Where to Stay in Brisbane When You Visit (Updated 2025)

"In South Bank I describe Novotel Brisbane South Bank as a sleek midrange hotel offering an outdoor pool, fitness center and restaurant with a breakfast buffet; spacious modern rooms with seating areas, flat-screen TVs, open-plan bathrooms and electric kettles." - Matthew Kepnes

The 6 Best Hotels in Brisbane (Updated 2025)

"Nestled in the vibrant heart of the South Bank district, this four-star hotel impressed me with its sleek, modern design and chic contemporary décor. It's a large property with an outdoor swimming pool, fitness center, and an on-site restaurant that serves a delicious breakfast buffet. The rooms are spacious with comfy beds and plush duvets, seating areas, smart TVs, desks, and most bathrooms are large with an open-plan design. Overall, I think it's a great choice for those seeking a stylish stay in the heart of the city." - Matthew Kepnes

We travelled to Brisbane to attend a conference at the Brisbane Conference and Exhibition Centre in South Bank, for which the Novotel is ideally situated, three minutes walk away. The hotel staff were welcoming and informative, and the corner suite we occupied truly excellent. Importantly, the bathroom was well designed, safe, clean and fully equipped. Room lighting was far better than in many quality hotels, and switches intelligently placed. The mattress was a little softer than we prefer but the pillows were excellent. External noise was minimal, while the well-fitted door provided effective reduction of internal noise. Room cleaning staff were efficient and flexible with service times as we required. Breakfast offered a wide range of options, including some dishes available on demand. Our only disappointment was dinner at the in-house restaurant, where we found only a few dishes that appealed to our taste. Of course, others might have a wider spectrum of food preferences. Apart from the conference centre and the delights if South Bank, it is a short walk across the bridge to the CBD. |There is no doubt that we will choose the Novotel South Bank on future visits.

Such a great location, close to everything. Highly recommend for friends getaways & family vacations. I can only speak highly of the kitchen & restaurant staff. They are so friendly, with great attention to detail & communication, both dinner & breakfast were amazing and offering a nice variety. A huge special 5☆ goes for the brekky buffet, the variety & quality!

Such a reliable hotel that is so close to the action, yet far enough away to avoid feeling crowded. Have stayed 4 times and is always a great choice. I’ve always loved the set up of the room and the decor. The rooms are always clean and a great size. The only thing that gets me every time is that the curtains don’t cover the entire window and the light coming through that small line on the edge in the morning always wakes us up. Still, a great place to stay and we’ll keep coming back.

Had a good experience at this hotel. It's still looking very new so everything is modern and clean. I liked the lobby area and bar, was a nice place to start the evening with our welcome drink. Breakfast was the expected buffet.||Room was an average size, quiet, comfortable, with expected amenities and functions. Not generally a fan of "open-plan" bathrooms but at least you could close the sliding doors!||Gold upgrade to a city view room, with a bottle of wine, which I was glad of because the park view includes homeless people's tents. Not the hotel's fault of course but it would be unfortunate to be contemplating the state of the world from your window view while on vacation.||Quiet location a couple of blocks back from the main South Bank action.|It has a small pool and gym which I didn't get time to try this time.|Staff were all pleasant and helpful.||Can recommend as it's reasonable value for the quality - get a city view room though.

She was incredibly helpful, courteous, and professional—nothing was too much trouble. Katie’s warm approach and genuine care made us feel so welcome, and it’s clear she is a real asset to the team. Her exceptional service truly enhanced our stay. Highly recommend!

I booked for check in on Monday 18th and out on Thursday 21st August 2025. My arrival time was the morning of Tuesday 19th due to flight connections from Chile, South America. I did this so as to have a room available upon my arrival to shower and prepare for a conference which started on Tuesday morning. This is following more than 24 hours of travelling. Upon arrival I was informed that my booking had been cancelled due to no show on Monday 18th. An email had been sent informing me of this which wouold have received an out of office auto reply stating that email would be checked only intermittently during this time. When I reached the hotel I was told that my booking could be reinstated but that this would take time. I was offered coffee and water as told to wait in the reception. After some 20-30 minutes I was given a room into which I went and prepared for my next engagement and left the hotel. Please note that the room was a disabled access room which was not acceptable. I refuse to pay $450/night for a bathroom with a tiny vanity and a shower curtain. The entire floor became wet and slippery. I attended my engagement and returned to the hotel and checked out. The alternative hotel, not more that 1km from Novotel was perfectly presented and was $265/night.

The location and staff are lovely.|Close to the Convention Centre with a five minute walk. Perfect for conferences and events.||However two nights with faulty air con, including one of the staff saying it’s their eco-friendly way of working before finally being moved to a different room on day three which was great and worked perfectly!||There is a definite problem when the fridge door mists up overnight with condensation on the outside and the room either very cold or very hot: nothing in between.||One day of excellence, then the day before departure, the room wasn’t serviced.|Staff were apologetic, and most of the reception staff were lovely (especially those in training) but when paying a premium for a Junior N Suite, it was very disappponting.
