cool! It was just a fabulous night.

Yelp
I was looking for a nice restaurant to celebrate my birthday and came across Nouveau Monde on Yelp and made a reservation. It seems to be an house renovated into a restaurant. It's cozy and well decorated - great ambiance and mood. The entrance is a bit confusing because there is no host station/waiting area. We arrived early and waited until our table was ready. The waitstaff was very nice, however, making sure we were comfortable while waiting. Drinks/wines seem to be their specialty - they had a sommelier available and also 3 menus full of wine. As far as dinner goes, we had two apps and three entrees to share. We had the shrimp&grits and lamb meatballs as apps, and pork chop, cavatelli, and chicken as our entree. Overall the food was good, I could tell it was made well with good ingredients. However, everything was so salty, which made it hard to eat without chugging some water. Our waitress was very attentive and replaced our plates/utensils several times and we got macarons as a complimentary dessert for my birthday. Overall it was a good experience - not sure if I'd return for the food alone but everything else made up for ir.

Neviana Z.

Yelp
We attended a wine pairing dinner. The food was exceptional! The wines were amazing. The staff was attentive. Best restaurant in Newtown and one of the best in the state!

Amber L.

Yelp
Delicious food, well seasoned, nothing over done. The vibe is upscale all day. I wish everyone dressed up more. If you want to, this is the place. The service was among the best I've had in the near Danbury area.would love to go often and try everything on the menu. The Aviation was light and semi sweet with a beautiful lavender glow. Portions are bigger than appear in my photos.

Erik S.

Yelp
Nouveau Monde offers a wonderfully unique food experience in a pleasantly relaxed and fun atmosphere (see the dog portrait photo). First and foremost, our server was very friendly, attentive and helpful while answering our various questions. The atmosphere is fun and relaxed but at the same time also refined and classy. All the appetizers were delicious my only critique would be offering 4 servings instead of 3, since it is easier to share that way. For example the baked oysters would be perfect at 4, even if it required a price increase. The Burrata cheese was glorious with thinly sliced nectarines to offset the richness of the cheese. I highly recommend the Shrimp & Grits, which was delicious but again a little more would have been perfect. The star of the show was a fabulous Pork Chop wrapped in Bacon, which was packed with flavor and beautifully tender. By far one of the best pork chops I have eaten. We also sampled the cocktails and desserts and they were all wonderful. Don't miss the opportunity for a great dining experience at Nouveau Monde!

Allison L.

Yelp
Love this place. Patio dining, great service and tasty food. To start with is the focaccia and it's perfectly crisp and well seasoned. Then we order the apps. Been here several time and can't wait for them to rotate menu so we can try more stuff. And love that you can get a reservation same day.

Anna G.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place last year while searching for dinner fairly late after work. I just returned again this past week and it was even better the second time. Enjoyed the mushroom bruschetta and lamb meatballs, which were my favorite, and had the ricotta cavatelli. BUT The limoncello cake is the real star of this place!!! By far the best dessert I've ever tried. I love the pots of coffee they give as well. The living room vibe is very cozy, however someone of the dining room seating is not the best for sitting and having a meal. I find the bar to be the most comfortable spot to sit and eat. Perfect spot for a date night or low key meal, and the waitstaff has always been so nice, efficient and accommodating! This place is on the pricier side, but def worth the price based on how good everything is! Don't hesitate to pop in.

Amanda W.

Yelp
What a perfect little restaurant! The atmosphere and ambience is unique for sandy Hook. We love it! Will be back many more times. Great food!!

Alyssa G.

Yelp
I really want to like this place. Gave it a few tries. The ambience is awesome. The staff is awesome. But the food is mediocre. I have yet to have anything amazing which is a real bummer. It's definitely not bad but it's not a place I'd bring people. Might be more of a wine and apps place for us because we do like the vibe of the restaurant. Last I was there I got the shrimp and grits which honestly tasted like it was just cooked in marinara sauce. It was upsetting for sure. We got the potato croquettes which were really just pricy mozzarella sticks. The price currently is not worth the food you get.

John M.

Yelp
Went for the first time last night and was beyond pleased with the experience. The food was phenomenal as were the drinks and the service was warm and friendly. A very cozy setting as well. Not loud at all and perfectly inviting. Cannot recommend this restaurant enough!

Alexandra A.

Yelp
In the heart of Sandy Hook, this chic restaurant fulfills your expectations. At first i got a sense of snobbiness from the waiter which was not quiet nice but luckily he changed his behavior quickly. Overall the service was very professional and up-skill. Food was served just right and the flavors were phenomenally well put together. From the swordfish to the steak on our table, everything was delightful! Great taste of France with a hint of American. I really wish they did not run out of the pork chop, which i really wanted to try but hopefully next time we get the chance. Would recommend and will visit again for another special occasion.

Lindsey S.

Yelp
We have been wanting to try this place but they had no availability the few times that we tried. Well I called today and they couldn't have been nicer when reserving the table. So let's get to the good stuff, let's talk food. The appetizers were AMAZING. We had the focaccia bread (must order), the Korean beef kabobs (omgggggc yum) and the shrimp grits. We both ordered steaks that came cooked to perfection. The mushrooms, the truffle mashed potatoes and the red wine reduction were a perfect complement to the steaks. The drinks were good, but unfortunately very light pours. We had a great night, we'll be back.

Lana L.

Yelp
My husband and I came here last night for our anniversary! Wow, I must say it was absolutely amazing! The ambiance is very romantic, and cozy. The service is outstanding! The host, took my jacket to hang it up. The waiter was very polite and attentive when needed. And the sommelier was excellent. We had the best Reisling recommendation. The food is cooked to perfection, melts in your mouth with every bite. The beef Korean skewers were so delicious. I had the swordfish, and it was delicious. First time tasting swordfish for me, I'm more of a salmon gal. The swordfish was melt in my mouth good! My husband had the NY strip which he stated was the best he's ever had. Needless to say, we will be back! We never knew this little gem was here, and I drive by it to work everyday.

AV S.

Yelp
Without doubt one of the BEST restaurants in Connecticut. Absolutely great food presented beautifully. With a very upscale and welcoming decor. Try the foie gras or the pheasant terriene to start. The wine list is amazing. If you like sophisticated dining this is a place you should try. We loved it and will go back.

Linda M.

Yelp
What a great find! We had dinner there last night for the first time and we were absolutely astounded. First, the atmosphere: elegant but cosy. The service was outstanding, attentive but not rushed. And finally the food: a menu that is creative and diverse. I was skeptical at first because I am not a big fan of French Cuisine but the choices are varied and represent different cultures. I had the Ricotta Cavatelli and, honestly it was one of the best dishes I have ever tasted. My husband had the Salmon Arrabbiata and he just raved about it. There is also a Speakeasy on the property with an impressive wine list and small plates. Sandy Hook is fast becoming a dining destination. Trust me, just go.

Atnier R.

Yelp
On our wedding anniversary date, we found that our usual restaurant for this celebration had been booked out for an event, so we quickly had to find a suitable substitute and we opted for trying out a new place, in nearby Sandy Hook. At first we were worried it would be too upscale and refined for us to fit in, but that was a fleeting doubt as we were graciously made welcome by the friendly staff as soon as we came in. The ambiance was intimate and romantic, the service was spotless, and the food was delicious (parmesan crusted chicken with mushrooms and risotto; pork chop with fancy grits/mash and sweet Brussels sprouts). Not being wine drinkers, we tried instead a Cosmo cocktail that was quite good as well. We were very happy that our unscheduled visit to this new place turned out to be an enchanting experience. We will definitely keep it in rotation for special occasions to come.

Neal D.

Yelp
Hey, a higher end restaurant in Newtown/Sandy Hook, go figure. We sat on their lovely porch last night with the service being professional/attentive. Had the duck mouse appetizer which came with a nice little salad, rustic grainy mustard and an assortment of pickles/olives. Quite good. The crab cake appetizer was really good, lightly fried and fresh as well (hard to find). The scallop entree was flavorful and perfectly cooked with really fresh corn, lox and light sauce. The desert was satisfactory (lemoncello cake). I had the Malbec and it was excellent, as it should be for a wine bar. Who knew?

TY Y.

Yelp
Cozy restaurant for a celebration dinner, so opted for this dining treat to mark another anniversary. They offer SO MANY wines by the glass, and Jeff, the Sommelier was super! Overall I rated this a 4.5+ experience for the warm and home-like atmosphere, fabulous wine selections, fresh and interesting house-made menu, food presentations including amazing desserts, and attentive service by staff! I'd also mention to expect a higher average price for dining; entrees range from ~$25-35, and if you add a salad or app starter plus drinks, the cost isn't inexpensive. But definitely a cool place for a business meal, wine connoisseur, HH (4-7p weekdays) or group event! FYI, they're open Wed-Mon. I really appreciated Jeff's understanding of wine and candor for taking care of his guests! While we searched the wide menu for a nice, reasonable Cab, his recommendation was perfect, which was excellent both in taste and value, thank you! Lots to choose on their menu. For starters, ordered the Melanzane, crispy eggplant with fresh Burrata, house roasted peppers, basil and balsamic, fantastic! The Wedge salad was very good, nice presentation. Wish I could've also tried their Clam Chowder, Mussels or Crab cake, sounded excellent! For entrees, tried their Duck special and Rockfish. Duck was very tender and mild, served with Peruvian roasted potatoes and braised Lentil mix - I thought the sides made the plate 'dark' and were OK, but I think a whipped potato side and colorful vegetables would've elevated the whole dish for me...but I'm just the customer not the chef. I thought the Rockfish was quite dry and heavily almond crusted. Perhaps it was not what I expected; so I suggest the Salmon or Scallops for seafood. The traditional Steaks probably would've made a good pairing for the red wine too. Finished the meal with the Banoffee pie and a French press coffee (so smooth!). Pie had an Oreo crust shell, layered with Dulce de leche, fresh bananas topped with whip cream and fresh strawberry, YUMMY! Heard they also serve Sunday brunch, so make a reservation if you plan to visit this fine eatery and wine bar. ENJOY!

Georgette R.

Yelp
Food was super good quality food. The flavors were nice too. The ciabatta bread with the olive oil was super delicious ( they charge for second helpings- just FYI) had a spicy margarita and it was yummy. Def going back here.

Ken S.

Yelp
Nouveau Monde was my pick for last year's birthday dinner, but somehow I didn't make it. But when it came time to pick this year's location for dinner with an old friend, it was the obvious choice. With lots of great reviews and what looked like a wonderful menu, I was ready for a nice night out. There's seating outside for drinks or dinner and several different options inside. We were seated at two armchairs at a table. It's a beautiful space inside with a bar, couches and more traditional table seating. I started off with the spinach salad, which was perfection! Seriously. Baby spinach salad was complemented by candied pecans, strawberry slices, and Danish bleu cheese. It's drizzled with balsamic vinegar, which brings all the flavors together to create an outstanding salad. My friend got the clam chowder, which features a twist with applewood bacon. For my entrée, I got the scallops, which were expertly cooked and served over couscous in a saffron garlic cream with roasted corn and spicy tomatoes. It all makes for another exceptional combination. I would definitely order this dish again! In fact, I kind of wish I could have it right now! My friend got the crab cake, which is more of the lump crabmeat style instead of the more common heavily breaded version. The blue crab cake is served with mixed greens and a remoulade. The dish is well-prepared and nicely presented. Dessert was a pleasing confection of Oreo cookie crust, dulce de leche, bananas, whipped cream, topped with a strawberry. The dish looks lovely on the plate. It wasn't too heavy and a great way to end a fantastic meal. We thought it might be fun to try a version with salted caramel or a bit of hazelnut. I'm very happy that Nouveau Monde was my choice for a birthday dinner. I think it's a perfect spot for a special occasion or just a nice night out. The food was wonderful, the service was spot-on, and the setting is gorgeous. Thanks to our dinner for a great experience!! One quick note is that the kitchen closes at 9, so plan accordingly. We got there just before 9 when we ran late and it was fine, but I would recommend arriving earlier. Bon appetit!

Casey S.

Yelp
Amazing, every time. This place boasts an amazing wine list and a in-house sommelier who knows the wines well and steers you to a gem each visit. Their cocktails are great too. Service is impeccable and the food is perfect, with a menu that changes often. Stay for a nightcap in their retro cocktail lounge, "Antoinette's"!

Madeline C.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I celebrated our anniversary here this past weekend and wow we were blown away by this place! When we say this is some of the best food we've ever had we're not joking. We got the Ricotta Cavatelli which we cannot say enough good things about, it had a butternut squash sauce in it which made the meal so cozy and tasty for fall. Along with homemade pasta and crunch bread crumbs it made for a perfect meal. We also got the Parmesan Crusted Chicken which was cooked to perfection, it was superrrr juicy and flavorful. The risotto was delicious and the mushrooms were a nice touch and both added a lot of flavor. We also got the crab cakes as an app but you can skip these go for one of their chef curated charcuterie and cheese boards! The ambiance here is top notch it's a small dining space so be sure to make a reservation and don't forget to stop by their speakeasy Antionette's after dinner.

B R.

Yelp
Bill the owner and chef is very, very talented! Love his cooking just amazing. What a treat every time we dine here. Just well balanced meals with flavors that compliment each other in such innovative ways. I feel this is one of the best restaurants in Fairfield county. Love the ambiance, location and service. If you haven't tried this place go and experience it, it's worth it! What a gem of a place.

D R.

Yelp
This is the first time going to this bar in back of Nouveau. Antoinette's bartender became very rude and unfriendly. We had one drink and left. You can do better Nouveau. Including the specialty cocktail he made had no taste (Orange Cream drink).

Mike M.

Yelp
Celebrated our anniversary on a Saturday night. Staff were professional and down to earth. The food was impeccable. This was our second visit this year and it's always nice to have your first experience topped by your second. Wish we lived closer because this would be our weekly go to spot for sure!

Pamela J.

Yelp
No clue whether Sandy Hook was a hoax or happened in another timeline, dimension or reality but do know this place rocks in whatever reality it is I'm enjoying a Chardonnay on the idyllic patio. Love the vibe, love the ambience, enjoy the sweetness that is the enclave of Sandy Hook. Everything I have dined on here has been fantastic as well. Easy highway access off I-84 to break up a drive too. I had given it 5 stars but downgraded after being only customer trapped in place without electric thanks to freak storm (probably happened as I called out timeline stuff earlier). My waitress was 5 stars but owner not welcoming. Personally, I'd be warmer to lone customer and figured it happened for a reason. Oh well... p.s. freak storm made me think about alleged Truman Show dome we may live in, but that's another story...

Jesus P.

Yelp
The food, service and drinks were all amazing! Our appetizers were scrumptious. Our waiter Larry did such a good job throughout our evening and the ambiance was also on point. I hihgly recommend this place to anyone looking to have a great dining experience. I will definitely return there !

Cramer O.

Yelp
I have been a long time customer and always have had excellent food and service. Unfortunately, early in April we had a disappointing dinner: my fish was overcooked and the other entree, crab cakes, was dry and not flavorful. I hope this was an isolated event. Probably give it another try later this year.

Trisha R.

Yelp
100% amazing food, cozy ambience, very customer service oriented. Best EXPRESSO MARTINI I ever had!

David B.

Yelp
Atmosphere 9 Wine list 8 Food 7 ( selection and complexity - but good ) Service 4 ( this is why it's 3 stars ) Took 5 minutes for anyone to say hello after sat and felt like 10 to get a drink order. Another for our drinks to arrive and the server asked us to order our food prior to our cocktails even being made. I had to get up 2x for a water refill. Burrata was very good. Milanese chicken good, duck sliced a bit too thick but crispy skinned , lobster pasta needs salt, complexity, maybe Romano or herbs. Has potential to be 4plus stars. Take some chances in the kitchen. In general, would return for a small plate and glass of wine when visiting family - Likely sit at the bar.

George H.

Yelp
We stopped by for brunch once, and found it excellent. We loved the decor, which was comfortable and like you were lounging in somebody's farm house or in the lounge of a large B&B in the countryside! The server and pace was also very unhurried and relaxing! And the food was excellent and filling. I would love to go back again. Just never managed to do so, and also because the options for vegetarians are so limited! A friend of mine told me, brunch is not a vegetarian friendly meal. I never thought of it that way, but it does seem to be so in the US. All the same, the food was delicious! And we enjoyed the bread basket immensely!

Lisa B.

Yelp
My husband took me to Noveau Monde for my birthday. The ambiance is fantastic. We had the short ribs and bolognese pasta dish. Both dishes were somewhat salty. The available wine list had many options.

Morgan V.

Yelp
The food and drink are fine but this place feels really pretentious. The prices are too high for what you're getting. While I was there, the bartender asked me to wait because he was overwhelmed - I asked for a rum and Coke.

Robert V.

Yelp
Stopped in for wine and apps and was pleasantly surprised. Jeffrey the sommelier was friendly, knowledgeable and guided us to some great selections. We had the charcuterie to go with our wine and the meats, cheese, nuts and fruit were a great compliment. We will be back soon.

katherine j.

Yelp
some of the best food in newtown! we highly recommend the house focaccia. it's served warm and has an amazing flavor. the parmesan crusted chicken is so perfectly savory, and the english peas were the best part! not pictured, but we also got the ricotta cavatelli. to die for!

Heather S.

Yelp
This may be the best little gem in the state. I don't know if the chef went to Hogwart's or not, but the food that emerges from the kitchen is magical. From the wine, to the ambience, to the perfectly prepared food, this restaurant checks every box. If you've ever been to Union League, Nouveau Monde will provide you a comparable experience without the pomp and circumstance (and the hassle of finding somewhere to park) and you'll leave with more food in your belly and money in your pocket. Absolutely phenomenal.

Seth R.

Yelp
Amazing wine--average apps and entrees. Really great wine selection and some incredible wines by the glass. Staff has little to no knowledge of wine or pairings which was a bit disappointing for a "wine bar" (the bartender did not know the term "varietal"). The charcuterie and cheese plate was dropped unceremoniously at our table and nobody could explain what the meats and cheeses were. The short rib empanadas were not seasoned and appeared to be baked--not fried or sautéed. The entrees were ok but, again, short on seasoning and both the chicken and steak were over cooked. The best part of the meal were the crab-cakes--cooked perfectly with just the right amount of heat and a delicate crunch. Come for a glass of wine and enjoy the amazing decor but head across the street to the Foundry for dinner!

Yelp
We went to Nouveau Monde January 2nd, 2022 for our first dinner of 2022. The ambiance is very nice, quiet and subdued. Jeffrey was attentive and more than helpful in describing the dishes, etc. All dishes, from the small plates (Burrata, Korean beef Skewers and duck pate), for the table (house focaccia is a must try) and larger plates (Halibut special and Angus Strip) were perfectly prepared and just the right size. Of course their wine selection is superlative (Grats on the Wine Spectator Award!!!) and we enjoyed a martini to whet the appetite (the Sandy Hook) and with the meal a nice 2014 Nuits Saint Georges, which one of the best wines we have had. This will become one of our go to places for either a meal or small plates with wine of course.

Yelp
Best I have had in a long time. Prix fixe was fantastic with the wine pairing. Best ribeye I have had. You will not be disappointed. It is difficult to keep a restaurant going during Covid, congratulations to the staff for working hard for our dining experience.

Yelp
Great ambience and decor. Food options very limited and portions very small. Odd menu.

Yelp
Perfect. Food was amazing. Service fantastic. Setting terrific. I can't recall the last time I gave a five star review and this place deserves it. Highly recommend.

Yelp
had a reservation for 5:15 because was told no availability earlier. Credit card information was taken when making the reservation and I was informed I would be charged if I didn't come in by then! As if this was a luxury hotel! The place had absolutely no other patrons! We were told we could not sit outside because they were so busy. Again, no patrons for at least another hour. When it became clear we were to leave, suddenly "a large party cancelled" and we were allowed to move outside. The food was average and over-priced. Only a handful of patrons came in before 7 pm. Then we were told we would need to leave by 7:30. When I was about to send the dessert back because I would not be able to eat it by then, suddenly we could stay till 8. There had been no mention that the reservation would only be for a set period of time! This whole experience left a very bad taste!
