Novotel Lausanne Bussigny

After a long day of travel we arrived in our hotel super hungry. Place is located 25 minutes (a bus ride) from the city center. It is less expensive than the city center area. There is a great view of Lake Geneva from the hilltop during our walks. Be mindful of the incline walking to the hotel. Hotel is located by a bus stop. The place was neat. The front desk staff was nice. There is a restaurant with great food. They accommodated us and allowed us to order and eat you arriving 10 mins before closing. We explained we were extremely hungry from our train travel.

Staff is great, from front desk to bartender. Common areas are modern and well maintained. Lobby/bar/restaurant/outside seating are very well done and inviting. They really ought to spend a few of those francs on the rooms, however. Uncomfortable beds, rock hard pillows, faulty plumbing in sink and shower, flimsy towels. Also, they have an large security deposit for some reason - must be a doozy of a story behind that policy. Such changes would take this from a borderline 3 star to a solid 4 star hotel.

If you've stayed at a Novotel before you know what you get here too. Large family rooms with kitchenette, excellent shower, horribly small separate toilet booth. What stood out at this one is that it offered dinner service in their restaurent which turned out to serve surprisingly good food, but also pretty expensive. We had their Novotel Burger which was quite a treat with a very special, and tasty "bread". Since the hotel is located in an industrial area your other option for dinner is to take the bus to the town center. Free bus tickets is handed out in the reception. Breakfast at the hotel was very nice - at a pretty steep price - but in Novotel style free for children aged 16 and under.

Very good hotel. Prices are really ok for the hotel quality. Bit far from the city if you don't have a car.

Unfortunately, this was the hotel of choice for our Cosmos tour. The hotel is fine, but it is in an industrial park about 25 minutes by bus from the city center. And there are no other options for meals other than the (very) expensive, low-quality restaurant unless you have individual transportation. Service is not very good. I will be taking this up with the Cosmos company.
