Nozawa Grand Hotel is a centrally located hotel with panoramic views of Nozawa Onsen as it is located on a higher elevation. However, it does meant a bit of a climb uphill with luggages (and snowboard bags) from the bus terminal. It is possible to get a taxi or take a bus to the bus stop outside the hotel if the bus service is in operation. In winter, if there is snow and ice on the slope, it can be a icy and slippery on the way to and fro the hotel.
The rooms of the hotel, both the Japanese and western rooms are huge and have ensuite toilets and bathrooms which is a luxury in Nozawa Onsen. Most notably, the indoor baths are big and have showering booths. There is also outdoor baths with great views of the town. However these outdoor baths do not have showering facilities and the changing area is not heated.
The dinner served at the hotel is decent, it is a classic multicourse Japanese meal with sashimi, rice, appetizers etc. Breakfast is served buffet style. If you do not have dinner included in your stay, there is a good Japanese restaurant just outside serving unagi-don and teriyaki don. There are also a few izakayas, cafes and pizza restaurant near the hotel. The hotel's relatively central location also make it very accessible to the town's F&B offerings.
The hotel is closer to the Hikage Gondola via the Yu Road, a travellator that connects the town to the base area of the Hikage zone. In the earlier seasons, it can be a bit of a walk from the hotel to the Nagasaka Zone.
The hotel has its own changing and locker area which is quite basic. There is a small souvenir shop and they hotel can also receive and send luggages which will be useful for visitors who have their skiing and snowboarding gear.
