Novotel Wollongong Northbeach

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Outstanding Experience Thanks to Mae at Novotel Hotels Our experience at the Novotel in Australia was nothing short of incredible, and it all started with Mae, who truly went above and beyond in every way. We had just discovered—late in the day—that our VRBO had no air conditioning and no window screens, right in the middle of a summer heat wave near the beach. With multiple families traveling together, I walked down to the Novotel that evening honestly expecting the odds to be stacked against us. I wasn’t sure we could afford it, wasn’t sure they would even have availability, and definitely didn’t think we’d find two rooms on the same floor. Mae took the time to calmly walk me through every option, explain the process, and advocate for us in a way that felt far beyond what her normal duties likely require. Thanks to her incredible effort, we secured our rooms and were checked in by 10:30 that night—a huge relief after an extremely stressful situation. The following four days were absolutely fantastic. The beds were comfortable, the amenities were plentiful, and the location simply couldn’t be better. Beach access, swimming, restaurants, clubs, nightlife—everything you’d want is within easy walking distance of the hotel. We will 100% be staying here again. If you’re considering booking this hotel, do it—you won’t regret it. And if Mae helps you, know that you’re in truly exceptional hands.

Location & very clean rooms - all positive. Right accross from the beach and brekke buffet was yummy (although $40 per person a bit pricey). However, value for money is overall lacking. Paid parking at $39 per night is exorbitant considering the price of the room. The amenities such as the pool bar & pool were overrun by noisy children at all hours of the day. Not really the "relax by the pool" kind of venue as advertised, especially as the pool area was very small. Much more of a family venue which does make sense given time of the year. However- it's a lost opportunity as I would have happily spent money on drinks every night - but not with kids running around, unfortunately. Needs a cocktail hour or something. Gym was good but strangely warm/stuffy so not comfortable to use. Spent very little time at the hotel as a result and mostly out and about. If I'd known this, we would have just booked a cheaper accommodation. The actual room was comfortable - we did open the windows for some airflow. Housekeeping was lovely :)

Home away from home. Great location, great hotel and the icing on the cake is the staff! Reception, bar, breakfast are all amazing, welcoming and simply top notch! Customer service the way it used to be! From little welcome notes to tasty treats, to exceptional bar and food service, just enhances the whole package. Luv the balcony rooms, waking up to the sea, the breeze and the mountains. Doesn't get much better.

I had a really enjoyable stay at the Novotel Wollongong Northbeach. The location is unbeatable - right across from the patrolled North Wollongong Beach and an easy walk to cafes, restaurants, and bars. My Ocean View Balcony room was fantastic: modern, comfortable, and surprisingly peaceful at night despite being on the beachfront (it was very relaxing falling asleep to the sound of the waves). The room was also well thought out, with plenty of power points, good lighting, and space for luggage. Parking was reasonable at $39 per night for guests. The car park is a bit tight and has low clearance, but manageable with care (even saw a Land Cruiser make it in). A special mention goes to The Pantry - the little convenience store onsite. It’s super handy for drinks and snacks, and Les who runs it is an absolute highlight. He’s friendly, welcoming, and always up for a great chat (he’s also an amazing artist, so be sure to ask about his paintings!) As an ALL Accor Gold member I was a little disappointed that there was no acknowledgment of my status at check-in, and I had to ask about the upgrade myself. I did receive it, but it would have been nice for it to be proactively mentioned. I also tried breakfast at Palisade on my first morning and found it underwhelming - service felt inattentive, furniture and surrounds were quite worn, and I don't think the food justified the price. Would I stay again? Yes - for the beautiful location and the lovely room...but I do think the overall hotel service could do with improvement.

Easy and helpful check in. Thanks Candice! Upgraded to a beach view room along with a yummy desert in the fridge with a personalised welcome note. The Accor All loyalty scheme is well worth being a part of free wifi too. Room with a comfy king bed. Recently refurbed too. No robes though. Great walk in shower with good water pressure. Also beach towels supplied as this place is right beside a beautiful beach! Very nice!

As you will know, Accor has changed alot of there features. Now a free night, means you have to stay 2 nights and one of them is free. Clever concept. Food is now 30% off, no more 50% BUT alcohol we now get 15%. Again clever. We were upgraded on check in. Nice. Still I do miss boot scooting Karl on check in and Marina, but life goes on. Best Accor staff eva. Our room, lovely and clean, bed made to perection. Well done housekeeping. Love how you still have biscuits for your tea, coffee and those cheeky Cockatoos. Love this hotel for that. Hotel has a major update and looking gorgeous. We certainly can't complain at all. 15 out of 10...great service, funny service. Went for lunch, we were given dinner menu's but hey, easliey resolved.

This was such a beautiful spot. Thank you for the upgrade to a suite. It was spacious,clean and had an amazing ocean view, loved the bathroom renovation as well. The bed was so comfy and all the staff were so lovely and helpful. There was a young boy on at breakfast on Monday morning who was learning, and I couldn't see a name but he was doing such a great job. Also loved the pool and bar renovations and how you can get a drink and snack by the pool now. My husband and I both enjoyed our stay very much thankyou.

Well located . Very friendly and helpful reception staff. Excellent quality of food. Room with ocean view and balcony . Balcony needs a clean up before guests arrive . Adequate room size but room had an awful stench on arrival . Even after the quick clean up, the smell of damp carpet and mould lingered . Aircon reeked of mould too - needs a thorough clean as well . Rooms are very dated - in need of a refurbishment . Our room was always cleaned after 4pm so coming back to rest a bit after a long day out, was inconvenient as cleaning staff would just start cleaning then . Cleaning staff could use a refresher course in customer service. Very unfriendly snd at times rude . Overall, a little dissapointed in the expectations of a brand like Novotel.

The hotel is clean, perfect location and a friendly staff. The food was not good. Not fresh.

Nice hotel, staff friendly and a great wine bar. Has an awesome wine sample paddle and great share dishes.

We stayed here for a wedding through Le Accor club membership in Jan '17. There were 3 on that same day. Check in was smooth with reception providing early check in and extra room keys with no hassle along with car parking for 3 days despite only booking 1 night and wifi included. The staff happily made sure the mimosas I ordered were sent up to the bridal suite and little touches such as rose petals and champagne were waiting in room for the happy couple after the reception. We paid for an ocean view upgrade which was lovely and there were cockatoos on the balcony during the day. It was also pretty cool to see the skydivers landing at the park across the way. Buffet breakfast in the morning had a fantastic selection and the cost was standard hotel prices although you do get a bit of an ocean view. Note they also had an enclosed kids play area in the lobby. Room facilities were nice and modern with nice toiletries. The shower pressure was great and hot hot water too. I will admit I got a bit stalker-ish trying to find the maker and type of bed used. It was so comfy I wanted 1 for home but they are custom made for that hotel. Some other guests complained about lack of parking. I did have noisy neighbors on the balcony at 5am which carried on but decided to go for a walk along the beach at sunrise. Would definitely recommend and stay again although I would book early as the rack rate is too rich for my blood.
