Novotel Ulaanbaatar

Great hotel—if you enjoy surprise “room service” for your belongings. Today I came back to my room to find my personal items had been removed and relocated without my consent because the hotel decided my booking status was “unclear.” Some of my belongings were even left behind, i.e., effectively misplaced. Front desk response was a masterclass in vague excuses: no real apology, no compensation—just “we can let you access the room where your stuff is now.” Also: bland, repetitive breakfast and room details that look oddly sloppy for a Novotel (awkward TV setup, crooked HVAC hardware). Not a place I’d trust with my things.

Excellent hotel in the heart of Ulaanbaatar! Novotel Ulaanbaatar is perfectly located right in the city center, within walking distance of major attractions such as [insert a couple of landmarks if you wish — e.g. Sukhbaatar Square, Government Palace, and the National Museum]. The rooms are very spacious, clean, and comfortable, with soft beds and all the essentials you might need. The fitness center is modern and well-equipped, and the SPA offers truly professional massages — highly recommended after a long day of exploring the city. Breakfast fully meets international standards: a great variety of dishes, fresh vegetables, eggs, and excellent coffee. The front desk staff are friendly and always ready to help — they even helped me find a wonderful guide named Tom, who organized a great trip to the Genghis Khan statue. There is also a convenient currency exchange service (USD, RUB, etc.) right at the hotel. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Ulaanbaatar — a perfect place to stay for both leisure and business travelers!

Whilst the room and general facilities were good, the quality of service and appreciation of 'the customer' was beyond appalling. For the restaurant to run out of yogurt half way through breakfast is not acceptable; for there to be no coffee available at 22.00hrs in the lobby bar, is not acceptable; for there to be no manager or duty manger available after 18.00hrs is not acceptable; for ACCOR the owner of Novotel to ignore my emails and fail to respond, even though I emailed their CEO M. Bazin is a clear illustration of cause and effect. The CEO ignores customer service and that is then reflected at the operational level!

I had the pleasure of staying here based on a recommendation, and it truly lived up to expectations. The service was excellent – the staff were experienced, friendly, and helpful at all times. The hotel was spotlessly clean, and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. The on-site restaurants were also impressive, offering a wide variety of dishes, wines, and cocktails. Finally, the location is perfect for exploring the city – everything is within easy reach. Highly recommended!

Had one night in Ulaan Bataar which was probably enough time 😂 but the hotel seems to be fine. They even made me a breakfast box to carry it to the airport, organized my transfer to the airport and the manager who was there this morning was very friendly! Rooms are spacious and warm!

The room itself is fine though there was no heating. They have to bring in a portable heater and you have to call many times to get their attentions. The front desk information is conflicting and unfriendly. The service is very poor overall. This has to be the worst Novotel I stay and definitely not 5-star

The hotel really made my trip memorable. The staff were kind and always ready to assist, making me feel at home. My room was clean, bright, and had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. I will gladly recommend this hotel to friends and family!

We had dinner with our family at Food Exchange on October 18, 2025, and unfortunately had an unpleasant experience with one of the staff members named Otgontugs. When we arrived, the general manager kindly seated us, but the staff member suddenly claimed we were at the wrong table and tried to move us, which felt unnecessary. Later, although the manager had said our two-hour dining time would start from the moment we signed in, she insisted that our time had already ended 20 minutes early. When we checked, the manager apologized for the misunderstanding. However, when we politely asked the staff member to acknowledge her mistake, she ignored us completely, picked up her phone, and started talking to someone else. Her attitude was very disrespectful and unprofessional for someone working in a 5-star hotel restaurant. It’s disappointing to see this kind of behavior in such a reputable place that represents international hospitality standards.
