Novotel Wollongong Northbeach

We had a great stay at Northbeach Novotel. The location is amazing, the room was spacious, spotlessly clean and had a beautiful view. The staff were very friendly and helpful. When we arrived back after our event we had drinks in the bar and enjoyed listening to the live music. Breakfast the next morning was excellent too. Parking was very handy underneath the building. We highly recommend staying and look forward to staying again soon. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

We stayed here for 2 nights and really enjoyed the stay. Staff was very friendly and helpful, specially Guest relations Executive (Dora). Additionally room was brilliant with a great view of sea cliff and city, tidiness and all the facilities. Location was also great. However hotel charges 35 dollars a day for car park, but you can easily find parking in front drive of the beach and avoid parking charges.

This hotel is average at best but for the price I would have expected better. A few things:|1. No valet - for $700 a night I don’t want to park my car. Instead after unloading with kids in tow I’m navigating a very tricky car park.|2. Lack of staff - reception was a ghost town. I waited to check in listening to multiple phones ring out. Check out was efficient but clearly understaffed.|3. Room - did all families get put in the same section of the hotel? It sounds like it! We were kept awake with the stomping of children above and screaming next door. The light in the hallway was so bright not even a towel under the door make a difference. A man came into the hallway singing at 11 pm. Doors slamming…. I wanted to complain but didn’t have the energy. There was clearly room to spread people out but all patrons were packed to the elevator end of the hall. |4. Cleanliness - rooms were clean but things were a bit grimy in parts. Our table outside was dirty and the couch was a tad stained.|5. Accor members- I really didn’t feel like there was any special treatment for being an Accor member. Guy at bar didn’t tell me I could get a discount and told me not to charge room. Only found out I’d be eligible for a discount when I got back to my room and read this small piece of paper I got at check in that I was supposed to read… this is a symptom of a lack of staffing. Everyone seemed to busy to assist.|All in all it was pretty meh. Writing this review at 4.30 am after being woken by noise and light under door though so maybe our experience will improve with breakfast…

We travelled to the Novotel Wollongong as my kids had a major sporting event on Sunday. As the kids were getting ready for bed on Saturday night, a wedding reception started underneath our room. It was nice to see them celebrate but we soon realised that we’d have a loud reception beaming into our room all night. At 9:30pm, my kids were still unable to sleep due to noise, I called reception and was told by a nice lady that this hotel is an event based hotel and they regularly have weddings. There was nothing she could do about the noise and told me it would be ending at 11pm.exactly what I didn’t want to hear. I was furious. We had paid extra for a view, yet would have been better off with a cheaper room facing away from the event space. When I complained to the front desk the following day, I was again told that it was an event based hotel. I believe you go to a hotel for a good night’s sleep. If they jeopardize that for more event money, they need to warn the guests on booking. They can’t have both. I was told the hotel manager would call me to explain I hope he/she does call, but nothing as yet. Be warned this is ‘an event based hotel’ so don’t expect a good nights sleep!

My family and I enjoyed a three-night stay at the Novotel Wollongong for a relaxing weekend away. The hotel's location was great, easy walking distance of the beach and local eateries. Our room was excellent, clean, and comfortable! The small courtyard (perfect for our curious toddler) with an ocean view was a surprise. We even got a daily bird visits! A minor thing, a smart TV would've been a perfect addition though. We loved the swimming pool with a bar serving drinks and light snacks – the perfect place to chill for a whole day. It also had sauna. The breakfast buffet had a good variety of options. The parking was $35 per day and they charge extra for credit card fees. But overall, the staff was good, and my family and I had a wonderful experience.

Novotel Wollongong was outstanding! The bar and gym were excellent, and the rooms were spotless with incredibly comfortable beds. The reception staff were friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help. The Christmas decorations were stunning and created a festive atmosphere. With the beach just a short walk away and a free bus stop right around the corner, everything about this place was perfect. Highly recommended!

I am writing to bring to your attention an issue we encountered during our recent stay at Novotel Wollongong North Beach, in room 624, from January 1st to January 4th, 2025. Unfortunately, during our stay, we experienced a problem with bed bugs in the room. My daughter was bitten, resulting in pimples on her face, which have just recently healed. Additionally, I also experienced bites on my neck. To our distress, we even discovered a dead bed bug in my wife’s nose. Thankfully, my other daughter, who is immunocompromised and was sleeping on the sofa bed, was not affected. This was meant to be a relaxing trip, but the presence of bed bugs marred our experience. We were particularly concerned about the health risks and discomfort caused to my family, especially my daughters. I wanted to share this feedback so that the issue can be addressed promptly to ensure the comfort and safety of future guests and can be planned accordingly. I have informed them and has been advised that we will look into and get back to me but seems like no action was taken. I also sent follow up email too but no response.

The stay began with an unhelpful checkin when the staff member told me that I was not entitled to a welcome drink as a Gold Accor member. I had already received the vouchers in my app so I knew I was correct but I was not going to argue with her. I certainly was not made to feel welcomed as an Accor member and my husband asked me if I thought there was any point being a member when he heard the checkin conversation. Later that same staff member spoke to me via the phone and offered me a late check out and told me that I actually was able to receive a welcome drink. Our room had great views of the beach and the bed was very comfortable. There was only one packet of standard biscuits in the room which I think is stingy, and there was nothing to welcome me as a member. This is the first Accor hotel I’ve been to where I have not received a special treat eg fancy biscuits, chocolates or fruit. Breakfast was average. Great location, and I really enjoyed my swim in the pool.

The hotel is clean, perfect location and a friendly staff. The food was not good. Not fresh.

Nice hotel, staff friendly and a great wine bar. Has an awesome wine sample paddle and great share dishes.

We stayed here for a wedding through Le Accor club membership in Jan '17. There were 3 on that same day. Check in was smooth with reception providing early check in and extra room keys with no hassle along with car parking for 3 days despite only booking 1 night and wifi included. The staff happily made sure the mimosas I ordered were sent up to the bridal suite and little touches such as rose petals and champagne were waiting in room for the happy couple after the reception. We paid for an ocean view upgrade which was lovely and there were cockatoos on the balcony during the day. It was also pretty cool to see the skydivers landing at the park across the way. Buffet breakfast in the morning had a fantastic selection and the cost was standard hotel prices although you do get a bit of an ocean view. Note they also had an enclosed kids play area in the lobby. Room facilities were nice and modern with nice toiletries. The shower pressure was great and hot hot water too. I will admit I got a bit stalker-ish trying to find the maker and type of bed used. It was so comfy I wanted 1 for home but they are custom made for that hotel. Some other guests complained about lack of parking. I did have noisy neighbors on the balcony at 5am which carried on but decided to go for a walk along the beach at sunrise. Would definitely recommend and stay again although I would book early as the rack rate is too rich for my blood.
