Most Cusco hotels are overpriced for what they offer. So we decided to only consider Accor properties as I was Platinum back then. The hope was to get an elevated experience due to our status. Little did we know that it would count for nothing. In fact, this was the only Accor branded property. As we were celebrating anniversary I tried to get in touch with the hotel. On emailing both nely.quispe@accor.com and glenny.torre@accor.com (the latter suggested by Pullman Lima Miraflores) I couldn't elicit a reply. They simply didn't care.||||We had booked for a room with a standard double bed and a sofa bed. We reached the hotel a bit early (at 1:30 PM) compared to their check-in time. It was Jimena then at the reception. Without an iota of smile or utterance of any welcome she took our passports and announced that our room is ready for an "early check-in". When I asked if we got an upgrade, she acted not to have heard me. We soon figured out that this was a "downgrade" as our room neither had the sofa bed nor any views. When asked for a slightly late check-out, she said it can't be confirmed. When asked if we get breakfast she answered in the negative. Now I had to say a bit louder about my Platinum status. Suddenly, a late check-out was given as was complimentary breakfast for two.||||After this not so platinum experience, we proceeded toward our room which was in the new wing. It was a rather small loft room. The bed took up almost all the space, which was only semi-comfortable. There were two small racks jutting out on both sides which barely fitted a landline phone. The wardrobe was open with a few drawers. The TV was of the vintage type that we never dared to switch on. The cramped bathroom had a very noisy fan. There were hardly any amenities, for example, they didn't have disposable toothbrush or shower gel. There was no coffee machine either but just a kettle. A minibar was located below this. A rather small writing desk barely fitted the space next to the minibar. There was no window in the room. Rather there was a door leading to a small terrace like space and the only thing visible from here apart from the sky and some mountain parts was the JW Marriott next door! In fact, I had a stronger Wifi signal from JWM than Novotel. This was by far the worst room we had stayed in a long time as an Accor Platinum. Just two 250ml still water bottles were complimentary and the next day when we were at Machu Picchu they conveniently forgot to replace fresh bottles. There was no welcome amenity in the room and of course they didn't know that we were celebrating something.||||On the day of our trip they packed a reasonable breakfast. The actual breakfast was pathetic. It would have been perhaps better if we didn't have free access to it. Both of us ordered the same omelette with sausage. This was prepared at the same time, cut unevenly (and so one of us got a bigger portion), then randomly folded and served. Nothing else in the spread was worth eating although we tried our best. It was full of people part of big tour groups.||||The best bit of the property was the grand lobby area which was of course from a different era. They also had this water refill counter that was nice to have. Unexpectedly at check-out, Alex was a gem of a person considering the other hotel staff. He even gave us physical drink coupons since those were not showing up in the app and we didn't have the time to use them during our stay. It was a different matter altogether that the Pisco we had at their bar was possibly the worse one during our entire Peru trip!
