7 Best Affordable Hotels in Venice, Italy, for 2025 Stays | Condé Nast Traveler

"As Hotel Flora’s smaller sister hotel—with just nine rooms—Novecento makes guests feel at home. While rooms are small, the communal spaces, such as the cozy living room with a mini bar, are decked in antique furniture and decorative items collected from the family’s own travels to Morocco. The spaces encourage gathering, offering guests a rare space to get lost in the pages of books plucked from the hotel’s library or wind down in the evening with a round of board games." - Monica Mendal

24 Best Hotels in Venice, Italy

"There’s an embracing feel to Novecento, a lovely little boutique hotel. No distance at all from the crowded main artery leading to Piazza San Marco, it’s hushed and welcoming, and it makes you feel slightly conspiratorial, as if you're in on some huge secrets. With a beautiful blend of international furniture, warm, earthy colors, rich fabrics, gentle lighting, and overall cocoon-like feeling, you won't mind even the slightly small rooms. This is a special place that will make you feel that you’ve spent your money well." - Sarah James, Anne Hanley

Novecento Boutique Hotel

"Why did this hotel catch your attention? What's the vibe? There’s an embracing feel to Novecento, a lovely little boutique hotel. No distance at all from the crowded main artery leading to Piazza San Marco, it’s hushed and welcoming, and it makes you feel slightly conspiratorial, as if you're in on some huge secrets. What's the backstory? Part of a small group owned by the Venetian Romanelli family, Novecento is the sister to Hotel Flora, a charming, old-school classic, and the superb Casa Flora rental property. Both are nearby. Tell us all about the accommodations. Any tips on what to book? Some rooms aren’t large and others are spacious; some (but not all) of the bathrooms are cramped. With a beautiful blend of international furniture, warm, earthy colors, rich fabrics, gentle lighting, and overall cocoon-like feeling, you won't mind even the slightly small rooms. Is there a charge for Wi-Fi? The free wi-fi is generally fine. Drinking and dining—what are we looking at? Fresh fruit, pastries straight from the bakery, eggs to order, and really good coffee: breakfast at the Novecento is simple but excellent. It’s served in the living room or in the gorgeous, plant-filled little courtyard. And the service? So friendly and helpful. Novecento’s staff is never intrusive but always available when you need a hand. What type of travelers will you find here? Returnees make up a large part of the Novecento’s clientele; guests love it so much they can’t wait to make their next booking. What about the neighborhood? Does the hotel fit in, make itself part of the scene? You’re right by the Accademia-St. Mark’s route here, but you won’t notice the bustle from this quiet bolthole. Is there anything you'd change? Some bathrooms are very small. Any other hotel features worth noting? Small it may be, but the Novecento has much to make your stay memorable. In the lovely downstairs living room, with its glowing colors and fireplace, there are board games, books, nibbles, and an honesty bar. But it’s the courtyard that's truly special: a gorgeous green niche for escaping Venice’s crowds. Bottom line: Worth it? Why? This is a special place that will make you feel that you’ve spent your money well." - Anne Hanley

Novecento Boutique Hotel, Venice - Explore & Book

"Tucked down a quiet little walkaway, just off the main thoroughfare to the Piazza San Marco, the Novecento is a sweet surprise. Despite its prime position near the Grand Canal, it strays from Venetian convention by being an originally-designed, oriental-inspired and relatively inexpensive little boutique hotel. Owned by the charming and enthusiastic Romanelli family, and decorated with fabrics, fittings and furniture that they discovered on their travels to Morocco, Pakistan and Asia, it’s become a haven for those seeking the ever-so-slightly bohemian side of Venice. The unusual lamps, richly coloured designer silks and tapestries, rag-rolled walls, high, beamed ceilings and lead-paned, stained-glass windows all lend a lovely soft look to both the guest rooms and the expansive lounges, making for an intimate and homely atmosphere. That said, the team pride themselves on giving exceptional service and will bend over backwards to help you make the most of your stay in Italy's most iconic city. Highs Unique and stylish with beautiful, eclectic décor, reminiscent of Arabian souks and medieval boudoirsA prime location just a short walk from the famous Piazza San Marco, yet so tucked away that there's not a note of street noise Lovely lounge areas where you can examine carefully selected artworks and books, and chat comfortably with other guests The friendliness, charm and helpfulness of the staff; owners Gioele and Heiby are often around and are full of recommendationsThe huge breakfast buffet and sunny little pink-and-green courtyard garden where you can enjoy it Lows Staff aren't on site after 4pm, but are reachable a 3-minute walk away at their sister hotel and via WhatsappThe rooms aren’t large and there are only jacket-length hanging spaces in the wardrobesSome guests may find the lighting in the rooms a little dim, though the white linen lends an airy feelThe mosquitoes may foil the vaporizers and air conditioning in the summer monthsAs is the norm in converted original buildings, there is no lift, but assistance with luggage is provided" - Cathy Teesdale

My two friends and I stayed at Novecento for five days while celebrating our 35th birthdays in Venice, and I can honestly say this was one of the best hotel experiences we’ve ever had. Every morning felt so special, they provided fresh bread, yogurt, and then made us warm, fresh eggs to order. The bread and eggs were great, and the coffee was made fresh just the way we liked it every day. It felt like being taken care of by family rather than staying at a hotel. What truly made this place unforgettable, though, was the staff. Every single person we interacted with was kind, warm, and genuinely caring. They went above and beyond to make us feel special for our birthday. Novecento is cozy, beautiful, peaceful, and filled with heart. If you’re looking for a boutique hotel experience that feels personal, thoughtful, and unforgettable, this is it. We will carry this stay with us forever and would return in a heartbeat. For logistics, it’s also easy to walk everywhere or take the vaporetto (water bus). On our first day, we took the water bus there and walked to the hotel. When we left, we treated ourselves to a private water taxi. It was literally just 2 min walk from the hotel for the taxi. The hotel helped us set it up.

Our family stayed at Novecento in two rooms, and the entire experience was absolutely wonderful. From the moment we arrived, it felt like coming home each day. The hotel is small, beautifully decorated, and filled with artistic touches that make it truly special.||Breakfast was delicious, and the staff went out of their way to help us plan activities and recommend excellent local restaurants. We especially loved the cozy open area — perfect for relaxing after a busy day of sightseeing — and the amazing cookies that my daughters couldn’t resist (they went back for seconds… and thirds!).||It was lovely to support such a warm, locally run hotel. We’ll definitely stay here again the next time we’re in Venice!

We loved our stay at this hotel. The location is SO convenient - not far from a water taxi stand, the Piazza San Marco, Accademia Bridge, etc. It's truly a boutique experience with a lovely breakfast in the morning. The staff is incredibly thoughtful and caring - we went to the sister hotel for drinks one night, and that was also a lovely experience. The only, small con was that the shower was tiny, but workable for a few nights.

The Novecento Boutique Hotel was quaint, clean, and comfortable. The hotel staff was friendly, helpful and kind. The breakfast was varied and met our needs (the croissants were heavenly). The bed was comfortable, and the room was very clean. Our host (the Romanelli family) made us feel like part of their family. Thank you for a wonderful travel experience.

Simply amazing! The staff are very friendly, personable, and helpful and went out of their way for us. The location is in a quiet part of town but not far from the sights, and a short walk to a water taxi stop. Hotel is quaint and charming, with an authentic Venician feel. Breakfast was very good, the perfect amount, and was nice to eat outside in the small courtyard. Will definitely return one day.

The hotel is simply stunning! You can feel the care and charm in every little detail, which makes this place truly special. The cleanliness is impeccable, everywhere is brilliantly arranged and well-kept.|It is a small hotel, only nine rooms, but that makes you feel at home.|Nicoletta was exceptionally kind and helpful, she responded to all our requests immediately and really did everything to make our stay unforgettable. She provided us with useful advice.|The breakfast is varied and delicious, everyone can find something to their liking. I have been to many boutique hotels, but this is by far the best! I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a truly special, welcoming place in the heart of the city, close to St. Mark's Square.

This gem is small but perfectly formed. From the second we arrived, the staff were so helpful we instantly felt at home. The breakfast was really lovely as you are served a selection of continental items to your table. A nice touch is complimentary coffee and water in the dining area as the hotel is unmanned in the evenings. Our room was lovely and very comfortable with all manner of high quality ortigia toiletries provided. The rooms are not huge so we appreciated the lounge area on the 2nd floor outside our room. It's located on a quiet street between accademia and St Mark's so well placed to get to all main sites inc Rialto and walk across the bridge to the Dorsoduro area. Overall, we had a fab time and the staff could not have been more accommodating. Would definitely recommend.
