Where to Stay in Paris (Updated 2025)

"I appreciated this comfortable, business-style chain hotel for its modern bright rooms, large walk-in showers, memory foam mattresses, and the free coffee and tea; it’s family-friendly (staff even make balloon animals for kids)." - Matthew Kepnes

I was happy to stay at this hotel, as previously I had stayed at a Novotel in Cergy in Paris. I would describe this one as adequate rather than amazing.|First the good points.|Staff charming and unswervingly helpful. |Check in and check out was smooth and efficient.|Room well appointed and comfortable. Best part of the room was the bed. I slept like the proverbial log.|Reasonably well located. We found a bus rank around the corner which served the main areas. Tip is to get a NAVIGO card. Available at any metro station. |The noise levels were normal. |Breakfast was decent. One cool point was you could fry your own eggs or omelette. Normally when I go to such places the fried eggs are like rubber.|Bar had a decent selection of both soft and alcoholic drinks.|Now for the bad bits.|It is in a bit of a run down area. We saw lots of boarded up buildings and numerous people sleeping rough. |Don't bother with the evening meal there. Very poor selection. Not what you expect from the French.|View from the room was of a series of tower blocks.|Prices quite steep. But this is Paris.|While adequate, if I return to Paris I will pay more and stay in a better place.

Room was large, modern and clean. Water pressure is very low, had problems flushing the toilet. Breakfast was good quality, but it would be better if chef can fry some eggs, warm the waffles and pancakes so we can choose these instead of the waiting for everyone to fry their own eggs or wait in long queues for the waffle maker. There were some cobwebs in the breakfast area. The hotel was a bit difficult to find, a good walk but not too far. All staff were welcoming and friendly.

All the staff were friendly & helpful. Gabriel at reception looked after us so well, lovely young man. We had great service from the breakfast staff especially Maria & Mondjomo. The evening restaurant staff were wonderful (sorry I don’t remember their names) excellent service. The rooms were clean & well serviced & the beds were super comfortable. Easy access to the Gare & we felt safe walking in the area.

Lovely clean hotel with a great choice at breakfast. The hotel is very close to the train station which was convenient when using the rail and metro. Our room appeared to be recently renovated and had a coffee machine. There is access to filtered and sparkling water on each floor which was really useful. All staff that we spoke to were helpful and polite.

Very nice hotel at walking distance from the city center, just 20-30min of walk through beautiful Paris. The personnel is very kind, especially Maria from the buffet - she was of great help and we enjoyed the stay at the hotel. Thank you Maria and everyone at Novotel Montparnas!

Overall, Novotel was a good hotel. The staff were excellent – professional, welcoming, and attentive. The check-in and check-out process was seamless, and the location was very convenient, especially with easy access to public transportation.||That said, the cleanliness of the rooms needs improvement. The bathroom showers had visible black mold, which suggests an underlying issue that hasn’t been addressed for some time. The bathroom sink is missing a drain plug- no one wants to brush their teeth staring down a drain. Additionally, the carpets in the rooms were dirty. While carpet can add comfort, I don’t think it’s practical in high-traffic hotel areas since it becomes dirty quickly and is difficult to maintain.||If the hotel can address these cleanliness concerns, it would significantly elevate the overall guest experience.

What an experience. We have stayed in numerous Novatel/Accor chain hotels and as such expected a certain level of comfort. We stayed here for 6 nights with Paris temperature around 32-35 degrees c - with no working aircon ! They didn't say anything on check-in and we initially figured it was the room have been closed up for a few days. But, the fan just cycled warm air. The staff repeatedly changed the story as to when it would be fixed and what the issue was. We found out the ac had been broken for at least 5 days prior to us arriving. On reading other reviews this is not uncommon for this hotel, for whatever reason (broken/turned off). Some staff were polite, others were plain rude about it. (we were also told - just open the windows. Yeah its 35 degrees out side!)|The fridge in the room is not a real fridge it is a cooler and the first one didn't work at all (had to beg for it to be changed over), and the 2nd cooled slightly after about 24 hours. The bar did give us ice on request - not sure if this is only because the ac was broken or if this is normal.|Each level has water coolers which are awesome and cold.|Location is pretty good -close to train station, and if you walk in the direction of the Eiffel Tower there are patisseries and restaurants that are pretty good.|I could not recommend this hotel, as it tarnished our stay in Paris.

Good location but the air-conditioning was not functioning, seems it had not been for a while. Would have been great if the hotel provided fans but non were available despite this being a recurring issue based on online reviews I've read. We were offered free breakfast to compensate but we opted to get the parking waived instead. Unfortunate that no amenities such as glasses, ice or wine bottle openers were available. Bring your own water bottles and drinking glasses if you opt to go here, apparently it's part of their save the planet initiative to have only paper cups in the rooms. At least the location was great to easily get around.
