Novotel Wollongong Northbeach

Amazing stay! The ocean view was absolutely stunning — waking up to the sound of the waves and looking out over the beach was perfect. The hotel is literally right in front of the water, so it only takes a few steps to get onto the beach. The room was clean, modern, and comfortable, and the staff were welcoming from the moment we arrived. Couldn’t have asked for a better location or experience. Highly recommend!

I had a really enjoyable stay at the Novotel Wollongong Northbeach. The location is unbeatable - right across from the patrolled North Wollongong Beach and an easy walk to cafes, restaurants, and bars. My Ocean View Balcony room was fantastic: modern, comfortable, and surprisingly peaceful at night despite being on the beachfront (it was very relaxing falling asleep to the sound of the waves). The room was also well thought out, with plenty of power points, good lighting, and space for luggage. Parking was reasonable at $39 per night for guests. The car park is a bit tight and has low clearance, but manageable with care (even saw a Land Cruiser make it in). A special mention goes to The Pantry - the little convenience store onsite. It’s super handy for drinks and snacks, and Les who runs it is an absolute highlight. He’s friendly, welcoming, and always up for a great chat (he’s also an amazing artist, so be sure to ask about his paintings!) As an ALL Accor Gold member I was a little disappointed that there was no acknowledgment of my status at check-in, and I had to ask about the upgrade myself. I did receive it, but it would have been nice for it to be proactively mentioned. I also tried breakfast at Palisade on my first morning and found it underwhelming - service felt inattentive, furniture and surrounds were quite worn, and I don't think the food justified the price. Would I stay again? Yes - for the beautiful location and the lovely room...but I do think the overall hotel service could do with improvement.

The experience upon my arrival was not ideal. I had requested an early check-in, but no one was able to give me a clear or positive answer. As a result, I had to return to the front desk several times to check on the room status, and I was finally called at 1:30 pm — only 30 minutes before the standard 2 pm check-in time. I understand that 2 pm is common, but higher-rated hotels usually make an effort to accommodate early check-ins when possible. This was disappointing because I arrived after a long drive and was extremely exhausted. I would have appreciated a more attentive and considerate experience at reception. I was also not satisfied with the view from the room I was given. If I choose to stay with your hotel again, I would like to request a quieter room with a better view to ensure a more comfortable experience. Additionally, I was very surprised to be charged for Wi-Fi upfront with the promise of a later refund. This has never happened to me in any hotel, especially considering the high price I paid for my stay. Being asked to pay for Wi-Fi access in advance felt unreasonable and left me quite disappointed. Overall, I would only recommend this hotel for its excellent location. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience did not meet my expectations. Thank you for taking the time to review my comments.

Booked a double queen room for a night at the beginning of November 2025. Room was so spacious and well appointed. Nice desk area. Bathroom was huge - had a shower and tub. Did not eat at the hotel, so no comments on food. There was a hairdryer and coffee machine in the room.

Couple stay for our wedding anniversary. Loved every minute. From the time we were welcomed at reception to when we left. Our room was beautiful with a stunning ocean view. We will definitely come back. We were very lucky with a complementary early check in and late check out. Our breakfast was delicious. Was so easy to walk to restaurants, the beach and the beach side walking path. Thank you for making us feel at home.

I facilitated a small conference there for 2 days this week and it was exceptional. The rooms were comfortable and well fitted. The conference facilities were great. But the food was nothing short of amazing. I ate in the restaurant 2 nights and could not fault the exceptional food. It was really wow. Great hotel, great team. Thanks

It was our first anniversary, and we wanted to treat ourselves by staying at a beautiful beachfront resort. Mission achieved, despite a couple of engineering issues with a high pitched exhaust fan the first night, broken ironing board and a too soft mattress, the stay was absolutely perfect. We decided to upgrade our room to a suite and was it sweet! Panoramic views of the ocean. We saw many whales, ate a lovely breakfast by the ocean, enjoyed the heated pool, and beachside fun. The nearby restaurants were vibrant and it was close to downtown to catch the free bus or an uber.

We stayed two nights in an ocean view suite. Upon arrival the reception staff were friendly, welcoming and explained everything with great detail. The room was amazing, clean, had beautiful views and even some local birds visited the balcony. We dinned for dinner and had the buffet breakfast both mornings at the Palisade restaurant, again staff were amazing 👏 food was exceptional and even though it was busy we did not have to wait long. Our kids had loads of fun swimming in the pool, nice shaded and unshaded areas and pool bar. Parking on sites undercover (yes you have to pay) but worth it for peace of mind. Overall fantastic we will definitely be booking again for our next visit.

The hotel is clean, perfect location and a friendly staff. The food was not good. Not fresh.

We stayed here for a wedding through Le Accor club membership in Jan '17. There were 3 on that same day. Check in was smooth with reception providing early check in and extra room keys with no hassle along with car parking for 3 days despite only booking 1 night and wifi included. The staff happily made sure the mimosas I ordered were sent up to the bridal suite and little touches such as rose petals and champagne were waiting in room for the happy couple after the reception. We paid for an ocean view upgrade which was lovely and there were cockatoos on the balcony during the day. It was also pretty cool to see the skydivers landing at the park across the way. Buffet breakfast in the morning had a fantastic selection and the cost was standard hotel prices although you do get a bit of an ocean view. Note they also had an enclosed kids play area in the lobby. Room facilities were nice and modern with nice toiletries. The shower pressure was great and hot hot water too. I will admit I got a bit stalker-ish trying to find the maker and type of bed used. It was so comfy I wanted 1 for home but they are custom made for that hotel. Some other guests complained about lack of parking. I did have noisy neighbors on the balcony at 5am which carried on but decided to go for a walk along the beach at sunrise. Would definitely recommend and stay again although I would book early as the rack rate is too rich for my blood.
