Novena

I was here today (17 DECEMBER 2025) arriving from Newton MRT Station, after alighting thereat via the Downtown Line from Hillview Station. I live in the Hillview area and this MRT Station is a very convenient one for me to alight at, to go to my two adjacent to each other favourite shopping malls of Velocity @ Novena Square and Square 2 @ Novena. And while this MRT Station is quite an old one, it is well maintained and the ambience therein is comfortable in that it is well ventilated.

Underground MRT station on the North-South (Red) line near the Central area, served by three nearby malls. Most amenities can be found in the nearby malls, and the station itself has a Cheers on the same floor as the control station.

Mrt station

As a tourist, i can't find any dustbin here in the platform nor any of the station itself. Dustbin seems like never appear in most of the station. It is so inconvenient for us to "free" our hand, especially when we have some trash / a cup of drink that wasn't allowed to bring along and we have got no place to throw away. This is just a simple facilities yet so hard for Singapore government to provide, will you allow us to throw on the floor ?!!!!🙄 Next, there is no public facilities like toilet in the transit itself, so if you are travelling for far distance, make sure you empty your bladder before get yourself onboard. Singapore is a developed nation, with world class public transportation and punctuality on public transportation, however, there is still a medium for improvement.

They should upgrade novena because there is a hospital near novena and so many old people so crowded when unboard the train i take train to go school sometimes and these new aircons that made in 2025 are useless i live here tho but the mall makes it worse for me because it take more space bbut im moving near blk so i hope they upgrade it still.

Very convenient and well connected train station, bringing you underground from Novena Square to United Square and all around. It's also very well staffed, and there's a 7-Eleven right by the station entrance underground. There are also bank ATM machines across all major Singaporean banks, which thoroughly helps if you're in need of money.

Functional and vibrant mrt station though small and usually crowded!! May I suggest installing a seat next to charging kiosk at entrance of Square 2. Please do consider as standing straight for about one half to two hours waiting for full charging, is really difficult and sometimes painful!! Also consider seats for the rest of available charging kiosks in other mrt stations under same management. Thank you

Went up 3 times from train platform to tell station personnel make announcement for passengers to move in to middle of car. They didn't do so and left passengers waiting for many trains to pass without boarding, but middle of car still have room. They are not doing their part and duty.

Ah, my home MRT station (for now.) The underpass here conveniently connects Tan Tock Seng Hospital all the way to United Square. Along the way you can access Square 2 and Velocity mall as well. The station itself is clean and well-maintained. (Then again, because of the crazy fines for eating and drinking in the MRT, I think most of the stations on the island are like this anyway.) A note about the underpass between Square 2 and Tan Tock Seng Hospital: sometimes during the weekdays there are people with clipboards trying to sell you things (I think it's financial advice or insurance) so if you hate being solicited I suggest escaping through the basement food court or Harvey Norman in Square 2!

Nothing too special at my home MRT station. As they say, it just "gets the job done." My only complaints are as follows: (i) the escalator on the hospital side, always seems to be in repair... if one of them is in repair, SMRT please have the operational one go up EVEN if it is on the wrong side. It's ok, I assure you SMRT, you are not breaking any rules, in fact it will help the senior citizens tremendously (ii) the elevator smells, (iii) occasional insurance/financial brokers line the tunnels trying to sell you financial products which they know nothing about. If you are lucky to enter the MRT station from the hospital side in the morning, you will come across a guitarist who sings religious and/or well-known oldies, but goodies. I wouldn't say I'm a huge fan, but he always leaves some food for thought for each passerby.

Not bad for a MRT stop, it is close to a hospital which means it is okay to use if you are not feeling well.

Close location to the hotel I stayed. Use the EZ link card for easy daily use if the trains.
